We came here for a quick meal and easily spent over $50 for us three. They used to be the tastiest fast food burger around, but now it's cheaper and tastier to go to a sit-down restaurant. We ordered the regular fries to share among us three, and there were so many that we didn't even eat them all. I ordered the small bacon cheeseburger and added onion and ketchup. It was dry and left me wanting more. I do like how they let you add as many toppings you'd like at no extra charge. I also ordered the strawberry milkshake. We got our food before our shakes were ready, that was a little disappointing how long it took to get. It was also not very well blended. There were lots of big chunks of strawberry getting stuck in the straw. Five guys used to be the best fast food burger in town, but now I'd rather go to In n Out, better quality and cheaper price. read more

I like 5 Guys food. Burgers fresh and tasty. Service is good and friendly. What I don't like is the loud rock music. I never feel relaxed when I leave. My BP is up and I feel agitated by the loud 'thump thump thump' of the rock music. My suggestion is go to In-n-Out burger, it's more relaxed and friendly. Total disappointment tonight! I made my order online through the app when about ten minutes away. Arrived at the store and clicked "I'm here". Inside the store was chaos - perhaps two dozen people waiting for orders. After a few minutes of waiting my app said "Thank you for picking up your order" and logging it as complete - but no order was received. I asked the counter staff and they shrugged and said "I have no way of tracking your order - there are many stacked up ahead of you." A manager said it might be another 30 minutes or more... so I asked for a refund. She didn't know how to do that, so a second manager ("Zach") took my email down and said it would be a few days to process. I am professionally embarrassed for you. I have never seen an established organization like Five Guys have such a monumental breakdown in supply chain management. Customer service was spot on! We definitely enjoyed our experience and will be coming back to this location even though it's further away from our house. The GM went above and beyond making sure we ordered the right items and had the best experience possible! He even took special care of my two year-old son and offered him a complementary milkshake. We frequent this location several times a month. We love the burgers. The restaurant, however, needs to be managed better. The last two times we went, our order was put up on the to go station and we waited over 10 minutes for a meal that should have come out pretty quick. Our last visit (8-13 around 7:00pm) there were 6 guys behind the counter, two were rough horsing around and very Loud. There were three customers in the store. When we had to go check on our order, the person handing out orders claimed that they called our number, but we are pretty sure that was not the case. They knew our number was an in-house order. The ketchup station where food is passed out was filthy. Tables had not been wiped down and the floors not swept. Two very unpleasant visits. We will most likely start going to a different Five guys. read more

I only gave four stars because I feel like I have had better preparation and service at other locations on different occasions, but overall I would recommend the Academy location. A tribute to my very first meal of the New Year: Oh man, I finally understand the expression " less is more" because of Five Guys Burgers. I've had some really good burgers all over this great nation: White Castle (Midwest), In n' Out (Cali and Vegas), Fatburger and Tommy Burger (LA), Pearl's (San Francisco), Squeeze Inn (Sacramento), Black Bear (Napa), Kuma's Corner (Chicago), Ikeda's (Auburn and Davis, CA) and now Five Guys...finally. I've heard their name being floated around from time to time around In n' Out location especially so I wasn't too surprised to see that they kept the menu simple with some additional upgrades to the burger formula. I'm mainly talking about bacon. Bacon bacon bacon....how I love the stuff. And it's the thin crispy kind of bacon that crumbles in your mouth the moment you pop it in your mouth. Not that froofy applewood smoked nonsense. This is good ol' fashioned bacon that compliments beef, not overpowers it. I'm not a huge beef eating kind of girl anymore. I lean towards buffalo or chicken nowadays but once or twice a month, I get a little lightheaded and incredibly sluggish and find that a boost of red meat really perks a girl up. I also use blood donations as an excuse to myself to eat more burgers as well. :-) I thought it was safe to come in for lunch at 3:00 but I was definitely wrong. So very wrong. The parking lot was packed, the smell of beef was in the air, and the crowd inside was buzzing. Thankfully, they have on-line ordering if you're in a hurry. The line to order was backed up along the wall and around the corner but the cashier up front was very efficient and I was up there in no time flat. I kind of starved myself in anticipation of all the fries I was planning on eating but decided to stick with the little burger with bacon, everything, and jalapenos with a side of regular fries. Lunch comes out to around $10 with a drink but you get to play that fun Coke machine and fulfill every gluttonous Coke-filled desire you may have had as a kid. I only had to wait about 4 minutes as the crew quickly went from order #76 to #88 in practically no time flat. To fill the time and space in my stomach, I grabbed a few peanuts by the door and grabbed a seat by the Coke machine. My first glance into the fry filled sack sort of made me regret ordering the fries. People are not joking around when they say the portions are HUGE! It fills half a small paper bag and they're thick fresh cut and hot! I used to go to the original one in Northern VA and it was a true experience. Line out the door, greasy fries in a bag, great made to order burgers. Clientele included suits, construction workers, students, etc. Fast forward 15 years, to the chain experience in Csprings (among other locations I have visited). Five guys has pretty much become a formula now and the results are pretty good. Except for the fries thing mentioned above, its at the top of its game in this category, which I would compare to Fatburger (terrible in my book) and Smashburger (I would rate pretty highly). To those that compare it to In and Out, I don't think that is fair. In and Out is an institution, a cultural icon. There is a whole lot of mystique that comes with that name. Five guys is not there yet and I dont think is aspiring to get there. read more

But it's still basically a fast food joint; and me paying around $10 for a combo doesn't happen very often. I guess I've just never bought into the hype. My son insisted we have dinner here and he usually only has that 6 year old enthusiasm for a certian chain. I loved the red and white interior. Made the place seem bright and cheery. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and almost was intimidated by the "that's two patties" from the cashier. That was until I unwrapped the burger. The burger was cooked to perfection. Tasted moist and juicy. I loved the variety of toppings you can get on the burger... Even fresh jalopenos. The Cajun spice on the fries was weak (and I'm a wimp).
