The food is always amazing when we dine in or take out. Their Chicken Pho and Volcano Roll are delicious. The broth for the Pho is rich and an 8 out of 10. The service is great as well. The ambiance needs serious work. The restaurant is very warm and has two floor fans propped up near the top of the roof. They don't seem to work well. The menus look like they need to be redone. They are falling apart and some of them have grease on them. The restaurant needs to consider getting a working air conditioner or making this a takeout only location if they cannot afford a new air conditioner. No one wants to eat dinner feeling uncomfortable and sweating at the table. Amazing flavor for everything! Never thought a Vietnamese hoagie would taste like this. All the ingredients were fresh and crisp. The combination of flavors on the hoagie is out of site. A must try for real! The house fried rice was super delicious and not greasy although they could have gave me more than 2 damn shrimp. This place USE to be good.... Good luck trying to order for pickup. Seems like ownership changed or the parents let the kids take over and it's been a circus. No one picks up the phone at anytime of the day.. and the only time I was able to order and pick up, the inside staff looked like they are just lost and have never worked a day in their lives... no customer service, no sense of urgency, just a simple "hi we will right with you" acknowledgement will go a long way..... not sure how they're still in business... must me be times have changed and we must accept mediocrity... The veggie roll was not on the menu, but they are extremely accommodating. The music was a weird mix of contemporary ballads, not terrible. The staff was lovely. It's very laid back. I wish there were more vegetarian and vegan options, but I understand that most ppl in this neighborhood are omnivores. The options they do have are simple, but well made. Definitely will b back. Okay, so we've been here twice now, cause I REALLY want to like this place. Our server is the nicest guy, and the foods not bad, I just want it to be great! They have a nice variety, but maybe it's too much to do it WELL, know what I mean? We've tried the pho (eh,) a few sushi rolls (are there any restaurants serving real crab in their rolls here in Miami? Ughh!!!) the vietnamese crepe (lacking crispness & missing the right combo of veggies like thai basil, cilantro, etc) tried the iced coffee (sent it back,) and a few other items. We did not know this place was known for its pho when we came. After trying their sushi rolls and pho, we would have to say pho is a lot better than sushi. We tried rare beef pho and rare beef and tendon pho. Both are great. The beef was tender and not over cooked. The veggie was fresh. The soup here is a bit sweeter than other pho place. It maybe a little too sweet for my liking, but it is still pretty good pho. We also tried dragon roll. I would have to say it looked and tasted different from other sushi places. I was really hoping for a nice meal, seeing as how the restaurant's overall rating was fairly high. First, we had zero issues with the Five Spice waitstaff. They were all kind, polite, and the service was great, so absolutely no complaints there. However, one of the sushi chefs was rather strange. I glanced over in the direction of the sushi prep area because it felt like someone was watching us as my wife and I were chatting. Sure enough, the chef was glaring at us with an odd scowl on his face, and it was kind of creepy, to be honest. I tired to ignore him, but I caught him glaring again a few minutes later. I couldn't figure out what his problem was, but I never said anything to anyone about him. Perhaps I should have. After a little while, my wife received her banh mi. We are no strangers to banh mis, and this was definitely not a great one. It was rather dry, and the combined flavors were definitely not on point. The bread used was just okay, almost stale. She was nearly done eating the sandwich by the time the sushi rolls we ordered arrived to the table. We weren't in a huge hurry but it wasn't very busy inside, yet the kitchen was fairly prompt and the sushi chefs were definitely not. Finally, our rolls came, and this is where things really went south. The sushi was rather gross. The flavors were way off; the fish didn't taste all that fresh or even of good quality. The sauces used (and toppings) seemed to serve only as a cover-up, not as a flavor enhancement. The tastes were way under par from similar rolls ordered at *good* sushi establishments. Look, I really hate to say bad things about a restaurant. The grilled pork inside the banh mi wasn't totally bad - not the best I've had at a Vietnamese restaurant, but okay. So I completely acknowledge that the more traditional items we didn't try might have been great, but I can only comment on what we experienced. And that experience was far from satisfactory. At the end of the day, if you really appreciate good, quality sushi, look elsewhere. If you're in the mood for Vietnamese cuisine, then maybe give them a try. Even though the banh mi wasn't all that good, maybe you'll luck out with any one of the hot dishes they offer. I'd really like to think so.
