The burgers and fries are still delicious but the sticker shock is real here. $28+ today for a Little Hamburger, Little Bacon Burger, regular fries and one fountain drink. There is no ambiance to go with that price. Order at the counter, sit at hard tables and chairs in one large tiled floor dining area, fill your own drink and wait for your order to be called. It's noisy as one would expect from one large room with hard surfaces everywhere. But, yeah, I will be back because those salty fries are crave worthy and the burgers are delicious too. It has been a long time since I have been to 5 Guys. They have a fairly simple menu. I ordered the cheeseburger with all the fixings and French fries fried hard. Because of the pandemic (I think?) there were no peanuts, which was disappointing. But what was not disappointing was burger. It was juicy and the meat had good flavor (not the case at lots of fast food places). The fries were excellent. They managed to fry them crispy without burning them. I wished I had ordered a large when I finished! The sauce choices are limited. It would have been nice to have my fries with ranch. Next time I will try the hot dog! read more

If someone asks that something be left off of their meal it's either because they don't like that particular ingredient, have an intolerance, or heavens forbid an allergy. I love the food but HATE the service. Went there a few weeks ago and most of the toppings were wrong. I ordered extra onions and got extra pickles, which I did not order pickles at all. The fries were only warm and they were out of tea. Everyone cooking was more interested in listening to the ballgame. I told them I did not want the food and wanted a refund. I gave them my credit card to issue the refund and it has now been almost 3 weeks and still no refund. I have called them twice and they were going to check on it and call me back. The reason this is a 4 and not 5 star review is because I can't help but compare this place to In-n-Out and In-n-Out it is not...but it's close! So no, you are not going to find a dollar menu here. Nor will you find an extensive menu nor milkshakes. But the menu is simple, you can nosh on peanuts while you wait, the ingredients are great and you should listen to the How I Built This podcast interview with the founder Jerry Murrell and it'll make the experience that much better. I ordered the veggie and it was just like In-n-Out's famed grilled cheese: oozy yellow cheese on a soft burger bun with pickle, lettuce and tomato but 5-Guys throws in oodles of grilled mushrooms, onions and peppers too. Yea I ate two. Yea I felt sick. No I will not apologize to anyone! My husband was really happy with his bacon cheeseburger, and the fries, while extremely salty were really yummy too. This place is simple and no frills which makes some think that it will be super cheap but they also invest in good ingredients and aren't afraid to charge more as a result. Ever since I went to my first Five Guys in Tampa last year I admit I'm hooked. I've been to FG in a few states now and while the Tallahassee location wasn't the best I've had the burgers were still tasty and fries delicious and plentiful. Lunchtime is usually a mob-scene so expect to wait in line and if you can dispatch somebody in your party to snag a table you'd be wise to do so. The service we had was particularly great, with one order missing condiments and the manager offering to replace the entire sandwich if we so desired. Much better than your average burger joint, but pricier too (around $10 for a burger, fries, and a drink). read more

When I first walked in, the music was loud, we were in a hurry and my son couldn't make up his mind on what to order. The lady at the register seemed to say something but I couldn't hear. I know now I snapped which caused our interactions lead more to a negative manner. I left to go to the restroom while my family ordered. My husband said the lady needed to talk to me. I was thinking, oh boy. This can't be good. To my surprise, the very lady that I snapped at ask if I wanted anything on my burger because I walked off before finishing my order. I was taken back because she did this all with a friendly smile. She could have just put meat and cheese but she didn't. I told her I appreciated that. I sat down and after I got my food watched as she went to each table and greeted them with a smile. Cleaning the tables when people got up. She came to our table as well ask if we needed anything, "drinks, napkins, anything?"Ok I have to admit, I was feeling pretty small at this point. I started thinking that this whole thing could have went a whole lot different if she would have changed her attitude to meet my nasty one but she didn't. She stayed pleasant and friendly. Before I left, I apologized to her and she hugged me and said it was ok. But it's not ok. Sometimes we need to take a breath before reacting to our feelings. Life lesson for me. My experience at this location exceeded my expectations today. We took a shuttle from our hotel today to get something to eat and when I ordered our food I realized that I left my CC in our room. I generally detest hamburgers. I think they are tasteless globs of overcooked crap. Five Guys (and the sliders at Ted's) is the exception. The beef has a good flavor. The cheese doesn't taste like the over processed crap you get at almost every other place. I would say that the low reviews for this place are an exception to the rule. We've heard raves about the new Five Guys in Tallahassee. In fact, we went there on the recommendation of a server at one of our favorite eateries. Can't get much better than that. Noonish Saturday found us in the busy (VERY busy) Five Guys restaurant. Tables were is short supply. We soon decided that scoring a table and then placing our order was advisable. FG's is a walk up, place your order, and wait for your number to be called. Selections are limited to hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and drinks. You specify how you want your burger dressed from a multitude of offerings. The standard burger is two hand formed patties, so it's quite filling. Fries come in two varieties -- Cajun and regular. The good -- the burgers were juicy, so a napkin or foil wrap is a good idea. I admit I overloaded the toppings (SO many choices) and should have stuck with a traditional presentation, so I had burger toppings everywhere. My goatee was well greased. The burgers are all meat -- no fillers -- and that is readily apparent. The dining area was tended by a very conscientious employee, seeing the trash was kept emptied and the roasted peanut boxes were full. About those peanuts -- addicting. Be careful. Be very, very careful. Handful after handful disappeared from our table while we waited for our number. Okay, the bad. The fries were well seasoned and done, but limp. If you're looking for crisp fries, sorry. The burger patties are apparently fried without benefit of seasoning. Mine was crying for at least a small pinch of salt. Not a bad experience, but not the wonderful burger heaven the various reviews posted in the restaurant promised. Would I go again? Yep, but I'll let the newness wear off first. read more

Oh my goodness words can't express how much I love this place. DELICIOUS fresh burgers with all the toppings, awesome hotdogs, and cherry coke! I get my small (because regular is just too much for me) burger with cheese, mushrooms, cooked onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mustard and it is SO tasty. It's messy enough that I need a couple of napkins to hold everything back from spilling on me, but that's part of the experience! I usually don't get the fries because just the burger is enough, but when I did try them they were quite tasty as well. The hotdog is my favorite-split down the middle and served like a sandwich. I know not everyone likes their hotdog like that, but I love it. I like that the menu is very limited, it gives the place a chance to shine at what they do best. The first time I ate at a 5 Guys was in Jacksonville, FL and I was instantly hooked. I was sad we didn't have one in Tally, but a few months later I was so glad to find out they were building one! I love their little hamburgers (their regular hamburger is two patties, which most people don't know when they first go in) and all the free toppings you can get on them really add to the deliciousness. The burger itself is always cooked perfect and their fries are good too---they're really thick cut and a regular order is enough to feed 3 people because they give you so much! I just moved to Tallahassee after living in the DC area for a few years and must say I was very happy to see a 5 Guys. This place originated in the DC metro area and I used to work right down the street from the very first one, so I ate there quite often. This 5 Guys lives up to the DC standard...meaty greasy cheesy goodness wrapped in foil. I've never got a dry burger there, even tho all meat is cooked through. The toppings are mostly free, which is cool. I would have given 5 stars, but I have the same issue with this 5 Guys as I did with the ones in DC. The Fries. They're too big! I would love to order fries, but a normal regular order is enough for 2 people. They need a smaller size because when you're lucky enough to get them fresh out of the fryer they're quite good! read more

So I've never held Five Guys up as high as most but I must say they do make a fine burger! Certainly better than most fast food chains, yet not on par with the likes of artisanal grade service. Of course no one goes to even Five Guys with such high expectations. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger "All The Way" which was promptly prepared. Each bite was consistently tasteful and enjoyable. I do believe they have changed the fries as I recall the fries being much crispier and thinner than this time around. The fries were still great and of course in good ol' Five Guys fashion they give you fries that can truly feed five guys!! Words fail to describe the fullfillment experienced upon completion of a Five Guy burger. Are you sick of "sliders"?, do think steakhouse burgers miss the point? Then stop wasting time and money at the everyday fast food joints & get to Five Guys. The double is standard, all the toppings are free, and the fries deserve a review unto themselves. You'll have to get out of your car, because there are no drive-thru's. You'll have to wait because they prepare everything fresh. It's a Five Guys. If you've been there, this one is the same. If you haven't been there, they serve hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries. This one is currently experiencing the 'new-place-in-Tallahassee' mob rush and so you should get a table before you order. Also plan enough time--it generally takes us between 10 and 25 minutes to get the food. These are the best fast-food burgers in Tallahassee. Better than Steak 'n' Shake and the McWendyKings. Not the best burgers anywhere in Tallahassee--the one at Outback is still better, and TooChez's burger bar before it got popular and they quit making good food. I dunno, I get the craving once every few months for a greasy fast-food burger. This will be the place to get it. Hopefully in a few months they slow down a little and you can get in and out quicker. read more

I ordered 6 sandwiches for delivery. 3 of the 6 were incorrect. I called wanting a refund for the up charge items that I did not receive. I was greeted with denial first, ignorance second, and finally "I'm too busy to deal with you". This is one of several times they have not gotten orders correct. This place is awesome, you walk in order and then chow down on their free peanuts until your order is ready. Ok, so, I don't usually review fast food places, but this Five Guys was an utter disappointment. I haven't had Five Guys in a couple of years, so I don't know if it was a bad location, a change throughout the company because of the economy, or just a mistake with my order. Anyways, my burger and it's toppings were tasteless and my 'large' order of fries wasn't as bountiful as I remember.
