I took off one star because they spread the ketchup and mustard on the bun like mayo which made the bun soggy by the second bite.... My husband likes going to Five Guys but I do not. The fries are so soggy and for the price of 2 hamburger and 1 order of fries, I can go to a sit down restaurant and have a full meal with a meat, 2 vegetables and a drink. When my husband wants to go here, we make 2 stops, one for his Five Guys meal and another stop so I can get some decently priced food. I truly don't know how this place stays open. read more

We were in the neighborhood of San Jose Boulevard and decided to stop in for lunch. In my opinion, this is the best chain restaurant for burgers and fries. I had the regular cheeseburger with all of the available free toppings. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger with fried onions and mushrooms. Both were great. We also split regular size fries. The fries are delicious. The restaurant also offers free peanuts while you wait. We recently tried this location as we'd sort of written it off after Covid. For a while they seemed to be closing around 3pm, but on this occasion they were open after 5pm on Saturday and the posted hours finally seemed to be back to normal. We were warmly greeted at the counter when we ordered our burgers. The restaurant was clean and well lit. Your typical Five Guys. Our food came out promptly. The burgers were very good and everything was just as we ordered. The only negative was the soda machine. All flavors had too much carbonation and little syrup. I love Five Guys burgers, I just wish they weren't a contributing cause of my spare tire. I guess the best food is always the most unhealthy food. I love their gigantic double bacon cheeseburgers and their small (gigantic) fries! And I love how the fries are never the same taste wise since Five Guys alternates between different potatoes to make the freshest in-house fries there are. This location is consistent with all the other Five Locations I've been to when it comes to food taste and quality. I'm giving 4 stars (4.5 actually) because the crew at this location and the Southside Blvd location are better than most. I've visited during busy times, slow times and near closing time and it's the same speedy smiling service every time. The staff was very friendly when we walked in the door. We were instantly greeted and you could tell everyone was hard at work - kind of nice to be able to view them cooking and preparing your meal. We walked in knowing what we wanted and couldn't wait to see it in front of us. Little bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, pickles, grilled onions and ketchup for me and a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, grilled mushrooms and bbq sauce for the man. Of course we had to add on a large Cajun fry to complete the order. Our food was cooked fresh and our hot burgers were out to us in under 10 minutes. Pro tip: a large fry really equals about two! They always place a scoop of fries in the bag. You could tell how delicious they were going to be from the grease on the bag. My mouth is watering writing this review. Went back to see if the gynormous amount of french fries was a fluke. Got a milkshake this time around with bacon and chocolate. Sadly, the great bacon in a milkshake experiment went awry, instead of sweet and mildly salty the bacon was jarringly crunchy and salty. Still a damn fine milkshake, even if it was on the small side. I've never had that issue at Five Guys. Now let's move on to the fries. The shop posts where the potatoes that day are from. They are cut and fried fresh. And they're so darn good. Remember when you order that you get a cup plus a healthy extra scoop of fries dumped into your bag. A small is usually enough for me and friend to share. Bonus: they have malt vinegar for your fries. If you have a peanut allergy, you don't want to walk inside. There are bins of peanuts for people to munch on while waiting for their food to cook and the shells can get all over the place. I got home with our food tonight and discovered we were missing my daughter's grilled cheese and her fries tasted funny (almost like they had sugar on them instead of salt). This Five Guys is pretty good. Nice staff, good service, mostly clean, and good food. You order the meals individually meaning the fries, drink and burger is rang up separately. No combos. They have double patty burgers, single patty burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, fries, etc. You can choose different toppings. There's a option called "all the way" which consist of grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, pickles, mayo, ketchup, mustard, and tomatoes all in your burger. Their fries are awesome. You can have regular or Cajun seasoning. The cool thing about the fries is that they fill the cup to the top and also add s little more in the bag. So when you get your fries, you have the cup and fries in the bag. Very crispy and hot. I got the Hamburger which has the 2 patties with all the way. Cooked well and juicy. After a long day I decided I wanted a juicy home cooked bacon cheeseburger but had no desire in cooking one myself. After thinking of where I could possibly go I decided on Five Guys. While their burgers are delicious there's really nothing that gives them that extra advantage to something you couldn't have made yourself. The only difference between their home cooked burger and your own is that you'll pay a lot more for it here then you'll spend anywhere else. This is probably a trip I make once every 6-7 months mainly because of the price and while the quality of the food is good there's really nothing that makes the taste of their food stand out over something that I can make at home. I can say that the workers here are very friendly and their establishment is always clean. I love that here you can see everything so you can watch exactly how they make your burger. I've always thought it was nice to watch. They don't have a meal or any deals that I've ever heard of so you'll spend most of your money if you want more than just a burger. When I walk in the door and I get that smell of burgers being cooked on the grill and the salted peanuts in the box... I just love it! My knees get weak! You can have a burger fixed virtually any way you want. Today I'm having the small cheeseburger which is plenty enough for me. All the way plus A-1 sauce, grilled onions and mushrooms and a small order of Cajun dusted Fries. Bless me Father for I am about to sin! After ordering I scamper over and get my drink, then get a box of the most beautiful salted peanuts you ever saw. Sit impatiently while enjoying my peanuts, and wait for my number to be called. When they call magic number 62 I literally run like the Roadrunner to grab my bag of burger ambrosia! It's very important that you do not take your burger out because they are at the absolute best when they are piping hot. The fries are unbelievable in their molten lava hot state. You must keep them within a minimum of 20 feet from where they were prepared to get the full wonderful effect. When I walk up and see the bag with a little grease spots on the side I know that there's something wonderful coming my way. I grab my bag and head back to the table. What really is joyful is to peek into your bag... it's like Christmas morning, and see a bag full of freshly cut hot Cajun fries mounded on top of your burger wrapped in tinfoil. Nothing fancy here. Just your wonderful burger wrapped in tin foil to keep it piping hot like God intended it to be. The first bite sends me into a burgergasm! It is yummy beyond yummy. No talking; no looking around. They actually have a sign in the restaurant that tells you the Farm today's potatoes and peanuts came from. The Staff are very friendly and customer satisfaction oriented. The place is super clean including the Johns. The prices are very fair. Parking is very easy just outside. The music is a bit loud... but I think meant to heighten your catatonic burger state. COVID has changed this business. I go to 5 Guys on San Jose Blvd in Jacksonville. The peanuts are bagged up now. I rated it 3 stars because it is really pricy for what they are serving. A double hamburger and order of fries will run $15.00. The cashiers are not afraid of asking for tips. Beware of the bathrooms! People are eating in and socializing at large tables. Seems like a potential hot spot to me. What I like best are all the advertisements on the wall that say how great they are. Staff changing with each school year. Get in/get out. The landlord Tony Sleiman has engineered the parking spaces so only compact cars or motorcycles can fit. Blame the city of Jacksonville for their strange parking to store ratios. Seems like they are always closed early. Two times this week we went by to get food roughly an hour before they close and they were already closed. This has happened more times before. The hours on their website say 11am-4pm, while the hours on the door and google say 11am-10pm. Some consistency would be nice. I have been at this location many times. I really like the burguers. The soda machines give lots of options which i enjoy very much. They machines even have fanta zero strawberry which reminds me of a soda made regionally in the part of Mexico where i grew up. My complaints are fries are poor quality. It looks like the fries are just pieces of left over potato and no nice size fries are of the batches. Another complaint is i dont like to hear the cook and helper plus the cashier talk really loud of their last nite or previous days adventure. If you understand me i just dont want to hear it keep it to yourselves. Flavor of burguers is very good. Hot dogs always seemed a little burned but they are ok. Just ok. Service was good and fast. So called in an order to five guys on San Jose Blvd and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes. Since we live nearby- I ended up hanging up and drove over to order (my kid really wanted five guys). I told the manager about the call in wait. He apologized profusely and without being asked - told me our meals were comped and asked what we wanted. Wow - way to turn a loss around. I only wanted food for the kid but for all the manager knew - I was ordering for five - and he was going to comp the whole order. Always good when the manager does the right thing. He was way more generous than needed or expected but it sure left me feeling good - and I have told multiple friends about this - so good advertising.
