Fantastic store with reasonable prices and lots of selection. I enjoyed this quirky toy store and was able to find fun items for my nephew's birthday (pickle-shaped erasers, and a pinball game). There are many diverse items to choose from- plushies, Legos, dolls, STEM-themes toys, pens, and other cool items. The staff were friendly and available as needed without hovering or offering upselling. The size is efficient and allows customers to see each item without feeling overwhelmed. A woman was looking at the stuffed animals just inside the open door and my Husky, who's a rescue and never learned to play, insisted on having a look. The staff was very welcoming and showed her a stuffed wolf. It is an incredible store! I remembered I wanted a few things for my 2 yo granddaughter and the extremely helpful woman ran upstairs and brought a selection down. Prices are competitive but I didn't care--it was a mood booster to receive amazing service and be in a delightful environment filled with things created to help young minds grow and become creative and happy. That my Husky was welcomed was a bonus. read more

Very cute toy shop down this street. It's 2 stories and is decorated from top to bottom. Definitely a great place to bring your kids or just to look around if you just like cute things in general. They have gift wrapping here as well and there's some children's books on the top floor. Lots of unique toys that you generally won't find in big retail stores with a toy section, but they have some popular and familiar characters, brands, and series too (Minecraft, Sonic, etc.). Of all the shops down this street, I think this one stood out the most. read more

This is a cute little store. I found myself with some extra time while waiting for my Apple Store appointment. I stopped by to get some last-minute gifts for my two nieces. To the older woman who was guarding the door today: If you are assigned the task of being the literal gate keeper to the shop, pls feign some enthusiasm and kindness for the customers that show up to support your business. Your cold body language from your furrowed brows to your tightened lips and clipped tone is the reason why you're losing business to Amazon. We decided we'd rather shop where we are treated with RESPECT and not just tolerated. There is an amazon store directly across the street, but my mother and I were excited to take our 2 yr old son to shop here and support local small business. The older woman who was guarding the door, didn't acknowledge us patiently waiting and instead walked around us to talk enthusiastically to a man who was with his german Shepard. We patiently waited by the rope with our masks on, I held my son in my arms while he quietly watched the kids inside. She returned a few minutes later and asked in a flat tone: "How many of you?" I said "3" and she ROLLED her eyes and tightened her lips as if she was annoyed or disgusted that she had to let us in. I looked at her and said "no, I change my mind." As I walked away with my family, she muttered "ok...?" as if she's confused. Don't be confused by customers leaving to shop elsewhere when you make it clear that we are not welcomed!!!! read more

This is a small, local chain of excellent toy stores. We get all gifts for kids here. The selection is well-curated, and it's small enough that you can get in and out with a wrapped gift in 15 minutes. Games, puzzles, stuffies, LEGO sets, books, arts and crafts--it's all there. They have enough sales and coupons that they are competitively priced, the people working there are engaged and helpful. I save time and energy and I think even money with a quick trip here instead of searching and reading reviews online. They've done all the work of choosing the best stuff for you. I love this toy store! It's not overwhelming like Toys R Us, so it's really easy to browse and they have really interesting educational and fun toys and games for kids of all ages. We were shopping the day before Thanksgiving in Fourth Street and we managed to browse before they closed. I found an educational toy for my 5.5 year old nephew. He'll be enjoying building pulleys and zip lines with his dad or my sister with the toy I got him. It wasn't badly priced either. When I was paying for the toy, the sales associate offered to wrap the gift and showed me the wrapping choices. It's nice that i have one less gift I have to wrap! :) If you're looking for unique toys, check out this place! I'm sure you'll find something to make a little boy or girl very happy! read more

The staff at this store is much nicer than in Albany. I love that the kids can feel the toys before purchasing and the little play area is great. The prices are higher than other places but I gladly support their small business in that name. They also offer free gift wrapping which is lovely. Their toys selection is great for the size of the store. My big disappointment is with the shelter in place, I gladly wanted to support them but I can see that the free local delivery is setting some kids aside. I see that kids living some part of Oakland don't deserve their toys or have to pay an outrageous $15 for delivery. The same applies to Richmond kids when Pinole and Hercules can enjoy free delivery, kids living in Richmond can't. What message are you trying to send here ? read more

Super stringent covid rules. Really appreciate them politely asking everyone coming in to use hand sanitizer. They also supply 'magic' wands for children to use to point to things vs touching them. Brilliant! Was just helped by the nicest, most efficient employee when looking for a tiny scooter. Thank you! The best toy store in the area! I've been shopping here for over a year since they opened on 4th St. in Berkeley. They have an awesome selection of educational and fun toys for all ages. They also have a fantastic, super helpful and friendly staff, free gift wrapping every time, and an excellent loyalty rewards program. When you take all that into consideration, their prices are very competitive. They also put together an amazing festival for their 1 year anniversary at 4th St. where they had really fun activities, like a rock climbing wall and giant bubbles, crafts, live music, and a wonderful animal show, all FREE to the public. And they also conducted a toy drive before the holidays. Just overall a fantastic business run by really wonderful staff!! read more

Protocols were great. They limited the number of people there and asked to not touch anything unless you're gonna buy it. So I asked for a foam sword and had it held at the register. I didn't get to look over it so once I paid I saw it was used before it had dents. I kindly asked if I could have it switched out and the lady at the registered rushed me out and said no that's all I have when I clearly saw they had more since I was there when the other employee grabbed it off the wall for me. It's was just so rude clearly was treated the same way the other customers were. I felt very uncomfortable. Nice place, great selection of toys though won't be coming back. read more

This store is adorable. All of the items were nicely displayed in separate sections. They keep the floor well stocked and clean. I love how charming it feels. The staff member I spoke with was knowledgeable and helpful. I asked her about what learning toys they have for a three year old and she showed me around the store and gave me a lot of options. Great at suggesting toys for the appropriate age. Free gift wrapping and a loyally program. They have demos not only for ages 3 and up, but for under 2 they have activity toys to keep them busy! Such a great store. Was visiting family in Berkeley over the Thanksgiving break and really enjoyed the store, the staff, and the inventory.

This has been a crazy holiday season (understatement). Thus, I ended up messing up the date that we needed to get toys to the boxes for toys for tots. I was able to get an extension for just a few hours- in comes 5 little monkeys and Maria. I tried putting in a curbside order the night before (once I found out I would be able to donate the following day), and I hadn't gotten confirmation by the next morning (which, duh, they had barely opened for the day). I called the store and explained how I needed to get the toys to the box by noon and is there any way to help? Maria (who had answered the phone) tried to look up the order number to pull it through quicker but to no avail. But she was able to think of an alternate plan to get the toys on time! Maria was so incredibly patient and kind and helped me find all the toys I had ordered (which was not a small amount) quickly and efficiently! She then walked me through cancelling my online order. I was able to pick them up and get them to the toys for tots box on time! Great customer service (Maria was super helpful, as was every other employee that helped along the way!), and such an excellent selection. I'll be using this store exclusively for toys for my and other kids going forward. read more
