The burger was a large double patty and it was delicious. The fries are hand cut from fresh potatoes. They always give you a bag full. Lunch was delicious but the bill was over $20. Why not 5 stars for 5 Guys, you may ask...it just didn't hit the high flavor notes and can be pricey compared to other burger spots. What I liked was the fresh beef and a long list of toppings to tailor my burger. The bacon cheeseburger had lots of crispy bacon and was topped with grilled mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, lettuce and condiments. Veggies were fresh. However, the burger lacked the juiciness in a freshly made burger as it seemed a bit of overcooked. Maybe just a bad day as I've had Five Guys in other locations before. Fries were plentiful and well made. I like the plump fries that tasted like real potatoes (sorry McDs). I always like the availability of malt vinegar along with the requisite ketchup that was in either packets or the huge pump bottle with small containers to fill. Soda machine is the now expected smorgasbord of drinks and flavors. The location dining area is spacious, a nice feature during our Covid times. Hand sanitizers are wall mounted. Parking was good except for the construction at the end of the lot. Lastly, while I was a big fan of Five Guys when they started ... I'm feeling BurgerFi much more these days with their variety of healthier burger options like half veggie and half burger, etc. Yes, harder to compare differences but Tampa getting more variety including Shake Shack, too. Burger, fries, milkshake comes out to almost 30 dollars after tax and tip. The burger was pretty bland and the fries tasted like they hadn't changed out the frying oil in a while. The milkshake was pretty good though. Workers there were nice and the place was clean, but I'm never going back there. I suppose you could classify the "classic" burger joints(McD's, BK, and Wendy's) as the DC Comics trinity of Superman,Batman, and Wonder Woman. In the last decade or so, there have been new generation of burger joints that include, 5 guys, Burger 21, Burgermonger et al. While the others have their merits, I think 5 Guys is the best (burgermonger is a close second) 5G is the Chris Claremont Uncanny X-men of burgers. I usually go to this location since its the closest to me. The cheeseburger all the way is my jam. Very juicy and filling. I like that they have an option for regular of Cajun fries. They give you "my cup runneth over" levels of fries no matter what size you buy (IMO you dont need the large size). The have the newfangled electronic coke machines and are very good at keeping the flavors filled. (Hear that Moe's?) The restaurant is bigger than other 5G I've been to and clean. I usually go on weekdays and there is a petite Hispanic lady who is usually at cashier. Shes very friendly and even will occasionally check on the patrons when cleaning or doing other tasks. :-) The are 2 negatives to 5G: 1) The prices are a slightly expensive A cheeseburger,med fries, and a drink w/tax is roughly $14. The burgers are worth it, but I admit I usually omit either fries or drink. 2) This is a nitpick ,but 5G seems to be the only fast food place that doesnt give you a plastic tray for dining in. All orders are brown bagged regardless of dine-in or to go. When you have a messy burger and lots of fries, a tray or plastic plate would be nice. I usually use the napkins as a makeshift plate to minimize mess. The plastic tray is a mainstay of fast food so I'm puzzled why 5G doesnt have any. The only issue I have with this location is that they ignore you when you're standing at the pick up window to get an online order. Every single time, busy or slow, 100% of the times I go in. They just leave you standing there for like 6-8 minutes before they even acknowledge you. And then when they finally speak to you, you have to wait for fries. And fresh fries are great. 2 Stars because even though I've always been a huge fan of Five Guys, I can't have a burger and fries without a strawberry shake. Today was my first time eating at 5 Guys in Tampa and I was so looking forward to dipping my Cajun fries in my shake, good thing I tasted it first because it tastes like someone made the strawberry shake in a cup that another flavor was in and didn't wash it out first. Horrible, horrible, blasphemous service... it ruined everything. I should've gone to BurgerFi or Burger 21. How do you mess up a milkshake?! Best place to grab a quick burger (that's not at a sit down restaurant) . If you aren't too hungry make sure you only get the junior because otherwise you end up with a double meat patty burger which, although is very easy to finish, it will fill you up and you won't be able to be productive for the next two hours lol. Oh and the fries, fresh cut potatoes, perfectly seasoned. Also the regular size of the fries is huge, can be shared between 2 people. The location by USF is great, the staff is very friendly. Always go for the bacon burger without the bun and they give me a lettuce bun instead! Ate here while staying next door at the Holiday Inn. I've had the burgers before but wanted to try something else, so I went with a grilled cheese with tomato and fries. The one thing you have to be prepared for is if they are busy...and they were. By the time I got my food it had lost some of its heat and, therefore, was not as good as it could have been. The grilled cheese was only warm but the taste was great, same as the fries. Service people were very friendly. This is the only place that 100% makes the hamburgers correctly. Fries are the best around. They are fried in peanut oil. The serving size of the fries good plus they through in another handful. A large is enough for 3 people. The Little hamburger is a single party, the hamburger is a double Patty. When I first started going to 5 Guys I would forget this and get the hamburger. No charge for any toppings and they have quite a good selection. Many of the sides are sautéed such as onions and mushrooms. I have not had anything other than the burgers and fries. One of the best burger joints around! This particular has some of the best service of all of the fast food places I've ever been to. Five Guys burgers are juicy, filling, and downright DELICIOUS. My love for Five Guys stops with the burgers because I abhor their fries! I know I am in the 1% that dislike their fries. I am conflicted because I want to love everything about Five Guys. To me, they have the texture of fries that have been sitting out too long flavored with 40% Cajun seasoning and 60% instant ramen chicken flavored seasoning. Very good burger, I like the range of toppings, one thing to note it says fried mushrooms and onions but really they are grilled not deep fried. The fries are really yummy too, maybe cause they are cooked in peanut oil? They have sweet tea but it wasn't as sweet as I like it.
