Brighton Burger - The devil went down to brighton

Brighton Burger

It is both a blessing and a nightmare that Brighton Burger is so close to my current flat. A…read moreblessing because, let's face it, these are some of the best burgers I've ever tasted, and a nightmare because it's going to be hard not to get one every single day... Set up in a tiny, shack-like kitchen just beside the Giggling Squid, Brighton Burger serves hearty, honest, flavoursome food. Their menu is wonderful, hosting many unusual eats and obscure burgers - from wild boar to buffalo- but they also server your usual burger and fries to a very high standard. The burgers themselves are almost moist and full of flavour. So moist, in fact, that my takeaway burger soaked through the paper bag (my only teeny complaint!). This can be forgiven though, for as soon as you bite into the juicy burger, cuddled by sweet, soft bun and topped with whatever glorious accompaniments you opted for, everything can be forgiven. Literally everything. This last visit had me trying out the buffalo burger, which was absolutely delicious! Not as different tasting as you might expect it to be, but certainly different enough that you notice you're tasting something new and out of the ordinary! I added chips to my order and they came out, all thin and crispy, just how I like them! I almost typed there were 'too many chips' there, but let's be honest there's no such thing. There were loads of them though, in one portion, so maybe share between two if your appetite is not massive! The man who served me was pleasant (they always are!) and the service was quick and painless. The burger and chips came to around £8 which, though not the cheapest in Brighton, is so so reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food here! There's also a few tables and chairs dotted out by the front of the place, so you can sit in the sun (when it's about) and enjoy your burger in peace, watching the world go by! If you're in Brighton and you haven't tried these burgers then, firstly, shame on you, and secondly TRY THEM. I'll eat my hat if you're not impressed and back again for seconds the next week! :P

This is really a special kind of burger place…read more We are spoilt for choice in Brighton, and so much of our community is staunchly on team burger brothers, with splinter faction taking root for the admirable efforts of GBK. This is a call for burger pluralism. As Sophie said, Brighton Burger is equally good in a different way. Every burger here is special. At first glance each one of them could have come from a different restaurant. Most visibly, the buns are completely distinct. All time favorites are of course the Brighton Burger and the Ranch. There is something here for you regardless of what kind of burger you like. Purists ought to grab the eponymous Brighton Burger, but even if you want pulled pork there's a sandwich for you in the Tennesse Terror. Rest assured, the patties are succulent, the unique buns are always on point, and the veg is top notch. Just look at the photos and try this place out.

I've had a lot of fried chicken and this happens to be the absolute BEST. It's a tiny corner shop…read morethat probably seats less than 25-30 people and there are a few seats outside. It was my last night in Brighton and I had done loads of research and came upon this place, it's fairly new so not too many locals new about it but I decided to give it a try. The service was a little slow, one guy working but the food was way too fucking good. You have the option of wings with different sauces or fried chicken burgers. THEY ALSO HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS. I decided to order the Hot as Cluck burger with Fried Potato skins & 2 sauces. WOW.... I'm not even sure if I can use my words to describe how good this was. The thigh fillet was so juicy, moist and flavourful, the coating was crispy but the breading was evenly spread. It was topped with pickles, lettuce, & spicy chipotle slaw. As a side I got the fried potato skins... fuck French fries - these were insanely good. They were fully cooked, had a great crisp to it and a bit chewy. They were seasoned perfectly. I also decided to get 2 of the homemade sauces. The Thai basil & jalapeño creamy sauce and the Sweet Soy & Ginger. They were perfection. The Thai basil went great with the potatoes and I would splash a bit of the soy on the chicken burger. Now the most important part is after I had finished I didn't feel gross, I didn't feel as though I had eaten junk food! That's called quality right there. Please check this place out! Keep Eating, Angela

THIS IS A REPOST BECAUSE THEY TOOK MY ORIGINAL ONE, AND EVERYONE WHO WROTE ABOUT IT DOWN:…read more ALLERGY WARNING! My brother who wrote a review earlier was sent into anaphylactic shock and sent to the emergency room because of false promises made by the people who work here. We decided to go out as a family to eat, my mother is extremely careful where we eat, her as well as my aunt asked multiple times, and everyone claimed "everything is gluten free", so we sat down and ordered warning them again and again of his gluten allergy and ordering a gluten free bun. The food came out and they had messed up half the orders already, with small things like pickles when we asked for them to be removed ect. Then my brother started to panic because his burger wasn't right. We called the manger out, and he genuinely had no clue, which was extremely concerning. He then proceeded to let us know, the wrong burger was given to my brother, "so sorry". My brother then had to be injected with an epi-pen, which is extremely painful and traumatic, because of this restaurants negligence, and sat in the emergency room for hours. Overall if you have allergies, save yourself the emergency room visit, and eat somewhere else. Unless you don't have allergies then feel free, I guess. (We weren't compensated for any of this btw, I would sue if my brother wasn't so nice, for legal reasons this is a joke)

They came out saying we might of messed it up so I immediately took my epinephrine pen and got rushed to A&E for 5 hours. They ruined my whole day.

Smoque Grill - Double cheeseburger

Well is International Cheeseburger Day, what better place to get a cheeseburger from?…read more Easily the best burger you can get delivered to your door in Brighton, easily! That's why I keep using it. All home made patties, big ones too! The double burger is so big you can't fit it in your face without smothering your chin and cheeks in Mayo. This is no bad thing! So good they have won national accolades coming in the top 10 in Hungry House's best UK takeaway! Burgers are amazing. They also do pizza and kebabs. The only slight thing that let them down are the multi pack fries and onion rings. If these went homemade/handcut, this place will be perfect!!! Very reasonably priced! One of the best takeaways brighton has to offer. The shop itself has a limited number of seats if you decide to go there. Something I've done as it's on my route home from work!

Life is hard…read more Sometimes, all you want to do is be alone and stuff your face. Smoque Grill is my anti-depressant. I sit in my red reading chair, pull the coffee table as close as I can towards me, place the burger down directly in front of me and rest the open fries on the arm of the chair. If I need an extra little pick-me-up, you might see some chicken pops resting alongside the burger. Do not tell me that getting married or having your first child is "the best day of your life" until you have experienced this. I prefer the chicken burgers to the beef burgers. The chicken burgers are my favourite takeaway chicken burgers. My recommendation is the Cajun Steak Chicken Burger for those who like a little spice. The beef burgers are fine, perhaps even great for takeaway, but not exceptional. They are sometimes just a little too greasy and lack that beefy goodness that you expect from a great beef burger. They are pretty damn filling, though. All burgers can be served in either a brioche or soft flour bun. The majority of the meals from Smoque come in four different options: Single, Regular, Large and XL. If you're not a big eater, the single is plenty. If you're feeling pretty hungry, a regular will more than satisfy your hunger. If you need help sleeping, go for a large. If you want to put yourself in a 48-hour food coma, go for XL. The fries are pretty much your standard, skinny french fries. The cajun fries have a welcome kick. Oh, the chicken pops. You might not always need them, but you'll always want them. They are cute and succulent and come with sweet chilli dip. They are like a middle-class version of KFC's popcorn chicken. Delivery can be pretty slow. I've ordered a few times over the last year and every time delivery has taken around an hour and a half. But this gives you time to work up an appetite. To pull out your favourite chair and to pull up your favourite side table. Recline and stuff. You've earned this.

When I started working in London I finally had a chance to try Leon. Billed as "naturally fast…read morefood" I was still shocked to find how much of their menu is gluten free. Including the desserts. I loved it so much that I excitedly tweeted to them that I would singlehandedly keep a restaurant open in Brighton. And they replied to me telling me to wait. Well... the wait is over! Today I was invited to the opening of the new Leon Restaurant in Brighton which replaces Eat. I think this is a brilliant swap as Eat was far too similar to its neighbour Pret. But Leon is quite different in that it offers warm, hearty food. Setting up just before winter is also probably a good move. The decor is really nice and chilled out. They make good use of the space which I've previously found a bit dark and claustrophobic. Katy and I were greeted by some of the nice workers at Leon and told we could each choose a meal and drink to have on the house. We both went for the Moroccan Meatballs (on my recommendation). I had a lemonade to drink and Katy went for a green smoothie. We also picked up a few sweet treats: my favourite lemon and ginger slice and a billionaire shortbread for Katy. The meatballs are my favourite so I knew I would like them, but Katy had never been to a Leon and she loved it as well. She began talking about how close it is to her work and how she will be able to pop in on breaks for a relatively healthy and warm meal. We also tried searching for the menu online and a sneaky link to Deliveroo popped up. So we're hoping they're going to be one of our delivery options soon.
