For it being so highly rated, rather baffled that their selection is pretty awful compared to other stores in Athens. Also, their customer service and help is not great, they weren't knowledgeable at all. They were honestly pretty rude and impolite and made it an unpleasant experience. Would definitely not come here again and would much rather check out some other stores on Atlanta Hwy. read more

The best place to buy liquor and beer in Athens. They have a good bourbon section with a lot of good single barrel choices. The are a lot of wines to choose from with really fair prices. We enjoy Chianti Classicos and they have at least 20 to choose from. The beer fridge has a lot of choices. They told me they like to try to get in stock new craft beers every week. 2 stars for variety, but that's about it. Visited on a non-busy Friday morning, saw plenty of staff hanging out but no one greeted me or offered to assist me. Ended up leaving without making my intended purchase to go to ABC where the customer service is top-notch. Liquor stores are usually the one place where you can ALWAYS count on helpful staff. Guess that's not the case at Five Points... Oh, and I discovered for myself that they do carry creme de violette. The store didn't respond to my Yelp inquiry of 7 months ago, so I had to check for myself. read more

I drank my mom's wine last night. Not just a glass...the entire bottle. Woops! Thanks to google, it veered me to the location that carried that specific wine. Five points bottle shop. I AM SO GLAD IT DID. The selection is really big for Athens. I haven't seen a store with this much variety (in Athens). I'm so used to the extensive selection at Total Wine (Alpharetta location). This place gave me a veryyyy similar vibe, and they were extremely helpful. I was probably asked 4x if I needed help. read more

What is absolutely awesome about this place is the mix and match 6 pack beer selection--second to none. I put together an ipa selection consisting of centennial, jai alai, raja, hoptimum, sculpin, and big eye for $14. You just can't do that anywhere else. I have knocked a star off of my rating due to having purchased expired beer here. The first was a fresh hop ale, these should be drunk fresh, and the one I got was weak on the hop flavor and aroma. Checked the date and it was a bottle from three years back. These need to be drunk fresh, folks. You would think I would have learned my lesson to check dates, but it happened again when I purchased a bottle of Continental Divide Hiberation Ale. Bottle looked great, label certainly did not give away the fact that the bottle was five years old! There was some trub at the bottom and the flavor was definitely off. I drank it anyway (of course), but was not pleased as I had just had a growler of the stuff from the Lumpkin store and it was great. This bottle was just plain blah! I do appreciate the vast selection (the Lumpkin store is the better of the two in that regard if you are travelling to Athens and want to hit the better store), but you have to check the dates on the beers here, there is some seriously old product on the shelves. read more

This place has a five star rating for a reason. It fulfills all your adult beverage needs. Amazing beer, wine, liquor and of course, cigars. Extremely knowledgable staff and good prices. Oh and mind the security behind the counter ;) read more

Super score here. After falling in love with their other location and driving up twice within a month, dropping over $400, I finally checked out this location to see if it compares. Shit it does. The store is really easy to find, right off the main road and the perimeter, decent sized parking lot and easy to spot. The store is HUGE, I only browsed the beer section since that's all I care about, and it was enormous, same selection as the other store but with a very large section for mix your own six packs, at least 6-7 coolers full. A few beers here that aren't at the other store, and of course, growlers. Over 40 flowing taps of fresh beer, huge selection as well, and fair priced. This place is like second heaven. Incredibly nice employees. Know what your taste buds crave but don't know exactly what you're looking for then someone will help you find exactly what you didn't know you were looking for. Even during a busy Friday afternoon mad house they are patient and don't blow you off in a direction to just keep filling their register. Phenomenal selection. Don't see it ask. My husband and I went in to Five Points Bottle Shop yesterday with a rather unconventional purpose - my cigar-loving father is dying and requested that we find a really nice wooden cigar box to serve as his urn. The guy working in the humidor (I hate that I didn't get your name!) was absolutely phenomenal in helping us find two gorgeous, appropriately-sized options! He took our request in perfect stride and we all got a few lighthearted chuckles in throughout the process. We couldn't have asked for better customer service and our family is forever grateful - I completely understand why my Dad loves this shop so much!! The selection here is incredible. I usually stop on my way from Athens to Atlanta. My boyfriend loves cigars and, unless I'm mistaken, this has to be the best cigar selection in Athens. It's not a case of cigars, it houses a sizable humidor. On every visit, I'm always greeted and asked if there is anything I need help with, and I usually do because I don't know much about cigars. I've always been helped without any problems. I can get my choice of wine, his cigars and bourbon all in one stop. Overall, I LOVE how friendly the staff is. As long as I'm in Athens, I'll be a patron. read more

5-stars: For a booze store this size, I've never seen a better selection. If you're in the market for high quality German beers (my fav.), they have most all of the beers that you'll see as highest ranked in the beer competitions. Need some sort of 20-year-old liquor that you'd like to pay $200-500 for? Sure, they have that too. This store recently completed an expansion and renovation, and it looks great. It always smells a bit of dropped liquor bottles (hopefully no one dropped any $200 bottles!), but that's part of the charm. Staff are nice enough given the fact that they are always having to worry about fake IDs and such. Oh, and they have some sweet beer glasses if you need the perfect Hefeweizen glass. I don't drink very often, but when I do, I shop at Five Points... Wait, did that sound like a beer commercial?? : ) read more

This place is much larger and newer the the one in five points but the staff does not know as much and are not as friendly. Unless you know what you want and where it is located I would suggest you go to the original store. But just like the original this bottle shops as everything you might want or need. read more

Absolutely love this place. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable!! Without Michael's help, I would have made so many mistakes when I purchased a kegerator as a gift for my husband. Ever since, this is the ONLY place we go (and it's close to an hour away)! They have the best keg selection and even when we have a special order it's a quick turnaround from placing the order, to pouring a drink at home!! They have a huge selection and it's all organized very clearly. I like that they have a clear aisle for gin, one for rum, several for vodka, etc. I'm not much of a connoisseur but I've never been looking for something there that I couldn't find. The people who work there are also super friendly and very knowledgeable. I haven't looked at their beer and wine much, but their prices on liquor seem very standard to me. I highly recommend it because of how well organized it is and how nice the staff are! read more

I can't say enough about how much I love 5 Points Bottle Shop-- especially the Westside location. Rachael Johnson- the event and wine coordinator here-- is so very helpful. She helped me pick out wine options for my upcoming wedding and was very understanding about my needs and budget. She often coordinates events around own- ie 15 tastes for $15 at The Winery (1/8) and the upcoming 15 for $15 at DePalma's (1/25 at the Timothy Road location). Whether looking for beer or wine, both FPBS location has ample and stellar varieties for budget prices. read more
