Boat limit of yellowfin caught offshore of Ensenada MX

My first experience using a processor and it was fantastic. Five Star handled everything from the time we got off the boat until we picked up our order a few days afterwards. To be honest I was nervous when the captain announced we were done fishing, heading back to the landing and that a processor would be available at the dock (rather than cleaning fish on the boat which is what I've been accustomed to). Extremely satisfied with Five Star! They're a well oiled machine and very organized. We'll definitely be using them again for those larger catches, they do it well for sure.

Last weekend I booked a fishing trip at the last minute. When I showed up at the dock with my 254 lbs of bluefin tuna I approached the table set up for Five Star. The representative told me I wouldn't get same day service but they would take my fish, clean it, put it in vacuum sealed bags and freeze it even though I didn't make a reservation. I was so relieved because they wouldn't have fit in my car. I highly recommend that you make a reservation, especially if you want same day service. When I went to pick it up the front desk was courteous, answered all my questions and one of the workers helped me load it into the coolers I brought. This service really made the experience more enjoyable and I'll be enjoying this catch for a while.

Very professional, they answer the phone! Unlike Fisherman processing , who do not and wants you to text them. I was on the water by San Clemente island when finally I was able to get two bars of reception. I called Five Star. They immediately answered the phone and were able to take my reservation for 5 AM the next morning without hesitation. They made it simple, efficient and easy. I asked for next day pick up and was called at 10am the next morning with a "your fish is ready for pick up." They even loaded it up in my truck for me. Fisherman's processing lost a customer. Five star gained one ! I recommend Five Star to anyone and everyone!

Facility was clean and everyone polite, so no complaints there. However, I turned in 79lb & 37lb whole Bluefin from a Fishermans Landing trip. On pickup, yield seemed light with only 2 trays of fillets. When I got home I looked at the bellies. If you look at picture it really looks like portions are missing. I sent email politely requesting if this yield appeared correct......no response. I weighed total and came out to approx 37%, close to their advertised 40% yield. What's crazy is when I fillet myself, I yield over 60%. I would not be surprised if these companies first fillet your fish then count out ~40% of fish to give you and who knows what happens to the rest? Anyone else have similar experience?? I'll be looking for other other processors in the future or go back to doing myself.

Dropped off 240 lbs of yellowtail and dorado and just picked up 55 lbs of meat. No way this is all of my fish.

Tucked into a neighborhood, the restaurant looks great both inside and out. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice, which made the experience even better. For drinks, we went with the "Her Name Was Lola" and "Sweetest Taboo", both solid choices. To start, we had the tuna tostada (a weekly special) and oysters. Both were fresh, flavorful, and honestly left me wanting more. If you're getting oysters, I highly recommend asking for the house-made hot sauce instead of the usual Tabasco. For our mains, we went with the cod fish and chips and the grilled swordfish tacos. Both dishes were excellent and really hit the mark. All in all, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the mood for seafood.

Our server told us their specials for that night. I ordered the Sea Bass, my husband ordered the special, Crab Buccantini with squid ink pasta, and my friend had the swordfish. Every dish tasted really good. There was one problem with my dish, one of the pieces of sea bass was not cooked, it was pretty raw. One of the pieces was fine, the second was not. I'm not sure how that would happened, unless they didn't cook them together. I let my server know and he ordered me another dish right away, and apologized. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our food. Our server was very nice and friendly. I would come again.

Hands down the best product I have ever received!!!…read more For three decades, I have been blessed to fish on long range trips out of San Diego, from Catalina to Clipperton, and everywhere in between. I've seen it all, and I can say without a doubt that the product that I just received from Fisherman's Processing is the very best in the industry. That rainbow, iridescent hue of light diffraction is the proof right there. Solid omega 3's, and it all starts with the processing on the Royal Star. The crew is dedicated to Shinkei Jime, proper bleeding, cleaning, and immediately getting each and every tuna into the RSW. On my most resent 16 day trip, not once did I see any fish on the deck for more than just a few minutes. Even during the hot bites with fish constantly coming over the rail. The crew's work ethic is clear. Not only do they want you to have a great time and catch the fish of a lifetime, but they sincerely want to produce the highest quality product achievable. Who wouldn't want share the very best product with friends and family? Thank you to the Royal Star and Fisherman's Processing. I called them on a Sunday morning, they immediately answered the phone and helped me to locate my fish because I was not sure which boat they came in on. They checked the status and my fish was cut but not frozen per the instructions given by my fisherman friend. I arrived shortly before closing to give the fish as much time in their freezers as possible. Staff was bustling with lots of activity after a busy weekend but they were friendly and efficient. I went into the office and saw my favorite poke spice so I picked up a pouch of that as well. Minutes later a friendly lady brought out a rack of fish and loaded it into my cooler and packed it with ice. I tipped her and was on my way quickly. When I got home I realized how clean the cuts were on the fish. I believe they get about 30% yield which is understandable as there are many bones, blood lines and skin that is not saved. I am not sure if you can negotiate to have any of that stuff saved if you like to make fish stock or have spoiled kitties like I do. My kitties are even more spoiled now as they received the 5* portion of the fish for their treats instead of scraps.
