Green beer for St. Patrick's Day
    Morgan D.

One of my favorite East Bay breweries. The beer garden is very nice with plenty of tables to choose from. Lots of flowers, fire pits, long tables, and umbrellas. They only sell bar snacks, so there is almost always a food truck outside and they allow outside food. I love the Martinez lager and their sour. I am a big sour fan and the pomegranate, plum, prickly pear sour is one of my favorites that I have ever tried! They have lots of space indoors as well. The staff are always friendly. Such a lovely local gem

This was first time here for us. Friends and frequent flyers suggested this place. So first off, back in the day I use to drink a lot of beer, especially when I finally crawled off my tractor and stumbled out of the field. Farming days. Today not so much, but given that, I still love a nice porter or stout, nitros or not, once in awhile. First item I spied on the menu was a Porter and it was mine. I think my partner had some pilsnerish or hevi thing. Nice indoor area and outside patio. We started outside but moved inside after awhile since the sun kept chasing us. There was a food truck on the street for eats and we also got something from another place down the street. As with the trend now days these beer places are all dog friendly and of course bring the kids and get them started early on the alcohol trajectory of trashed livers. For some reason the parents think it's perfectly ok for the kids to run around recklessly, kick balls and throw objects at unprotected patrons while they keep their dogs on a tight leash. Maybe it should be the other way around. Just something to think about. Overall a nice place with friendly staff and good beer. Also wine selections. Next time we are in the area we will drop in again.

Love this place. Beautiful and plentiful outdoor seating. Plenty of umbrellas for shade. Good selection of beers. I went for Ghost Town. Great flavor but could have been colder. They usually have a food truck, but you can bring in food from any restaurant around here plenty to choose from.

Love it when the Sun cooperates!

Five Suns Brewing is such an incredibly comfortable brewery! With plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and a nice open courtyard, this is the place to chill and have a beer... or a glass of wine. It appears they partner with a local winery, Viano Vineyards. I tried their Chardonnay and - even though I'm not really a big Chard fan - it was FANTASTIC! They have a wide variety of quality craft beers. Can't wait to come back! Give it a try; you definitely will be glad you did.

It was raining so we decided to go inside and enjoy our beer. With high ceilings and stone floors, the noise level was a little high, but it calm down after a bit. We were there during a busy period and were immediately greeted at the counter by the smiling Vicki. we made our orders there were four of us so we ordered a variety of beers, sodas, spritzer, and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I really enjoyed the fact that I was able to go in there and people were there with their dogs and their dogs were well-behaved and fun to be with. the general customer grouping was very relaxed and friendly and sharing with each other and it made us feel real comfortable being from another area I am the beer drinker in the group so I ordered which sounded like an interesting choice from me and it was the DIPA. it was so delicious I had to and that encourages me to come back on the next visit and try a flight of the selection.. After parking in the lot next to the brewery and coming around through the front doors, it was easy to see why people would be enticed to sit out in front on a beautiful afternoon and the customer area outside.

This is a great place to bring your family in the early afternoon or come with your adult friends at night. They have a great range of food trucks and a great service. The large patio is especially nice. The owners are super cool and love to talk and show around patrons.

Sit in the outside patio during nice sunny days and warm night (9/27/24) I really enjoyed the OG Burst with the taste of guava. The Way hazy IPA definitely had some hops. They have a food truck but we did not have food this time around. The bathrooms are kept clean and there is a small public parking lot next to the brewery. I must come back to try out more beer and perhaps the food truck ! The ambiance was great - chill vibes. This is a good place to meet friends.

For a first timer, I enjoyed Five Suns and would come back if I'm ever again in the area. Located in the heart of downtown Martinez, Five Suns Brewing has a nice outdoor patio that's perfect for a warm day or evening. They seemed to be kid friendly and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. As for the beer, I really enjoyed their sour ale. After my first beer, I wanted to venture and try something else, but the sour was so good I had to order it again. My wife ordered their seltzer and really enjoyed it. The menu seemed to accommodate all of the different needs from pilsners, blondes, stouts, ambers, sours etc.

Great beer and service. Food trucks are good. Now I need 85 characters to finish review

For those who don't know, Martinez has a pretty cool craft beer scene and Five Suns seems to be at the heart of it. The brewery itself occupies most of the huge building that Five Suns is in, with a bar and event space in front that opens up to a beer garden with a food truck parked in front. There's a dedicated parking lot which fills up pretty quickly, but street parking is available for the overflow. The indoor space is really nice - there's art from local artists hanging on the walls and the second level mezzanine has a pool table that's totally free to play. The beer itself is great and the seltzer in my opinion is even better! We'll definitely be back to check out the live music events and work our way through the entire beer offering.

Much of the friendly insider banter went right over my head, except that question about carbon footprints. Yet, it was a lot of fun and Kevin turned out to be a pretty down-to-earth and friendly guy. My son would think that all this was pretty cool, especially if I actually took him to the track.

Before entering the building, a nice security guard greeted us and gave us options to get to the second floor, either elevator or stairs. We chose the wooden stairs! The whole venue has a cool, rustic feel with its wood and brick facades. My first impression was that they must've just freshly varnished the entire floor because that's what it smelled and looked like. Thankfully the smell didn't overtake the venue. The floor looked great! LOL The family did all the decorating and provided the food. There is a small kitchen to do prep work. In the back there is a long bar area and a small stage. Table and chair storage holders are big and cumbersome and can't be camouflaged during your event. Bathrooms were slightly dated but brightly lit. They should update their bathroom stall latches to something other than hook and eye closures. Overall, a nice spacious area for your event.

TL;DR - Great price, but do not book unless you want to chance it with the incompetent management. Carol is in way over her head. I saw older reviews of her being difficult to work with and gave her the benefit of the doubt. I wish I hadn't. I first contacted the Arsenal in January and set up a tour. I was told to call upon my arrival so that she could come and unlock the venue and show is around. I did so, multiple times, but Carol did not answer. My fiance and I walked the grounds for 20 minutes or so when Carol finally texted me to let me know that she was in Oakland and stuck in traffic and would not be back in time for our tour. I decided to reschedule, but was annoyed that she did not let me know soon that she was going to be late. When she got back into town, she offered to run the venue if we weren't too far and we agreed. The venue was lovely and the price was great. I signed my contract February 2nd and paid the initial deposit and started planning the rest of my wedding around this, including buying the invitations and booking other vendors. A full TWO MONTHS later, and less than six months before our wedding, Carol emailed me saying, "Unfortunately due to an oversight beyond our control that date was previously reserved." Meaning, she had double booked our date and that we no longer had a reception venue. She blamed it on getting a new computer system and phone and that the technician didn't properly transfer the dates, but how this wasn't discovered until two months after we signed a contract and paid a deposit is beyond me, but is CERTAINLY not beyond their control, since the bare minimum of their business model is to book their venue for requested dates and make sure requested dates are available before booking. I am devastated and currently scrambling to find another venue less than 6 months from my wedding in a year where all postponed weddings are finally being held. Carol turned my wedding planning bliss into a stressful nightmare and I may have to postpone my own wedding by at least three weeks if I cannot find a venue available on the same date.

Our daughter recently got married at this venue. It was terrific!!!…read moreEach of our 180 guests for a sit down buffet dinner raved about the place. One of the main reasons is the historic charm of the building. The other reason is that most of our guest had never been there before (or even heard of it!) making it a special memory. And lastly, it has three areas/rooms which make it feel quite spacious. The main room is a perfect size for 18 round tables that fit 10 people each plus a small sweetheart table, d.j. tables and a round small cake table. My daughter used black tablecloths (mother gasped at first) and they looked stunning in the room due to the high ceilings and painted white brick and cute white wooden chairs. We had a d.j. and there was plenty of room for dancing. The bar area is also a great size and we had a present table, an appetizer table and a photo booth in the corner with a table for the guest book. It was a nice place to come and chat when the music got too loud! The buffet table for dinner was able to be in an inside hallway that allowed for great traffic flow and the food didn't have to take up room in the main room or bar room. The grounds right outside the room are nice with a large fountain. The area around the arsenal is old, somewhat industrial and funky with little shops. My only complaint is that it is a little hard to find the entrance to the building (and it happened to be raining)...but that makes it more a treasure when you find it! None of our guests complained about it. And my daughter who paid for this venue said it was very reasonable! I can't remember the caretakers name, but he and his daughter were very accommodating. It's a little off the beaten path, but not too far from Concord/Pleasant Hill (about 20 Min) and definitely worth the drive!!

The cars provided today were a Nissan Pathfinder Northwest Edition, 2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z51 package, 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 289 HiPo, and a Superformance Shelby Cobra reproduction - not just any reproduction but the one that was used on-screen in Ford Vs. The course is designed to have participants get the chance to drive each car around a designated area surrounding the museum for 2 laps after receiving an initial ride-along lap with the instructor beforehand and parking in the designated 'pit' area to swap seats. This included multiple stop/starts to practice clutch release, upshifting and downshifting. All the cars appeared to be well-cared for and the instructors were super patient and helpful. My goal for this was to see if I could get through it without stalling. Not only did I manage this goal even with the GT350 and Cobra having no power brakes/power steering and super-heavy clutches, but all 4 instructors gave me high marks. What an absolute treat, and on top of that they gave each participant schwag bags filled to the brim and even a poster! WOW! I highly recommend this event alone as if you are looking to practice stick-shift. It's a fantastic way to do so in a safe, controlled environment as well as potentially drive special cars as a bonus for a very reasonable price.
