It's always great to see bookstores in Berkeley, and Pegasus is one of the few left. I came here to support Ellie Yang Camp when she had an author event here to promote her book "Louder Than the Lies: Asian American Identity, Solidarity, and Self-Love." As the audiobook narrator of the book, it delighted me to see her host an event in the East Bay, and what better than a bookstore right by our mutual alma mater, UC Berkeley? The staff was really wonderful and were happy to engage in conversations about their bookstore and offerings. My friend who came with me even asked about potentially joining their book club. As we walked out the bookstore, a book on motorcycles caught my eye on their $1.00 cart outside, so I snatched that book, ran back inside, and purchased it. A gem of a bookstore!

When I'm in Berkeley, this bookstore is pretty much the same. It's laid-back and always stocked with everything you might need. You might even find something you weren't specifically looking for. I like that. They're old-fashioned--still using paper, no apps to download for discounts. On this visit, I picked up a cookbook and a magazine. October is triple points month, so stop by and pick up a book.

The outside of this building is so cute and modern with all the large windows. I enjoyed seeing multiple of genres so it felt like a maze trying to see what was offered at this bookstore! The workers here were so nice too!

I pre-ordered Mark Danielewski's "Tom's Crossing" from this bookstore and when I did so, I left a comment in the order to pack some art overlays that may come with the pre-order, and an employee, Kali, responded that they'll include the overlays as well as some blurbs written by another employee, Bee, which i really enjoyed reading, by the way! It's obvious the workers here love to read and appreciate their customers, and I love coming by another MZD fan as well! Come shipping day, and I get another email informing me they received signed copies, and they'd pack it for me!! I would give them 6 stars if I could, FOR SURE. I'm SO excited to read this book. It arrived a day after shipping but granted, I do live somewhat nearby.

Great independent book store vibe with a decent collection of books, cards, and gifts.

When I came in a few weeks ago I was the only one inside and was looking for Queen - Hot Space. Who I assume to be the shop owner knew he didn't have it, but showed me the Queen section and I walked out with The Game. There was also a flyer at the checkout area advertising a record sale going on at USF, so props for advertising other record finding events. Everything isn't here. It's a local vinyl shop that has so much to look through, and if you're into that then this is the record shop for you. It gives me the thrill of thrifting back in 2007-2016, but for records. I walked out with international vinyls showcasing music from Brazil and Nicaragua last weekend, but finding the Thriller album was icing on the cake. I wasn't really looking for it, but there is a Jackson 5 section showcasing many of the Jackson 5 albums and their individual projects. Service - I had great service the first time I went because no one else was there. The second time I went, the service was still good but being that it was busy, he pointed me to the exact locations I could find what I was looking for if it was there. I feel like he really knows his shop, and that in itself is valuable. There are many, many vinyls. They're organized as well.

Groove Yard is a gem. Rick is one of those rare shop owners who makes you feel immediately welcome,…read moreand he truly knows his collection. There's always an amazing variety of vinyl to dig through, and the prices are great. Highly recommend this local record store.

I fell in love with this bookstore. I'm sure my sons regretted we went in because I spent time…read morehere. They have so much new and used selection. All types of books. I'm a non-fiction bookworm and this place is a heaven. The value for most books is reasonable and lower than a regular book store. I loved how organized it was on each floor and there were posted guides if you wanted to see more what floor to find them. They have a top floor with staff by appointment for special books. Other than that there's no staff interaction except at payment. I also loved they had table and chair seatings in random places be use you will get tired of checking out everything. Yes, I left with 7 books, no regrets and wish I could've taken more. I will def be back! They have straits and elevators but I recommend taking the stairs as they have interesting frames on the way and shop on lower level by stairwell.

Moe's is iconic for plenty of reasons, but one staff member today isn't one of them. I've shopped…read morehere many times, but this was my first time trying to sell. I came in with a big box of books and a man checking out customers pointed me to the counter by the window. While I waited, I set my box on an empty part of the counter. The man who'd be looking at my books told me I'd have to wait 4 minutes. His tone was hostile, so I just told him I was waiting. When it was my turn, things got sour fast. The offer felt low, so I asked if there was any room to negotiate. Right away, no. Fine. I asked if there were other options, and he said I'd get more in store credit. Since I hadn't decided between credit and cash, I asked if he could write the offer down so I could come back another day. Again, an instant no. He said he was "too busy." I don't know what kind of training Moe's gives its staff, but this gentleman could use some customer service training. Maybe Moe's could stock a few books on the subject and encourage him to read them. There are plenty of other great bookstores nearby. I'd recommend Pegasus Books for your book fix.
