Do not bring small kids that have to potty!!! We have been…read moremany times before and always used the restroom with our two small kids but apparently things have changed. We were shopping just as usual and my 9yr old had to go. So my wife per usual takes her to the back restroom to go. Nothing special or unusual. No signs prohibiting it, as a matter of fact the restroom still had "valued customer signs up". So she didn't think anything of it. Until an employee walked into the restroom. The employee begins to fuss at BOTH my daughter and wife for being back there stating that they're not allowed. My wife apologized and quickly said that they would leave as they were done anyway. But this wasn't enough. The employee (with black hair) continued to berate and scold my wife repeating again and again how they were not allowed back there. My wife continued to apologize and got out of there as fast as she could. She finds me in the store and tells me of their encounter with the rude employee and although I'm irritated I figured it's best to just drop it. Until we get to the register to check out... The rude employee is there telling another older lady (dirty blonde) apparently about my wife so now the blonde employee disregarding me, begins to berate and harass my wife again about how she can't go to the restroom with our child. My wife begins to apologize again explaining that there were no signs and that she'd been there multiple times before. But I can't take it because apparently these employees wanted blood. So I pipe up (calmly but firm, I do not yell) and told them that we had heard enough and we got the point and that they would not continue to harass and berate my wife. Unshaken, the employees try to turn it to me. But I told them from here on out they need to put up inhibiting signs and take down their "valued customer" signs in the bathroom. She continued to fuss but I could not hear what was said since we left. Apparently it was more derogatory remarks because my sister was next in line and heard this employee continue to degrade my character now for defending my wife. We will not be returning

While driving back to the hotel after being out and about doing all things touristy, I passed by…read morethis Big Lots. It dawned on me that I hadn't visited a Big Lots since I drove down to Columbus, OH back in 2018. Wow! I needed to break this streak. I managed to change lanes quickly during rush hour and made a sharp right turn into this Big Lots. It also has a Hobby Lobby nearby and a Zaxby's that I visited days later. There was plenty of parking. I parked fairly close to the main entrance and walked in. The store is huge. I didn't realize that Big Lots had bought Broyhill Furniture until I was immediately greeted by Broyhill sofas, sectionals, and more. I'm glad that the name lives on, as Broyhill has been in existence since the late 1920's. You do find a lot of cheap merchandise here. I missed this place so much. It was nice returning here. If you want cheap phone accessories, this place is perfect. You can find every USB cable and charging adapter out there. I found a Grogu portable speaker that dances to the music being played and also talks. I had to get it. The snacks and beverages were extensive. They are at the back of the store. There was an emphasis on keto items, including Quest protein powders and bars. The washrooms are also at the back of the store. The women's was clean and great. No complaints at all. This store also had over-the-counter medications, such as ibuprofen and antacids. I didn't need any, but it's good to know if I ever do. Candy and gum varieties are great. I got some Extra pineapple refreshers gum. It was so good that I chewed my way through every piece of gum and had to get another one later on during this trip. I signed up for Big Lots rewards. The woman at the cashout area was great. She explained how everything worked. You get discount coupons sent to you through e-mail. I got a 15% off everything one that I used a week later at another store. I paid for my items with a credit card. Easy peasy. I thanked the woman and left with my purchases. It's a decent Big Lots. She immediately said, "just so you know we close in 5 minutes." I only walked in to ask if they had one specific thing - had she taken one second to ask me what brought me in, she would have understood I had a question and would either be making a purchase or in my way. You can really tell the pieces aren't cheaply made. I especially love that they carry both indoor and outdoor rugs made from recycled plastics, which is such a thoughtful and sustainable touch. Their food section is so fun to explore! They have foods and drinks from all over the world -- ramen, authentic pasta from Italy, international snacks, sodas, alcohol, and so much more. It feels like traveling without leaving the store. I ended up buying part of the strawberry collection -- the mug, measuring spoons, and measuring cups -- and they are absolutely adorable! American Girl was packed but it was so apparent that Mattel runs the show and not Pleasant Company. They just didn't care about the customer experience at all & only the money coming in. As for the mall, there are some great post-Christmas sales to be had right now. There was a huge variety of stores from furniture to clothes to housewares.
