Little Cheeseburger
DJ C.

If you have ever eaten at a Five Guys before you probably have experienced what I am about to say, greasy floors. The floors will mot disappoint. I actually witnessed one customer slipping around on the greasy floor in fun. The restroom doors had greasy/food stains on the handles and door, which was not very appealing. Ok, the food was good. The fries were not as fresh as they could have been. The burger was really good. We did get the "little" versions of the burgers, which basically means one patty vs two. We did get "everything" on it which includes mushrooms and sautéed onions with all the normal toppings. I would get the burger again for sure. The total bill with three burgers and one large order of fries came to be ~$23, so it's a bit pricey. I would go again but not too often. Also, it does take some time to get your food. So plan accordingly. It's probably a good thing as they make to order.

My boyfriend had a bonus reward at Five Guys with his Chase card that was expiring, so we decided to grab a quick lunch at this 28th Street location. I hadn't been to Five Guys in quite awhile, but I'm always excited for a burger! I forgot that the menu is kind of overwhelming in the fact that you can get any toppings you want so I sort of panicked. I ordered a Little cheeseburger with ketchup, grilled mushrooms, and grilled onions. The regular burgers come with two patties, the Littles come with one. We also ordered a small fry to share. You can also get a hot dog, bunless burger, veggie sandwich, grilled cheese, or a BLT. I would never get anything but a burger at Five Guys just because they're so good! The patties are thin and juicy, and the buns are toasted. The Little burgers are less messy and easier to manage than the double patties. The fries are always fresh cut and piping hot, and they usually give you double the order in the bag. A few minor complaints about this location on this particular visit: many of the tables had been left in disarray but I chalk that up to people not cleaning up their messes before leaving. The girl taking our order was not friendly either. I would definitely go back again if I was craving a burger and in the area, though. Parking is easy and ample and our food came out quickly and was all fresh.

Bacon cheeseburgers (turns out their doubles) and fries. I swear there's that many fries again spilled in the bag!

After loads of fun, my daughter had worked up quite an appetite, and was hoping for a greasy burger and yummy fries. She wanted to try Five Guys for the first time, and she was not disappointed (nor was I!). We both got the bacon cheeseburger - who knew it was a double burger! - and fries, and she got a strawberry milkshake. Mmmm, we both loved our giant burgers, though neither of us could finish eating ours, and the fries were just awesome with malt vinegar and ketchup. I swear we got twice as many fries as we fit in the size cups we ordered! Her milkshake had little chunks of strawberry that were just delicious. She's already anxious to go back! And I won't say no.

Just ordered from here today, absolutely terrible idea food was cold and sloppy who puts lettuce on a hotdog I didn't order it that way but that's how it came. Burgers were pink we literally just threw them away. The fries are greasy. $50 for a meal we had to basically throw away. NEVER eating Five guys again could've just eaten to go Applebees SMH. Worst then McDonald's

My most recent meal: 2 awesome double burgers and a sad little hot-dog thing.

One of the better burger chains out there. Typically, you don't see an improvement in a place like this over time, but this Five Guys seems better than it did when it opened. The service remains good and there is never a long wait for your food despite it being made to order. The menu is pretty much burgers, fries, hot dogs and shakes. After having sampled most everything on the menu, I would advise sticking with the burgers. The hot dogs are not bad enough to make baby Jesus cry, but they are pretty sad. For the French Fries, they do this thing where they give you a mountain of 'em no matter what size you order. I ordered two "small" size fries and got a bag with two small cups overflowing with fries and the rest of the bag filled with fries. The fries are pretty tasty, so I don't mind having a lot of extras. The burgers are not as greasy as some purport, but you have to admit to yourself that you aren't here for a healthy meal. What matters is that they are tasty and generously sized (a normal portion is two patties.) My kids declared this place their favorite burger chain, which is fine by me since they can never totally finish their meals and I never seem to be too full.

Full size cheeseburger! So. Much. Cheese.

Nonla Burger - Crispy Chicken Sando meal ($14)

The menu is concise and they do these classics well. They also have a daily milkshake and weekly food features. I still need to visit for their Sunday brunch! I've now been to the GR location many times and really appreciate how dialed in they've gotten over the years. You can order at the counter to go or get table service. The space is large and bright and good for groups. On my most recent visit, I was trying to decide between a burger and a chicken sandwich, and realized I'd never had the BBQ chicken club, which is listed as a grilled chicken breast with BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. Our server told me that people like it if they are looking for something without fried chicken... but I really wanted fried chicken. So I asked if I could do that with fried chicken instead and she said absolutely! Their menu is super customizable, which is great to know. Our food came out quickly and I was impressed with the presentation of the sandwich. I like that they wrap it in paper which makes it easier to eat. It was a little messy towards the end with the BBQ sauce and mayo, but it was delicious and totally worth it. The veggies were fresh, the chicken was juicy, and the bacon was crispy... I'm thinking this might be my new go-to! Their burgers and other chicken sandwiches are also delicious. They have a full bar and fun cocktails, and happy hour Tuesday-Friday! Parking in the area is always a bit of a challenge, especially with continued construction nearby, but there are metered spots and some paid lots within walking distance.

Came back to Nonla and didn't get their fastball this time. Was able to try their "Restaurant week"…read morefeature which had a wagyu patty, caramelized onions, tempura onion rings, and a French onion aioli on it. Came with fries and an apple tart for dessert. This just shows Nonla knows how to make a good burger no matter what the toppings or sauces are. Burger was cooked well, plenty of fries, and the toppings were simple and not over the top. Top tier burger for a place that already has a go-to burger for me. Always a fan of Nonla when on Bridge Street!

In other words, all these weeks later, it appears they gave our table to someone else and cancelled us. I'm sure the food is fine, but I will never know because they did us dirty and now we can't find a reservation elsewhere in town, as everywhere else is booked for the very busy night. Worst part, there was no sincere apology. Would not recommend, as they are not a reliable business partner. EDIT 11/14/25: THE DAY AFTER I POSTED THIS, THE ASSISTANT MANAGER CALLED US BACK, APPOLOGIZED AND REBOOKED OUR TABLE AFTER GVSU GRADUATION. I AM UPDATING MY RATING, AND WILL UPDATE AGAIN AFTER OUR EVENT NEXT MONTH. SO FAR, THEY HAVE MADE THINGS RIGHT FOR US! (although we did spend two hours last night calling every other restaurant in the area to try and book and had not luck, causing more stress). EDIT 12/8/2025: GVSU's commencement got out early, so we headed to the restaurant to see if they could seat us a little earlier than our reservation. They did! I'm so glad they suggested it!! They have a just ok beer list, but had plenty of wines, cocktails, and mocktails, so they really have something for everyone. One of our friends got a key lime pie martini that looked really pretty; she said it was really sweet, but good. I really liked the wine that I ordered. Food-wise we all had a really hard time picking what we wanted since everything on the menu sounded so good! I kept it pretty basic with a half Caesar salad and a jalapeno hot honey pizza (which also had pepperonis - yay!). My husband had the jambalaya, which looked amazing, and he really enjoyed! I tried one of the shrimps and really liked the flavors. I would probably order this the next time. One of our friends also had the jambalaya and loved it as well. The ambience was pretty good. Its already a little noisy due to so many hard surfaces and high ceiling, and they also had someone there performing live music. The music itself was nice, but our table was right in front of the musician, so it was pretty hard to carry on a conversation. It was also dinnertime on a Sunday, and pretty busy. The waiting area in the back is pretty awkward with how many people were there. Its great that there are benches along one wall, but with people standing as well as sitting on the benches it was a really tight squeeze for how many people kept walking back and forth through the corridor. Overall I really enjoyed the dinner. I would hopefully go again when during off-peak hours so it wouldn't be as busy. The food and drink will definitely bring me back though!
