Just because you pay more, doesn't guarantee you'll get a better haircut! I went for a simple shag haircut. I don't know what haircut I received, but it didn't resemble a shag. Couldn't do anything with it, short in the back, long in the front. Went back 2 weeks later, stylist said she must have forgotten to cut the front shorter when she took more off the back. When I got home the second time, my hair still uneven on the sides. $60 later and I'll be paying someone else to fix my hair... 2 strikes, you're out! Save your money! read more

i had wanted more or less highlights and i wanted the really blond chunks throughout my hair. the first stylist to do my hair was fine for about 15 minutes. she had to go for a family emergency so then i get another girl who didn't know whart was going on, so she just took out my foils and washed my hair. no toner nothing just foils out and hair washed. then yet i am now with another stylist who was responsible for cutting my hair. well she didn't cut my hair the way i explained it to the first stylist. she did not cut around my ears she did not style it right.now i'm being charged over 200.00 for my hair and all three stylist want tips i'm sure. well i did not give any except to the stylist who cut my hair. she at least tried,. everyone else were too busy. and the way i saw the salon it only had one other customer with hair., and i saw two older ladies getting their feet done. otherwise it was empty. no wonder their charges are outrageous. i had no idea it was going to be over 200.00 the service is poor, the prices are high and the stylist don't know what the hell they are doing.!!!!! do yourself a favor stay away prices are way cheaper at jc penney and you get great stylist there that really give you one on o ne attention! read more

I've taken some time to write this review, but a recent chance meeting with another client from this place has prompted my response. I was a VERY regular customer at this salon for five years.... Once in a while I would run a bit late, usually five minutes or so, but I was always one who called to say I was on my way. I myself am in a service industry and at the mercy of client schedules. I was never a no-call no show type and always did my best to give my stylist every consideration. I am a good tipper. Once I even bought an aesthetician some supplies. This salon took every advantage to sell me products, clearly pegging me for someone with the money to do so. They would call me frequently, offering me last-minute appointments from recent cancellations. I knew that they were trying to make up for some stylist's lost wages, and I often obliged even though it was rather obvious they were targeting me and taking advantage. I was the "Let's get Mikey" customer when someone had a no-call no show or whatever. The client I recently met said she got the same treatment. One day a few months back I had a regular manicure scheduled. It was mid-afternoon and I was fighting road construction and school buses. I phoned twice en route to give an ETA. I was still going to arrive within their 15 min window. On the third call, my manicurist, Danielle, snapped at me: "You're pushing it, Missie!" (Imagine, if you will, the tone of an antebellum Atlanta debutante, remonstrating with her tired, over-worked peon for not mending her hoopskirts fast enough). To be frank, Danielle always made me feel like I was an imposition on her day--whether I was ten minutes early or five minutes late. Once she scowled and snapped at me when I wanted to go and get coffee in the attached cafe: I was early that day. The other client I mentioned above recently related these same sentiments to me, that Danielle was cold and made her feel like she was an imposition. Suffice to say that on the day in question I refused to abide such insolence and made my position more than clear when I arrived. Danielle stood there in mock-shock, mouth agape, hand to her breast like a swooning Southern belle, denying her nasty words and her attitude, though I was quite certain the front desk folk had heard her on the phone speaking to me. Later, the salon owner called me...calling me by a wrong name: you'd think after five years and thousands of dollars that I'm sure went to her recent renovations she'd know my first name. Anyway, she listened, but offered me ZERO in understanding let alone compensation. I told her that other more amicable stylists, etc. didn't deserve to pay for Danielle's poor social skills. Now, I have heard that this story has been "reinvented," leaving out the courtesy of my prior phone calls and that I simply walked in and demanded to be seen. Though this is not surprising, coming from a den of largely (but not exclusively) gossipy, addle-pated hens, I take great umbrage at this manufactured bs and other stylists know full well l have been amenable to rescheduling and even suggested it myself. Again, I wasn't always late (five years, remember?) and if I was, I called. I still go to one of the stylists, as she is sweet and doesn't deserve censure, though that is in reconsideration and no fault of hers. When I come in, no one looks at me, few greet me as before, treating me like a pariah when I was the victim. I was told by this other client, who had heard the revised story of my experience, that the salon is becoming a toxic atmosphere for many who work there. She is seeking services elsewhere like myself. Come and see the piles of hair products and Image brand skin care I have (the cleanser alone costs the equivalent of a down payment on a Bugatti!) if you want further confirmation as to my patronage and generosity with this ungrateful establishment. I understand the value of everyone's time, but in a competitive business one needs to remember where their proverbial bread is buttered. I have been going here for 5 years. I have gotten every service they offer. The staff are amazing! So attentive to each and every one of their clients. Hands down the best nail artist in Jackson! Danielle is so talented! She is able to bring the picture all together for you! I've seen so many hair artist and they are all amazing! The estheticians are so knowledgeable! They have helped transform my daily routine for facial cleaning to exactly what I need. I flew in from California for my wedding reception and had made an appointment for hair and makeup for me and my mother. I was recommended to the salon by a couple of friends and it did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in we were greeted, seated, and asked if we would like anything to drink. Their customer service is on point! Throughout the process of getting our hair and makeup down the stylist kept great conversations and there wasn't any awkwardness. Aja was my stylist for the day and put in some hair extensions that I brought to give me some more volume, she did amazing! She also did my makeup and it lasted throughout the entire night, even through some tears of joy. My mother had concerns of the makeup since she is an older lady and didn't want to amplify her wrinkles. Great and awesome salon! My appointment today was with free. First and most important, they are VERY kid friendly! Love that! Many salons aren't. I had to bring my 3 yo daughter in the last minute with me to the appointment. They had a crayon box, coloring books, and a mannequin head set out for her. Second, free really did a great job! I had a balayage, and she really put max effort in getting the color i wanted. Lastly, the staff, including the owners are great and friendly! Overall, this is my new go to salon! This salon was on a list for best salons in Michigan. I'm afraid that it is not. On a Thursday morning at 10:30 I was the only customer there. My stylist was knowledgeable regarding color but her application was lacking. She was unprofessional in relating to a new customer her ex-husband's drug abuse. I have went to the Spa part of this salon for well over a month now and the service has always been excellent. The staff is always so welcoming as soon as you come in and I've gotten plenty of waxes and a facial now. I love it, I leave feeling smooth and radiant. I usually book with Alex and she is amazing! Left my previous appointment early to be sure I was on time for my scheduled facial at 1 pm. Unfortunately had to wait and facial did not actually start until 1:40, and was done at 2:25 - a total of 45 minutes, but was still charged for 60 minutes. Had an 8:30 am appointment with Aimee for a color retouch. She was very informative about the cost and time needed for the blow out due to my extensively thick hair. I informed her I let my hair air dry due to curl. We agreed upon the color and discussed a "trim" to freshen up my ends. She quoted my price of $88 and additional $12 for extra chemicals. I didn't think extra was necessary with just a root coloring but trusted her judgement. I had anticipated $70 based on their price card I was given. I allowed myself to be talked into a cut and blowout that turned out amazing costing me $100 total plus tip. I am very satisfied with my services received and even scheduled my next appointment. Don't like having to leave a bad review. I went to get a fade and some texture up top, thought it looked good in the salon but my eyes must have deceived me. I came home had to trim up my sideburns and around my ears. You can tell a lot about a salon by looking at the stylists. These girls look amazingly healthy and stylish. They are also friendly. The place itself has a pretty nice vibe. Being a salon and spa, the menu of services is deep. You can get anything from a trim to hot stones to a Brazilian. Too cool to be in Jackson, for sure, but hey, we'll take it.
