I had been to this vineyard once years ago and remember really loving the tasting we got and the views. We came back for some wine and to explore the ruins. We really wanted to sit outside and were told they weren't doing outside service and that we had to go to the barn corner for outdoor seating. We bought a bottle of their tasty and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. It was way too loud at the outdoor seating by their barn, so we tried to sit on their library patio. Turns out they were still serving on the patio. This was a bit of an upsetting miscommunication, but the server was sweet and told us we could stay, but had to sit further down. I didn't like feeling like we weren't allowed to be somewhere so this slightly marred the experience. However, once we settled in, I really enjoyed reading with a glass of wine and pretty views. Exploring the ruins after was pretty fun too. I wish they had a little more history on a plaque nearby. There was a sign that just said it was the governor's home that burned down on Christmas day. Ignoring the weird seating, we had a great vineyard afternoon here.

The chocolate merlot infused truffles were a perfect accompaniment to the cab franc. All of the staff was informative and went above and beyond to make sure you had the perfect experience. This beautiful winery will leave you in awe and sets the bar pretty high.

I noticed the whites have a honey note and the reds are well balanced. Michael walked us through a guided tasting of all 8 wines - and we learned a ton! He was personable and knowledgeable about the wines and winery. We really enjoyed the wines and bought several to bring home! The wines had good structure, nice body and strong finish. Indoor and outdoor seating. Flights -both guided or self guided, glasses and bottles What we tasted: *VIOGNIER 2023: 100% stainless steel fermentation. Bright, fresh, crisp, refreshing. Oysters, shellfish, picnics, summer afternoons. *CHARDONNAY: Neutral oak fermented and aged. Flavors of apple and pear. Silky mouth feel. Roasted chicken, fish, scallops. *TI-REY RosÉ 2021: Estate reserve blend of cabernet franc-and merlot. Ripe strawberries and red raspberries. Picnics, around the pool or on the deck. *BLANC DE BLANc 2021 -Sparkling Méthode Champenoise. 100% chardonnay. Dry, crisp and refreshing *PETIT VErDOT 2019-Deep color, concentrated dark fruit flavor with spice, earthiness, and oak. Their boldest red. *MERLOT 2023: Dark color, rich, ripe fruit. An approachable merlot with added robustness. Roasts, cheeses, and stews. Governor's Cup Gold 2025. *RECHERCHÉ 2021: Recherché means "much sought after" in French. B|end of petit verdot, merlot, and cabernet franc. Governor's Cup Gold 2024. PETIT VErDOT 2019: Deep color, concentrated dark fruit flavor with spice, earthiness, and oak. **Note wine descriptions are from the winery's tasting notes -not my own My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness of offerings)

Montifalco Vineyard - They have geese! Unfortunately we enjoyed annoying the geese more than we enjoyed drinking the wines.

With so many positive reviews, how could we go wrong? They set us up in the cutest little private cottage and we're so sweet. Unfortunately that's where the charm begins and ends. We got five different wines to try. The bubbly was good but the rest were awful. No one in our group of ten found them even remotely drinkable. The one red was so acidic, my friend was up until 4:00am with an upset stomach from the acid burn. It's incredibly disappointing how bad the wines are given how cute the space is and how friendly the staff is. We went back to our Airbnb and opened our own bottles afterwards to cleanse our palattes.

I'm sad it took me this long to get out here but enabled us to come on a day when only one other party was enjoying their outside area! A rare, beautiful 80 degree sunny day in July, nice music and a nice breeze make for a perfect wine sipping environment! The employees were both so incredibly nice and welcoming. We split their featured flight and there was not a single wine I didn't enjoy! Will be leaving here with a bottle or two and probably be returning very soon!

The inside wasn't very decorated, and didn't have that many seats. It seemed a bit bare. I wanted to get the frozen drink, but they said they had run out. Outside had a few more seats, but our stay was cut short by some bees that were very interested in my drink, purse, and my friend's face. I might have to give it another try but it was just an average experience for me.

There is very limited seating in the indoor wine bar--two small tables is just about it. If they don't have a wedding or other event, the large barn-like event space is open with seating, but its cool and drafty so if you're hiding from the weather it is not ideal. They have a very small food menu and offer a rotating menu of cider flights and cocktails. Generally, ciders are quite dry, not at all like angry orchard or redd's (for comparison). The cocktails are fun and creative. I loved having the option for a hot drink in late December. At some point, I'd love to be able to come when the weather is beautiful and can take advantage of their outdoor wine bar, fire pits, and view. Ample parking, though as you follow the road up to the winery, you move from gravel to packed dirt. Parking can get quite muddy as it is just grass/dirt, and there can be some deep tracks left from cars in previous weather. Definitely not a reason to skip this place, but something that we noticed as we were coming/going since we were in a very small car.
