And while St. Matthews has a lot going on, it lacks convenience stores and/or bodegas. In addition, the owner and the employees are always super friendly and kind. More than once I have forgotten my wallet and they let me take my items anyway, knowing I will come back as a loyal customer. When they were out of their fried chicken, they fried some just for us. They have also been doing a lot of remodeling, so the place offers even more products. It's just a great little store in a convenient location.

In the past month, they've felt unwelcome in the store. This evening, I walked my son and daughter up to the store so they could buy some candy. I waited outside. My son came out and said that once again, the man behind the counter was rushing him. The man said, "come on, hurry up" and was tapping his hands on the counter. This is the second time this has happened. There was another incident in which my son and his friend rode scooters up to the store. They propped their scooters up against the building and were yelled at and told that they would have to pay $800 if they damaged the building. So, they left and shopped elsewhere. After we walked home tonight I drove up there and politely asked the man if there was a problem with the kids being in the store. I explained the experiences my kids have had. I asked him if he told them to hurry up. He said that he did and went on to explain that a couple of weeks ago "20 kids" came in and they did damage to the store. I feel terrible that happened to him but I told him that my kids were not part of that group and have always been polite. Not to mention, the first time he rushed my kids was several weeks ago. I explained that we support his business. He said he didn't care if it my kids were not part of the group that caused problems. His exact words were, "I am not a Walmart. If you want to shop somewhere else, you can shop somewhere else. Kids have three minutes to shop in the store and that rule is for all kids." It is a bit disheartening that, after trying to talk to him and understand the situation better, he basically told me to shop elsewhere. We won't be shopping at the St. Matthews Mini Mart again. We love to support local businesses so this is a bit disappointing. If you have kids who like to shop there, you may want to supervise them.

Kinda a throwback station with only 4 pumps and they are not 24/7. The gas prices here are on par with the other gas stations in the area. I'm not a fan of the convenient area as they are kinda high even compared to other gas stations. The few times I've had to either got in the drive thru or go in to pay due to the pumps acting up the service has not been great. Very slow . For years one half of there pumps didn't have visuals so it was a crap shoot what was happening. They have since fixed that so props for improving that. This gas station is a few miles from my house and I stop in time to time. I mainly avoid it because it is smaller and hard to navigate through. I wish the convenient store was cheaper as the place is in a great central location from my home. Overall the place does the trick and fills my need of getting a tank fill up when I need it during there operating hours.

What a surprise E-Z had in store for me. They carry a nice selection of hot foods and fresh fruit that is ready on demand. I have sampled the double cheese burger and the pork chop sandwich. Both of them are good, but the oozing american cheese on the double cheeseburger is not bad at all. Let's not set expectations too high here. It is a convenience store not a gourmet burger house. However the simplicity of the burgers and sandwiches is what makes it good. I am pretty sure everything is made fresh daily and they have all the fixin's you need available. This store is also going through a bit of a transformation. They are currently adding new stock, re-configuring the store and making nicer day by day. My first stop was at the deli for some fresh lunch meat and cheese. the staff is very friendly and will give you a sample to taste and also cut your selection just as you want it. The bakery has a wealth of selections of fresh goodness. As you roam the store you will find just about anything you want in the way of food. If you join their club you will get various rewards during the year especially on your birthday. Mine was this month a they gave me a half gallon of my choice of their premium ice cream. I love Trinity Chocolate.

Pretty competitive gas prices with the Thornton's across the street. There a tad bit more expensive on the goodies, ice bags and things like that then the Thornton's across the street. But they do seem to have more of a larger selection. I know residents fought this gas station coming up for a few years. It's not quite the eye sore everyone thought so far and the way the parking lot was designed with the roads it hasn't cause a traffic issue like many thought. Overall a solid gas station.
