I went in for a manicure and pedicure, expecting a decent experience since I had a good one here before. There were no other customers at the time, so two staff members started my service right away. From the beginning, though, I felt overwhelmed--like I was being pushed to make choices quickly, especially when picking the colors. Communication was very difficult. They insisted that French nails would look best, so I agreed, but as soon as the color was applied, I didn't like the result. Since the polish had just been put on, it could've been easily removed--but when I asked them to take it off, one of the staff raised her voice at me right in front of my face. I was shocked. I also asked if I could have two colors on my toes, and she bluntly said no, even though there were no other clients waiting. The whole experience felt very rude and unprofessional. I came all the way here because I remembered the good service from before, but sadly, I won't be coming back. I even left a tip, but I walked out feeling terrible. Regardless of skill, the way they treated me was just unacceptable. I really cannot recommend this place anymore. I also noticed that my cuticles were not cleaned properly, and the gel application was bumpy and uneven. It looks so bad that I'll probably have to remove it myself at home. I came to get a manicure with my friend, the lady was really nice but the quality was awful. They put the gel on my cuticle and hurt me many times with the file. I asked for a design and they only did one color on my fingers. To my friend, they did a really bad French tip and she had asked for acrylic nails and they did gel X. Even after she told her, the lady didn't listen and just said "it's okay." And continued with the gel x and not the acrylic. Not even an hour after we left her nail fell off while she was washing her hands. If I didn't had mention about the gel on my cuticle the other lady wouldn't had fixed it. Great service, no upselling us on services we didn't want, and the prices were very transparent. We both got pedicures, another cousin got a manicure. I got the basic and she got Deluxe package. Both services had massage, the only difference was the length of time and the type of lotion. A gel manicure and two pedicures came out to around a hundred dollars, which was a great deal considering that we've previously paid around two hundred plus. The staffs are always very tentative. They did a great job on a gel pedicure and a regular manicure.

FACILITY This facility is in need of renovation for sure, but nothing about their facility seemed to be falling apart or dirty. When I walked in, there were a number of flies hanging out right inside by the open door which certainly didn't add to the ambiance and could've been avoided with a fan. They traveled inward during my service and I had some by my face during my pedicure. They have plenty of chairs, nice plants inside, and a TV running with the sound off. PRICES The prices here are unheard of nowadays. A spa pedicure is $20 and gel pedicure is $30. I requested French tip for an extra $5 and they offer paraffin for $7 if you're interested in that. Their manicure services are also very affordable - a standard manicure is $15, gel mani is $25, and full sets range from $34-45 depending on if you want pink and white (ombré) or standard color/tips. Standard prices now are like $30-40 for a pedicure, $30-35 for a gel mani, and $50-60 for a full set. SERVICE The clean-up care for my pedicure seemed sufficient and thorough. I received a callus scrub and a short (2-3 min) lotion massage. While disappointingly short, it was indeed a good massage with perfect pressure. He checked with me that it was the right pressure, which was appreciated. He seemed very unsure and hesitant about doing French tip on my toes. It turned out very thick, chunky, and crooked/wavy. I asked probably 4-5 times to thin and straighten out the lines, but he was unable to make thin lines so I unfortunately walked out without any polish on my nails and had to do them myself at home. He was kind about my request to leave without satisfaction or color on my toes, though. I would not suggest going here for anything other than a solid color, avoid designs or French tip. read more

I came to Five Stars for a basic manicure on Sunday. It was the only place that was open later in the area until 7pm, and I was overdue for a manicure. I called to find out if they were busy, and they asked me to drop by in 15 minutes, which I did. Kim was my manicurist. She didn't speak much English, which was fine. We engaged in fun conversation in Vietnamese. My manicure was $10, and it was $3 to remove the old gel I had on my nails. I didn't like that she took the electric file to take off the gel- 2 stars. At most salons I've been to, they hand file, then wrap your nail with acetone and a cotton ball... The process was a bit rough. She then removed my cuticles and shaped my nails. She was also a little rough when pulling my cuticles, and I was afraid that she was going to make me bleed. Luckily, I didn't and I'm thankful about that, but boy, did she make me nervous inside! She did do a good job on the polish though- 5 stars. Customer service was poor- 2 stars. Another customer came in for a service and was not greeted by anyone as the other two technicians were busy working on another customer, and Kim was not able to respond verbally to the customer... So I told the customer myself that the techs would help her after they were done and asked that she wait. The place looked a bit unorganized and messy... and not very clean like the nail salons I have been to. Customer service was horrible! I took my cousin to get her nails done for her birthday today and it was her first time in a nail salon. I got an acrylic + gel color set which was $45 while my cousin got a gel coat + color for $35. The quality of the nails were good, although my nail tech did a sub par job. She was quick and efficient, but if you look at the pics, they're uneven and aren't as almond as I wanted. As for my cousin, I believe her nails were done way better since she got the owner/manager to do her nails. However, the whole time, our nail techs and the other employees were talking sh*t about us in Vietnamese. I, myself, am Vietnamese and understood everything they said. I didn't let them know we were Vietnamese to see how they truly were. Amongst their taunts at us were, "This girl is so picky, just choose a damn color. It's been 15 minutes and I didn't get any work done." Excuse me, but my cousin just wanted to be precise on what she wanted. Plus, there was only one other customer in the store but that customer was getting a pedicure so there was no rush. The manager also mocked my cousin's nail choices and pressured her into getting different nails than she previously told me she wanted. They also talked sh*t about how my cousin's and my hands were so dry looking and cracking and how we should put on more lotion or something because it looks ugly and scary but we just have eczema. They also joked with each other saying how we probably weren't even going to tip them. My parents were nail techs so I always tip, but I was low on cash so I could only tip so much. And they made fun of me in Vietnamese again about how poor I was and they started pitying me because I was digging around my wallet and purse for change. I would have tipped them more but they were so rude to me and my cousin. Last time going here! I chose this place because a friend recommended it to me, but I regret! Horrible vibe! The owner gladly accepted me immediately with no wait (: She also accepted other customers that came in even closer to their closing time which I found very admirable even though it was only her and one other lady working! They were both very friendly. Jennifer and I talked and shared stories the whole time. So friendly! Jen did a very VERY good job. She was very careful with each nail and made sure I got the shape I wanted. She even paints carefully. Usually my manicurist just swipes on the polish, but Jennifer made sure to coat evenly and even painted the sides. She stayed and worked on me until 8:40 (they close at 8). This is my favorite local nail salon. I have been a regular for several years already. Lucy has always done a great job on the mani pedi. I tend to call in at the last minute trying to make am appointment and she usually is able to schedule me in, with a few exceptions of very busy weekends. I like that she is attentive in her work. I never feel like she is rushing to get me out of there as quickly as possible like other places. She spends a good hour working on my mani pedi, although it is not difficult to work with. The workers here are friendly. They do not spend their time gossiping about other clients. They upgraded all their spa chairs maybe about a year or two ago. This caused an increased in the mani pedi price by about $2, but it is still relatively cheap compared to other places. You definitely get great service for the price here. I get waxing. Done a few times here too, but not too often. It very cheap if you need a quick wax. Can't wait until my next appointment ! :) read more
