The invoice shows $590.65 in labor under a vague "tune-up" line item, with no hourly rate and no labor hours listed. On a previous invoice from this same shop, their labor rate was clearly listed as $120/hour, and the amount billed on this job does not reasonably add up based on the limited work performed. After checking labor guides and comparison pricing, this charge appears well above normal independent-shop rates, especially given that the "tune-up" label did not reflect a full tune-up. I paid the invoice, but I will not return -- and I strongly recommend asking for: * a written itemized estimate * labor hours + hourly rate in writing * clarification of what they mean by "tune-up" before approving work
