I'm about to commit heresy and betray myself. I think Five Guys Burgers is better than In-n-out. There. I said it. The patties - very good. The buns - Sickeningly good. The toppings - really fresh. I don't any strong opinion about the venue - yes, its busy and the guy is yelling out orders all over the place but I've never much noticed. The fries are good - try cajun style. I've heard people claim Five Guys is just like In-nOut, better than In-n-Out, or whatever. First, this place is nothing like In-n-Out, but considering there is no In-n-out within acceptable distance from our house, Five Guys is definitely a great alternative. Five Guys burgers are delicious, no doubt about that. Their fries I would even say are better than In-n-Out. However the curious lack of shakes on the menu, higher prices, and not just overall not being as good makes Five Guys not in the same category. I've never understood the In n' Out fervor and I've never been to Steak n' Shake, but I do love Five Guys. The burgers are deceptively big-- I can't finish a "little" bacon cheeseburger. My order is usually a little bacon cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms, lettuce, onion, tomato, ketchup, and light mayo. It's great thar you can customize however you want. The Cajun fries are great. This place was decent. I don't understand the burger and peanut combo. They just don't go good together. The toppings didn't have that fresh taste. While they pride themselves on the fries, they are way over cooked and dry. If you are looking for something comparable to In n Out, this is not the place. I have been to Five Guys a couple times in the past and have never been that impressed. My experience at this location this last weekend was better. The line moved quickly. My order was taken correctly. And they were cool with me having my dogs on the edge of the outside seating area. I think the main reason I have not cared for the burgers here in the past is "lack of choice". Now, your first thought may be, how can there be a lack of choice when there are so many toppings to choose from? The number one problem for me is the bun. I just do not care for this "sweetish" and "wonder-bread spongy" bun they use. And, sadly, it is the ONLY bun option. If they would let you pick a regular sesame bun, or a kaiser roll, or anything else, I would be much happier. Secondly, the only cheese choice is American, which is pretty bland and reminds me of Velveeta. Once again, letting me choose cheddar, or Swiss, or pepper jack would be a really nice option. Lastly, I have had soggy five guys burgers in the past. Something about how ketchup or A-1 absorbs into that sponge of a bun causes issues, and the whole thing disintegrates. I fixed that this time by getting the condiments on the side. The bun sweetness was less cloying than on previous trips, and the bacon added some flavor to the cheese. So, I had an "okay" burger this time (better than the "bad" ones on previous trips). The fries were quite good, and free peanuts are always nice. Also, this location has the new super huge soda choices machine, which is cool as long as the person in front of you is not indecisive. read more

Five Guys is the best substitute for In N Out in Denver. It's not quite the same, but the low maintenance menu and ordering process (and even the decor) remind me of In N Out. The fries are made from freshly cut potatoes (they even tell you exatly where they got them from, it's written on a board near the register). The burgers here are hot and juicy and tasty. I was in yesterday with a fairly large order, six burgers and fries and it only took them about 10 minutes to get it all cooked and bagged up for me. read more

On the walls of Five Guys is signage for best-priced burger awards. I feel otherwise. It is a great hamburger, but I think it's a bit expensive. If the price included fries, I would be more on board. Along those lines, if you dine with a group sharing fries is a great idea, as the portions are large (even for a small). Delicious food. Hands down. The burgers, fries, and toppings are all prepared fresh daily. The dining experience is fun and full of energy. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I don't think I've ever been in a cleaner restaurant. Helpful hints: Extra toppings are free including bacon. Free refills. You can order your fries half and half so that you get both cajun and Five Guys style fries. If you have a special instruction then tell them and they will do it for you. Try a grilled cheese with a patty. Make sure you TIP the staff. They work hard to make your order and dining experience perfect. read more

I ordered a drink while ordering my food & when I would reach to take the cup from the employees hand, he would pull it away from me. He did this at least three times like it was some sort of game until I finally was quick enough to grab it from his hand, but why would he do that if the cup/drink was something that I was going to pay for? It doesn't make any sense. This incident happened at this location over a decade ago, but since Five Guys is trending on Twitter right now it reminded me of the experience. All the other reviews for this place are hysterical like the lady who was ALL bent out of shape that the door was locked and the open sign was on. Being in America problems I guess. YES, they are overpriced, YES you have to pay for fries separately, YES those of us with food allergies can be scared of this place. I had heard so much about Five Guys that my husband and I decided to give it a try today. At $30.00 for 2 burgers, 1 fries, and 2 soft drinks, I would rather go to a sit down restaurant. It's run by a bunch of kids; you feel like you're eating in a garage; and the burgers were missing some of the ingredients ordered. I was completely unaware that Five Guys was a chain joint until I happened upon them here in Denver instead of South Carolina where I had originally enjoyed their juicy burger. After scratching my head for a few minutes with a puzzled look on my face, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and support a non-local burger joint. If you have any worries about grease stains getting on your clothes or have arteries that are clogged with all sorts of crap, then Five Guys isn't the place for you. The sheer juiciness of the burger will cause you to wonder just how many calories you'll have to burn off in the gym. Braving the grease is a delicious enterprise and promises you a rewarding experience. In case you hate cow meat in patty form, the standard tubed meat product (i.e. hot dog) is also available with pretty decent fries and free peanuts. Five Guys will never beat my favorites, Park Burger and Highland Tap and Burger, but it's a very, very good secondary option in the Lone Tree area. read more

Most definitely one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. Freshly made ground beef patties makes all the flavor difference in the world. I used to be content with a pre-made frozen patty, but trust me...it's like night and day. You can order your beef-ilicious burger with a variety of toppings and I don't care if you are training to be a sumo-wrestler, a small order of fries will be more than plenty. (I was quickly corrected by the cashier when I tried to order a large fry for the four of us to share, he brought me to my senses and put us down for a small. I have been to other 5 guys and this is the best one I have experienced. The Fries are amazing! I ordered the small burger with way to many toppings, and it was perfect. Lots of open seating at lunch time. The wait was minimal, about 5 minutes. It is not the best burger, not even close, But it is a quick fix, with minimal wait. The bun needs some work. Definitely In-n-Out inspired, but with a few twists. The standard burger is very similar to a double double, but even messier. I needed a fork to finish mine, which was loaded up with all the condiments. Don't even think about eating one of these while driving. The free peanuts could use some salt. The iced tea is excellent. I know it's a crime, but I didn't try the fries. Bottom line: great burger! read more

2nd 5 Guys I have been to location-wise. The burgers, they are divine. The fries -- even the plain ones -- are pretty good; the cajun ones are better. But there's a reason they are divine -- they are utter Caloric Nightmares and a good 50% of their calories, no joke, are locked in fat. I don't blame 5 Guys -- that's how they choose to roll and I respect them for that; there are many calorically fatty things that taste great. It's a little alarming when you have a full-size burger (read: 2 patties, since a "junior" at 5 Guys in 1 patty) and a *small* fries and end up consuming 1500 calories in 1 meal. Not kidding...I do give them props for putting up nutritional info on their websites. Same great 5 Guys service and help; same awesome multi-flavored multi-drink soda machines (you know, the ones where you can add flavors if you so choose), same peanuts to snack on if you're absolutely ravenous and can't wait 5 minutes for your custom order to complete. It's a shame that on their formidable toppings menu, they don't have fried egg or sliced avocado -- even if they did charge extra for them. I'd shriek in ecstasy like a 60s fangirl at a Beatles show if they did. (Maybe that's why they haven't. 0:) ) I've read some of the rated-average or less reviews here and am left shaking my head. Of course it's not the "perfect" burger place; few places are, even fewer ones that are chains. Some people would never be happy, I think. Yes, they are a little pricey -- but to be fair, it's also pretty monstrous-sized-burgers, especially when you take advantage of the free toppings. And if you don't, whose fault is that? Having now tried all of the big three burger spots (In-N-Out, Five Guys, and Shake Shack), I can now say with certainty that Five Guys comes in a distant third. The meat had no flavor, the bun was soggy, blech. I would choose a bunch of other burgers over these any day. This location used to be great - consistently good burgers and fries and clean. Stopped in today... prob a year or so since our last visit. The prices are way higher than they used to be! Almost 10$ just for a bacon cheeseburger? Ok, whatever. Order our food and looked for a table. Every single table was dirty. And there was only one other table with people. The place was empty as it was only 4:30pm. There were like 4 or 5 ppl behind the counter... no one could wipe down some tables? Went to get a drink. Love the freestyle machine but zero Sprite products available. And the machines and whole condiment area were just filthy! Like I didn't want to touch anything dirty. Generally speaking, Five Guys is my favorite burger place ever. (Except for my house of course I make the best burger in Colorado if not the world.) This particular place was not very good though. I am beginning to think their expansion is ruining the good thing they had going. Seriously meh. The only reason I even ate here is because the Firehouse Subs next door wasn't even open yet and I had 10 minutes to grab something to eat on my way to work. No choice. Five Guys it is. Their burgers come in 2 sizes: "Big" and "Little." The big burgers come with two patties stacked. That's good for beef lovers. The single patty "little" burger was enough for me. It comes on a sesame seed bun and you can add on as many toppings as you want. The taste reminded me of a burger you would get at Sonic or someplace mediocre in the fast food chains. Their fries are seriously overkill. I love potatoes and I love fries. I ordered the "regular" i.e. "small" size cup. Not only was the cup overflowing with fries, they filled the greasy brown bag half full with them. While most fry lovers would find that to be awfully generous I found it to be awfully gluttonous. The fries aren't bad but are a bit too salty for my liking. I ate the fries in the cup and threw away the excess in the bag. It's just a bit too much. I should have gone to Smash Burger instead. read more

FGB&F serves a really good burger and their selection of free toppings make the price a bargain. My "beef" is with their fries and the atmosphere. I like their fries but they offer only one size. Unless you're dining with others and share, you'll end up trashing 2/3 of the order. How about a half order with a commensurate price? Regarding the atmosphere, I can live with the rather sterile dining area. However, the guy yelling out "number 74" or "number 82, you're order is ready" gets old real quick. He doesn't simply call out or announce the order, he yells across the room. I'm part deaf and it still makes me jump. Even using their P.A. system would be better. Burgers are great, love the cajun fries. Avoid the coke machines. Flavor is never quite right as you get a small blast of the guy-in-front-of-you's grape coke and the people trying to figure it out just creates an unnecessary line. Get a tea instead. Hmmmm..... Not too sure where all this hype comes from. First off, it does not compare to In N Out in any way - that's like comparing apples to oranges!!
