I don't really get the Five Guys hype. I've been here maybe 4 times, and each time is just... okay. The burgers aren't bad, but they're by no means amazing. The fries are the same, really. I always get my burgers plain. Literally. Meat and bread. I have a very strict philosophy: If a burger is TRULY good, it will be flavorful even if plain. However, the burgers are kind of bland here, so it's hard for me to really enjoy them. The fries are another thing. Portion sizes here are ridiculous. The regular size of fries can feed 2 VERY hungry people or 3 kinda hungry people. The large fed my family (5 people), with some left over. My biggest complaint about this place? THEY HAVE NO RANCH. Seriously?! Ranch is quickly becoming the new ketchup, and you don't carry it? Come on, Five Guys, step your game up! If all of that is too much to read, I'll condense it for ya: Mediocre food, okay prices, NO RANCH, and pretty good service. I'll go if someone drags me, but I won't go out of my way for Five Guys. I like five guys. It's efficient and organized. The burgers are pretty quick. I usually get the small which means 1 patty of beef with everything. They do give enormous amount of fries so better to share. I prefer the Cajun over the regular fries. Just a side note, they have peanut everywhere and the fries are fried in peanut oil. Those with peanut allergies or have kids with peanut allergies should probably avoid 5 guys. read more

The description for 2 stars is "Meh. I've experienced better." That's the most accurate star rating there could be for five guys. People have tried to describe Five Guys as the East coast In-n-Out. More accurately it is an attempt to match In-n-Out. It falls short at every instant. The fries are too thick to reach a proper crispiness, so soggy fries. The fries serving size was annoyingly large. I'm not in to wasting food, throwing over half the order of fries away sucked. You can't save them for later, they were already no good when fresh, how much worse would they get when old? The burger, while very customizable, is not fantastic. It was greasy, not juicy. It was more burned than charred. It tasted more like the burger someone would make in their own back yard, which is not bad in any way. But it was 5 times the price it would cost to make a similar hamburger in the back yard, and thrice the price a better burger at In-n-Out would cost. It was not worth the price, it was not worth the drive, it was not worth the wait. I won't go back, Burger King whoppers can come with the same toppings for half the price. read more

I highly recommend using their app. or website to place your order beforehand so that it's ready when you arrive. Their burgers are good quality, made to order, and customized with a variety of toppings from which to choose. Their fry portions are excessive -obviously not a bad thing, but just be aware. Personally, I could split a small order of fries with another person. I like the fact that they have free peanuts near the line to place/pay for your order. When I feel the need to indulge in an unhealthy burger (let's face it), this place will remain top of mind. Owner/Manager ALERT. I've been a big fan of 5 Guys, BUT got home tonight tonight with two seriously limp orders of fries. 5 Guys burgers are o.k. but generally not great. They're not huge, they're not really sesoned well and they ain't Kobe beef. They're o.k. Toppings are fresh. Meh. What sets these guys apart is usually the fries. Not today. Somebody's not paying attention. I am not going to pay premium prices for limp, soggy fried potatoes. You've got about one more chance to fix the situation so quit spending too much time at the lake house spending those profits from the first couple of years. Oh Five Guys, you have let me down. When I came to you last Saturday, all excited to have a fantastic cheat meal on my new diet, I was pumped. My boyfriend and I ordered our usual (which we haven't had in quite a while), elbowed past the crowd of people waiting near the pick-up area (hmm, seemed kinda busy for 1:30pm, past the usual lunch hour), luckily snagged an outside table in the beautiful Memphis weather, and....waited. And waited. And waited. Issued number 70 at the register, I could hardly believe my ears when I heard order number 42 called out as we headed outside. We weren't REALLY almost 30 orders away from our food...were we? Alas, we were. We waited, I kid you not, a solid 25 minutes for our food. And the sad thing is, I couldn't see where the holdup was. The kitchen staff (maybe one or two less than usual?) seemed busy, they only had one person at the register taking orders (maybe trying to slow down the influx?)...what was the problem? When we finally got our food, along with others around us who had endured a similar wait, I looked up from eagerly stuffing in my burger to see...a kid throwing up at the next table. Dad tried to contain the situation in a paper bag (nice try Dad, but no cigar), Mom packed up the kids and the food, and they rapidly loaded into their minivan and left the scene, but...ew. Not your fault, Five Guys, not directly, but if you hadn't kept me waiting so long, perhaps I would have been spared that unfortunate sight over my meal. So is this the end? Who knows. I am always starving when I chose places to eat. The location is about 10 minutes from my house so not too bad of a drive. Five guys has great customer service. Takes your order promptly and check out is a breeze. I think it's cool that I can watch my food being made. I ordered a little cheese burger for $5.09 and regular Cajun fries for $3.79 and a medium drink for $2.29 my total came to $12.21 with tax which I think you get what you pay for because the food is amazing very fresh and hot! The allure of Five Guys is the wide variety of toppings and large bags of fries you can order. I've been to several locations of Five Guys, including this one, and I'm never very impressed. I usually go because my husband likes the burgers and the toppings you can add. I, however, enjoy my burgers with ketchup and that's about it. The burgers are standard, but good. I'm not a fan of the fries, either. To me they don't have a lot of taste. I also prefer shoestring, so that could be another factor. I'll continue to go here when out with friends, but I will likely not come here alone to order food. If you or anyone in your group has a peanut allergy - run far away. read more

Save your money. Burgers remind me of Lot-A-Burger, Frost Top or What a Burger except cost way more, a small cheeseburger $4.69, regardless of how many toppings that price point is unjustified. Fries are fried in peanut oil but are greasy and limp plus a regular order of fries $4. Two small cheeseburgers, 1 fry, 2 drinks $20. Only one drink machine working so the line was long. Regardless of what the signs say there are plenty of places in town that produce a better burger and fries at a much more attractive price point and you are seated and waited on as opposed to serving yourself. The workers are very nice, and the business model is good. The customization is excellent. You can choose from about twenty toppings for your burger. The burger portions are generally large. Most people can eat happy with the "little" burger. The fries are always served in a cup, but the cup never holds all the fries, so you get a bag full of fries, with a burger hidden at the bottom. :) The drink machine is one of the kind you would normally find at a new or classy theatre, where you select a drink from a digital menu, and choose your add-ins, like vanilla or cherry flavoring. The reason I give it 4 stars, instead of 5, is that it is indeed expensive. A typical combo (burger, fries, and drink) costs right around $15. And, while the burger is very good, you can cook better burgers at home. There may be classy restaurants where you can order better burgers, but this is one of the best fast-food burgers I've tried. read more

For a quick burger joint, it's very good. It's 100% beef with no fillers or preservatives. It's a delicious burger that doesn't make me sick, like other fast food burgers. Make note that the little burger is 1 patty and the burger is 2 parties. You can get all the toppings (ie: lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, pickles) for free, except cheese. The fries are very generously portioned. 2 can definitely split the regular size. All that being said, I think In n Out Burger is better, but there isn't one in Memphis, so Five Guys will do read more

Being a sucker for subliminal marketing I decided that this was the weekend for testing out 5 Guys in Bartlett. I love the idea that you can call in your order or send it through an app on your phone. I love the awesome space age coke machines (who would have thought how addictive raspberry coke might be). The burger was good but the fries were a little limp. They weren't bad...just not to my liking. Oh..and it is not cheap. There have been some issues with flies inside and when I saw one land on the food, the staff promptly threw it away and made myself and my wife new burgers and covered them while the meat was cooking. This location is totally out of my way, but I had a 3 hour pregnancy glucose test (which requires you to fast for 12 hours) this morning at my doctor's office which is in the area and needless to say, I was starving when I left. Since I won't get the results back for 2 days, I figured let's do it up right just in case. I'm going to agree with the reviewer who stated that this is a knock off of In-N-Out Burger. I totally agree. I got here right at noon and the place was annoyingly packed. I ordered quickly enough, but then awaiting my number to be called was kind of a nightmare. I couldn't hear the guy yelling out orders, so I had to vacate my seat to stand in the ginormous line of "dwellers" who I assume couldn't hear their orders either. While waiting for about 10 minutes for my made to order burger, my seat got stolen twice. I was about ready to just huff it back to my car and devour my food there. When I got the brown paper, grease laden bag, I thought better of it and found another seat. Totally confused by the fry experience here. Why do you serve your fries in a paper cup if you are going to then dump another scoop on top once they are in the bag? Why would you put my burger at the bottom of this mess so I have to dig my hand into a grease filled bag? I had to get up and retrieve another round of napkins just to clear my hands off after this debacle. I got my burger with cheese, mayo, pickles, tomato and mushrooms. It was fork and knife messy, so I assumed it would be stellar. In reality, it was nothing short of average. I wasn't wowed at all- especially given the nightmare of a process to get the food in the first place. The fries deserve their own paragraph. Why? Because I have heard nothing but mad love raving about these fries. I even read repeated advertisements on the wall about how these were voted "Best Fries in fill-in-the-blank-city-here." Are these people void of taste buds? I can appreciate the whole fresh potato thing, but mine were barely cooked, mealy in the center and not even browned. When I picked them up they immediately bent in the middle and broke, leaving even more pools of grease on my brown bag. I ate the 5-10 that I found suitable and dumped the rest. Dumping the rest was against my better judgement as the french fry servings here are rather large- no seriously don't even bother with the large. You could easily share a regular with a friend no problems. I will give Five Guys credit for offering malt vinegar as an option, though. I love malt vinegar with my fires and can never find it as an option anywhere. My whole experience was kind of lackluster. When I left I found myself thinking I wished I would have stopped at the Wendy's down the street. Their fries are much better and their burgers aren't far off from this place. This is a great burger joint. I wouldn't recommend making this a family night out, due to the prices being so high. It would be nice if their burgers came with fries, instead of purchasing them separately. A burger alone would run you about the same amount as a combo with a regular drink at another burger place. The one thing that Five Guys succeeds at is not packing their hamburger meat too tightly; this results in a juicier product than you get almost anywhere else. Other than that, though, the meat isn't very flavorful. As others have noted, it could stand a bit more seasoning. While the fries aren't very crisp, they are tasty, so I can live with that. read more
