I should have checked the bag before leaving or I should start writing down orders and let the staff work from there. I was visiting Rochester and decided that I wanted to try 5 guys since they don't have locations in Iowa. I drove down to the restaurant from the hotel to pick up a sandwich for the wife, myself, and the child (which consisted of 1 cheeseburger, 1 bacon cheeseburger, 2 orders of fries, 2 drinks, and one hotdog). You think this would be pretty easy. They hand the order to me and I head back to the hotel. Moments later the wife says: "there are only 2 sandwiches in the bags". My burger simply wasn't there or wasn't rung up. Also considering that I didn't get back to the hotel until just after 10 (when they close) I was SOL. On the plus side I did get to sample the wife's sandwich. So I had two bites. From what I tried it seemed pretty good. I may try them again but I WILL write down what I want and perhaps go as far as put checkboxes next to the items so they can work their way through the order and get it right. Oh, and the wife wanted me to add that she did not like the fries. I thought they were okay but after finding that my sandwich was missing I was a bit to upset to sit down and eat them. read more

Sparsely decorated, the restaurant is clearly focused on making good burgers and fries and nothing else (which they do a good job of). I think comparisons to In and Out are unfair and a bit unnecessary, especially when In and Out are a bit overrated themselves. Go to Five Guys with confidence you will get some good grub, you wont leave unhappy. read more

Don't bother, drive five more minutes and go to Newt's north. The fries are oversalted and the burgers have a lot to be desired. The place is kind of dirty and it's not at all worth what they charge. Seriously, Newt's north is about five minutes away and for the same prices, you get a bigger, better, amazing burger. read more

I normally love a Five Guys Burger, but today it was very off. I love to enjoy one of their tasty burgers from time to time and I don't mind paying a bit more for the privilege of savoring their delicious cheeseburgers! It's not easy to find a good hamburger these days, unless you buy the stuff at the grocery store, and make it yourself. Dry and tasteless is the norm. But Five Guys is the rare exception. Their cheeseburgers and their fries are as good as it gets. Really. I've been there a lot, and the service is always friendly. Just don't be in a hurry, because this is not fast food. It takes awhile to get your stuff...and it's very noisy in there...you might wait as long as 10 minutes sometimes...but it's worth the wait. Juicy, tasty, cooked just right. And the fries are rough and rugged, just the way I like them...in huge quantities. You might think the prices are a bit high, but the food is so good it's well worth it. This is one time when you do get what you pay for. Everyone in Rochester seems to love Newt's, but my experience with Newt's is dry, tasteless hamburgers, and expensive....Five Guys beats them by a mile. Another thing I like is that everything is right out where you can see it. You can watch your food being cooked and put together...it's all clean and right out in the open. Okay, I thought it was worth writing a follow up here, I don't know if I was in the wrong mood or if I had expectations beyond a fast food burger, but when I'm looking for a quick burger this has become my go to burger joint. Loads of condiment options for your burger at no extra charge, and it all taste's 'fresh', even the jalapeno's have some crunch to them, in the past I've had a weakness for one particular large chain burger place, but I only eat there once every 3-4 months, largely because 45 minutes after eating there, I feel like I just ate a gut bomb, at Five Guys there is no gut bomb feeling later..A guilt free fast food burger?! hmmm... it seems like it. read more

Surprisingly good. Juicy burgers, mealy fries, and fresh(ish) vegetables -- it's all worth the hype. Wish they had a location on the South side of town. Service is friendly and efficient and the store is clean for a fast food joint. Recommend eating in store to take advantage of the free peanuts. read more

Ultimate PMS food! We ordered this on our drive and it was ready within 10 minutes like they said it would be. All the burgers were hot and fresh. The fries are ginormous. My 3 year old had the hot dog and that might have been the best thing! Char grilled and sliced in half, this hot dog delivers! It's a great burger in Rochester. As far as Five Guys locations go, this one is towards the bottom in terms of speed, but that's ok.

I recently tried Five Guys with my friend. If felt the quality of the burger was poor. The bun was soggy and greasy. The fries (all though the amount was huge)were soggy. After eating, both my friend and had upset stomachs. I feel a couple of fast food places have way better burgers and fries. The peanuts while waiting were a plus, but the meal was way over priced. I do really love this place. Not the most child friendly and I'm not a fan of the cheese. I think it's like velveeta or something. But all the toppings are yummy, almost easier to eat it with a fork. I'm sure that breaks some rule of burgers somewhere. Crazy amount of fries, my fiance and I have really become fans of using malt vinegar instead of ketchup on them. And i think they may use peanut oil for the fries, they're perfect. The peanuts are free but I never really feel in the mood for peanuts any time I've been there. read more
