My family loves Five Guys. The burgers are top notch, the fries are always fresh, and the peanuts always make the trip fun, but hopefully the Lone Tree brings nuts back, because we cannot come to this location anymore. The customer service here is just awful, and it is that way EVERY time we come in. Today we had to wait (along with the 4 other people waiting) until 11:05 (they open at 11) as the entire staff sat there and ate lunch as they looked at people try to open the door. Then when they finally opened the door late they were all scrambling to help the customers. Five Guys is one of those places you hear about from EVERYONE. All I heard was how awesome it was for what seemed like forever. Everyday on the way home from work it taunted me when I passed it to come on in and try it. So today, before catching a flick with my hubby, we stopped in for a couple burgers and some fries. I like that the menu is short and sweet (or savory in this case). And the fact that they have big boxes of in the shell peanuts for you to snack on while you are waiting on your order is a nice touch. It is counter service and the seating area reflects that - tables and chairs with a refill station and condiment station - well ketchup. When they call your number you go and pick up a big brown bag with grease soaking through it. I am not complaining :) I like a greasy burger! So I am ready to be impressed. We opened the bag to see a bag FULL of fries. We got 2 orders of reg. fries (which is a little cup), but they fill the bag with fries. Seriously. Tons!! The burgers are wrapped up in foil and when you open them up you are greeted with a two patties of meat, 2 slices of cheese, whatever toppings you chose (jalapenos, onions, tomato in my case) and a white bun. I couldn't wait for the first bite, and after sinking my teeth - eh, good. Not great, not the best, but a solid burger. The fries were next - these are probably the best part. Fresh cut fries with just a bit of salt. Simple, salty, beauty. For the convenience and value, Five Guys is a solid deal. I suppose it was just built up too big to meet my overblown expectations. Best burger I've had in Denver so far! As long as you remember that you are in a BURGER JOINT, theirs are pretty tasty. I had the bacon cheeseburger, which is actually a double. They cook it to order, so it might take a little while to get your grub, depending on how long the line is. The fresh cut fries are pretty good - huge portions! Tasty! The have a long list of free toppings, including grilled mushrooms! Most places would either have some sort of shroom burger or charge extra for that. Kudos for the toppings! Love that they have so many free options for toppings but didn't like that the burgers are all well done. The meat feels a little greasy but the overall flavor is great. The cajun fries were tasty but it was not cooked all the way through. Had a chef friend with me and she said sometimes people can get sick from real potato fries not cook all the way through like the ones we ordered. They are all located pretty far away from me. I probably won't come back. It wasn't anything extraordinary with the exception of the free toppings. I got so annoyed about hearing about this place so often I finally broke down and went. My co-workers have been raving about it for months. I hope that it was my first and last experience with a 5 guys burger. Any place that has to assault you with plaques and banners that tout the tastiness of their food I am somewhat suspicious of, and here as it turns out I was rightfully so. I found two hairs in my fries. Not one, but two. You'd think a place like this would have their employees be a little bit better about hygiene, national chain and all... but no. Anyways, the food is actually a decent price compared to others, but was it worth what I paid otherwise? No. I suppose it is really a matter of personal preference, but I did not enjoy anything about my burger. My meat was undercooked and nothing special, the tomatoes were really hard. The pickles aren't dill like you get everywhere else and I couldn't even taste the grilled onions that were on my burger. The bun was pretty much the only thing I really was able to taste, and that was like potato bread or something. It was so huge and so soft; it tasted doughy, like they hadn't finished baking it. The fries were okay, again not notable or memorable and WAY too much salt. Like, if you don't use ketchup to balance it out, you may as well stick your tongue on a salt lick. First time to eat at a five guys, it wasn't too bad but I think it's too expensive for the quality. I know it's all fresh beef and the fries are cut daily as sign posted throughout the store (but then why are there bags of fries on the floor acting as a partisan?) which is great but when I'm paying more than $7 for a burger I want it to wow me. I had the little bacon burger and my hubby had one of the ones with double patties. When we opened the burgers they'd put double patties on mine and not on his. We just pulled it off and slapped it on his burger. And it was nice that they give you a lot of fries, but just tossing extra into the bag on top of the cup was a bit annoying. Three stars for the food itself. This was my first time trying five guys. I got the cheeseburger with all the fixins, fries and a choco/strawberry shake. No lie I prefer In N Out's shakes. Yes they give you a fuck ton of fries. The burger was nice but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. It is pricey but maybe that's the cost cause add ons are free and the amount of fries they give you. I placed and paid for a pick up order through the five guys app. As the order was being prepared, I went to the grocery store to kill some time and arrived at Five Guys about an hour after I placed my order giving them ample time to complete it. When I arrived at the store, I went to the counter saying that I placed an order online and gave them my name. Suddenly the whole restaurant is confused. They don't have my order and after investigating for about 10 minutes they discovered that they gave my order away to someone else. Apparently a white lady came in (I am black) saying her name was also Sarah (understandably a common name) but made changes to the order. Whoever this lady was pretending to be me made away with $60 worth of food for free. For some strange reason, the restaurant employees were convinced I was running a scam trying to get a second duplicate order for free. The lady at the register called her manager and came back saying that "this time we'll give you your order, but next time you'll have to pay for it again." Why would I have to pay for my order twice? I'm not the one that gave it away! If anything my meal should have been complimentary for THEIR MISTAKE. I've worked in fast food before. There's procedures set in place to avoid situations like this such as asking the customer for the last 4 of the card that they placed the paid-for order with before giving away their food. Or simply asking for an order number. I'm honestly offended after my experience here. I used to frequent five guys, it's one of my favorite places to order from on my lunch breaks, but that's definitely going to change after today. 1 star because my food was fresh (as they had to remake it after giving it away) but they'd definitely be getting a 0 star review if that was an option. read more

Good food with energetic service! I ordered a "regular" cheeseburger and fries. The burger was huge and juicy and the fries were old school. The bag held the overflow of fries which was almost as much in the cup. The service was exceptional and personable. The counter person was hustling out on the floor, cleaning the tables which is nice to see. I usually need to ask the help to clean tables at the large burger chains. read more

Wow...fries...and also meaty goodness. I've heard good things about this place so I was down for tryin it out. Much to my surprise it was as good as people said. My friend and I ordered cheese burgers, mine was with green peppers,shrooms, and grilled onions. My veggies were cooked well and my meat was thick and juicy. It didn't fall apart like other similar chains do and wasn't over doing it. The only thing I wish was better about my burger was the cheese..sharp cheddar would have been the best. There is not a time of day when I do not crave a cheeseburger. The Boyfriend can ask me at any given time "What do you want to eat" and the first thing that pops into my head is cheeseburgers. I just love them. I do not however love a nasty fast food cheeseburger or an over priced over cooked burger. Five Guys does it just right. All the ingredients are fresh and the burgers are made to order. They also have sweet tea which is always welcome. The natural cut fries are seriously delicious with the skins still on but bring someone to share with because that is a tone of food! P.S. Get the burger with jalapenos and it will be even better. We always love to try new burger joints and this one's been on our list for a while so we finally pulled in today. The menu is pretty basic: burgers, hot dogs, and fries. They've got 2 different sizes of burgers: junior and regular. Apparently the differnce is that the junior is one patty and the regular is a double. You can get pretty much anything you want on it: bacon, cheese, and a whole host of condiments. You pay for the bacon and cheese but everything else is free. I like my meat well dead so I'm always concerned when I try walk up burger joints like this. I've had bad experiences before, but they have a sign up that says all burgers are cooked well done, and mine was. There was no pink, at least. I got mine with bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce. I honestly couldn't tase the BBQ at all and looking at the bun it looks like it just had a little dab on it, but other than that it was really good. The bacon was nice and crisp and the 2 pieces of chz really complemented the flavor. They have 2 sizes of french fries and I got the regular, which I'm glad I did. They gave you a paper cup full of fresh cut fries and throw an extra couple of handfuls in just for the hell of it. We ended up throwing some of them away because we were so full. You can taste the freshness of the fries with every bite and I have to say that the fries were about 10 times better than the burger, which was excellent in and of itself.
