We LOVED Point Loma Seafoods. The place is family run and has been serving seafood since 1955. You…read morecan buy fresh seafood to take home to prepare or purchase plates and sandwiches. The large selection seafood is super fresh. A crowd of people were waiting for their food when we arrived. You order and pay at the counter and wait for your order. Indoor seating that overlooks the harbor is available. Most people opt to sit at table outside at tables that also have great views of the boat docks. The menu offers daily and happy hour specials. A large chalk board lists sandwiches, sushi, grilled and fried plate options and a few soups/appetizers. Bottles of wine and beer are available for purchase. I thought the meal prices were very reasonable. We ordered a Combo Plate, Fried Oyster plate and tuna sushi to share. This was a LOT of food but we wanted to share and try different fish. The fried oysters are juicy, flavorful and best fried oysters that I've ever had. The tuna sushi was delicious with the largest chucks of fresh tuna I've ever seen in a sushi roll. The fried cod in the Combo Plate was unexpectedly delicious with a light breading. I don't think I've ever had cod that was this fresh. The fried shrimp was good. The crab cake was a bit disappointing with little flavor and mushy. The generous portion of hand cut fries are fresh and delicious. The coleslaw was fresh and colorful, but didn't have much of a slaw flavor. The slaw was more of a salad, than a slaw. Overall, the food tastes excellent, is fresh and portions are generous. The clerks are friendly, engaging and the food comes out in about 15 minutes. They have a small amount of parking. We walked over from our hotel.

Love this place! I always order the same thing, a fried clam sandwich and a beer, but everyone I go…read morewith love their choices. They've ordered everything from sushi to fried shrimp or smoked fish from the case or creamed herring, so much to choose from. You just order from the counter, pay, get your number, get a seat and wait for your number to be called to go pick up your food. No waiters. The view from the upstairs deck is beautiful.

Food is delicious & the fish is fresh! We've had better clam chowder, but it was still good…read more The gal at the register was great - answered all our questions/gave her opinion between choices we were struggling on. She didn't make us feel rushed despite the growing line behind us (we were truly trying to hurry, though, because of it). If you like sashimi, get their sashimi appetizer! We haven't been able to find a good place for sashimi since we moved to Southern California 5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, we've gotten good sashimi, but not cut thick & with good quality that is worth the price like this place. The price wasn't even as high as many of the other sashimi places we've tried! They give you only 2 fish choices on the plate, however. They have listed about 5 or 6 different kinds, but it depends on what is available. We had salmon & tuna. Salmon is my favorite, but their tuna was fantastic! First time I can say I may have liked it better than the salmon!! Their other dishes we had were also yummy. My daughter loves scallops & they were cooked to perfection. I don't usually like scallops because most places cook them till they're rubbery. Not this place! My husband had swordfish & I had the sea bass. Both were also delicious, but I think they may have mixed up which plate went to which person. Good thing, as we were trying each others' food, my daughter noted the slight texture difference between the two (I hadn't had a chance to taste them yet). Interestingly, swordfish usually has a vastly different texture than bass, but here, they cook it so well, there wasn't a huge amount of difference! That says something since swordfish is usually very "meaty." If my daughter hadn't noticed, I wouldn't have complained even though I was looking forward to the bass. I like flakier fish. However, the bass wasn't as flaky as I anticipated, but both were so tender, the mix-up wasn't a deal breaker. I don't know how they season the rice, but YUM! Even though I'm Asian, I'm not one who usually eats the rice. It's usually just a filler for me, & since I don't eat much, I'd rather eat the "other stuff" & usually leave most of the rice. Not here! I almost couldn't get enough of it, lol! So good!! At the end, we needed boxes. We had to ask two different waitresses since the first one we asked never came with them. It's an "order at the register then find a table" type of place, so there wasnt any "service" to speak of. Be prepared to stand in line - this place is popular for a reason! Parking is a challenge, but worth it. We definitely will be back!

While visiting the Ocean Beach area, I stopped into Blue Water Seafood for lunch. I selected the…read moreYellow tail taco and a Bloody Mary. Both were just great!! The bloody Mary had a perfect amount of spice and the taco included 4ozs of fish and was just outstanding. If you are in Ocean Beach, stop by this place for lunch, you will enjoy the taco to the last bite!!

There is only one food stall towards the back that sells prepared dishes. Lines gets very long but moves very fast. There also isn't many seating due to the small space. There's a lot very close by but parking is $8 ($5 if you get validation by making a $10 purchase in one of the shops at Seaport Village). A lot was sold out by the time we got there so I would recommend coming early in the morning. They had fishmongers scaling and cleaning fish off the pier and a wide array of fresh fish by the pound (prices were very affordable). When we were there, there was one "cooked foods" booth with clam chowder, ceviche, fish and chips, uni hand rolls, etc. Prices were fair but the line was long so we opted to skip it. Much of the menu was sold out by that time anyway. Food looked decent based on what I saw others eating. Overall it's worth a stop if you're in the area, want to do some shopping at Seaport Village, can find parking, etc. Otherwise I'm not sure it's worth a trip per se.
