Worst place I have been in...ever. My wife and I will never go back. Worst owner. He was narcissistic, rude, condescending and cruel to customers who simply asked about prices. Vile human being. First. Super dirty feel. Did not feel like the "store" which is filled with junk has ever been swept. All the items are either overpriced, tourist crap (t-shirts, cutting boards, trucker hats.) the book and record selection was absolutely pathetic. Still we wanted to support this business. I didn't dare say anything because of what happened next. I witnessed the most ugly customer service ever in any business we have ever been in. First, another customer, an elderly man asked about book prices, and the owner basically told the man that he was cheap for asking. Then all hell broke loose when another customer bought some items that were clearly labeled as one price (I checked,) and the owner switched up the price on that customer to try to get more money. The owner lied to the customers face and then he got hostile. The customer said they didn't want the item, because the price was clearly marked, and it's the only reason he wanted the item. The owner reacted like he was being attacked...then he started screaming at the top of his lungs, basically calling the customer a liar. Then the owner started yelling profanities and vulgar language at the customer. Basically saying that he was going to "SA" the customer. It was CRAZY! Then, condescendingly, the owner told the customer to put the items back where they got them, and the customer refused. The customer told the owner that he didn't appreciate being called a liar, and the price was clearly marked. After the owner shouted "f- you." Four or five times, the customer, who was on his way out and said "f-you too, you're a liar." That enraged the owner to the extent that he started screaming and every other word was the f-word. Then it was a shouting match, because the customer had enough of the abuse and verbal assault for no reason. All over the owner either mistaking or forgetting the right price. The customer's friend was there and helped the customer walk out as the man was basically calling him a bigoted slur that shocked even people walking by outside. I ran into the couple at the bookstore down the block (Rhino Books,) where they were calming down. They pointed out that, over the years, they have bought over $100 on books, records and souvenirs from that place. At Rhino, the man spent over $500 on books, so they had money to spend that day--the customer was a really nice person who drove two hours to visit the VA in Nashville, and he chose to go to that store to support local businesses. The owner had been screaming at a decorated war veteran who was disabled! The customer was in the right this time. When I left "Cruel Stuff," I saw that the customer was right about the price. I usually only write positive things if I can. I have nothing to positive to say about Cool Stuff and Weird Things, I would call it "Cruel stuff and rude things." This owner was absolutely rude and what he did and said was completely uncalled for--the way that owner treated his customers...and then screaming I waited two days to say anything. I debated about posting this. That customer wanted to help this business out, only to be screamed at, and it was a good thing that customer had his family member with him because that rude owner was about to get violent. I don't care if they sell full-sized, brand new Corvettes for $20, me and my wife will never set foot in this store for as long as I live. Zero stars. Shame on this owner for verbally assaulting customers simply because his store is poorly organized and he doesn't even know his own prices. It's a damned thrift store, and he is so delusional that he thinks people don't barter in thrift stores. That's what is normal. read more

I had an extremely upsetting experience at this store. As I walked in, I found a piece I liked and politely asked the man behind the counter if he would be willing to take $2 off the total. Instead of simply declining, he responded with anger in his voice and said, "Do you really think it's acceptable to ask a small business for $2 off?" He then continued speaking to me in a nasty, condescending tone until I let him know I was no longer interested in purchasing from his store. As I headed toward the door, he screamed, "F** you and never f*cking come back to my store, you c,"* and threw the piece of antique across the room. Ok so I've been coming to this place every once in a while since I was probably 5 years old . Welp I do a lot of picking and flipping and right now I am flush with cool stuff and weird things so I figured I'd come down and look around the other day. The place was almost empty . There was like one cool thing and I guess there was some weird stuff but nothing special or remotely interesting . I mean I perused the entire inventory of the store twice in 5 minutes . So me being the good citizen I am and the problem solver I've become decided I would bring some stuff down to see if he wanted to buy some actual cool stuff people would like and buy. I had done business with the guy in the past and like I said I am flush with cool things and weird stuff. So fast forward to a week later . Today actually like just now ...I go in and mind you I brought a big ole box of goodies but left them in the car because I didn't want to bring anything in if he wasn't buying . So I decided to bring in a small box of costume jewelry earrings and rings which is one of the things he had told me in the past is his bread and butter . So he checks em out and buys em at a killer price . Cool deal. Well maybe . I then tell him about the big box of goodies I have in the car . He goes on to explain how he isn't really buying and that he's all stocked up for Xmas . I'm looking around thinking to myself " Jeez buddy this ain't stocked up this is going out of business man. I tried to ask him what his hottest items were and what's been selling well . As a fellow reseller I was making polite small talk while browsing because no one else was in there plus I sincerely was thinking wow this ain't good and was gonna hook the dude up with a box of totally rad eye catchers that were far cooler than anything he had in stock. I have almost nothing invested in my inventory so I could afford to pass on the deals to him and would really of been doing the guy a favor more than anything . So he wasn't very warm or friendly to begin with and idk what he is dealing with in his personal life but I was just talking and asking a couple questions trying to figure out why he has such a skinny inventory of not so cool stuff in this big ole store . I was being nice and it appeared he had absolutely nothing else going on . For whatever reason he quickly got super pissy and basically told me " Jeez guy could ya stop freaking talking to me man . Buy something or get out. Plus he kept saying he made all these deals often and didn't need people like me coming in his store thinking we could sell or trade with him . Well I guess he had one hell of a week and sold out of all the cool stuff cause there was nothing in there . Nothing . Not even good junk . I don't know how he sources his inventory but he kept on about how he pays little to nothing for these giant deals so if he was to buy anything it would have to be pennies on the dollar . I'm ok with that . What I'm not ok with is being dismissed as if I'm a pest when all I was doing was shopping in the mans store for one and then offering him a chance to check out some merch that was right up his alley and people would actually want . Yea I know what you're thinking ...bro you were being a pest and aggressively trying to sell this dude some crap. Not at all . Just tried telling him about my biz and some of my recent dealings as it all pertained to his line of work and was trying to be nice and make a little bit of idle chit chat since it was a ghost town . I almost wanna leave this box of goodies at the back door so his freaking store actually lives up to its name . I swear there was nothing there but bull crap . I've been going there for years and I guess it's just a bad year for the dude and maybe I should forgive his rudeness and poor hospitality. In the past he has been sa shrewd aka super cheap buyer but was never really rude and dismissive . I saw he badly needed some fresh more hip inventory a week ago and brought him a backseat full of what wouldve been by far his best items and was prepared to practically give him the stuff but man he chose to be a jerk and push me out the door . Maybe I shouldn't expect people to be nice to me . Maybe I shouldn't try to be nice to people . Anyway I gotta give the place 1 star for inventory. 1 star for customer service . 1 star for price point . 1 star for parking . If you're gonna have crappy stuff at a crappy location with crappy parking and crappy high prices you might wanna hire somebody that engages with customers and doesn't mind chatting or helping the clients and or potential suppliers . I haven't left a bad review in years but man this experience was a real bummer and it's sad to see this once cool spot in such sad shape . I hope things turn around for him and the store but I guarantee you I will never ever be back . I visited Nashville last month and stopped in at Cool Stuff Weird Things on my first day. Because of this, and despite how much "cool stuff" they had, I was trying not to buy too much before seeing what other shops would have to offer (I didn't have a ton of extra suitcase room). However, the guy working was so nice and helpful I couldn't resist but to buy a few things. A friend of mine bought a poster and while we were loitering outside of the store afterwards, the man working came out to tell us he just got in the same print in a metal format which was better for us because we were traveling. This store is awesome. Like any thrift store, you've got to do some digging to get to the good stuff, but I have consistently found awesome items here. Including: - 2 outdoor tables for my patio for $20 bucks and in great shape - Artsy prints of old school alcohol ads that go quite nicely in my place - A wooden drink cart that is the home to many adult beverages They also have an entire floor upstairs with clothes, shoes, and accessories. Today, Noel, Tony and I decided to go Urban Hiking in Nashville...so we went to West Nashville to some small shops located on Charlotte Av...and I am so glad that we did. We parked on the street and started "SHOP HOPPING" and we hoped into this store and "WOW"...I am so glad we did...this shop is amazing!!! There was an Elvis statue to greet us outside on the sidewalk. Inside there was some great rustic cabinets with glass pane doors for $250 in white and black....mental note saved!! There was these metal letters everywhere and they make them and turn them into signs to hang W H E R E V E R ...you want!!! They were really awesome!! If I had a place to display I would... The store was narrow but deep!!!!! They have some really great pieces. Used books, cds and albums and even some old 45 records..There was some really nice pieces for the avid collector. I will definitely go here again! I might buy one of those signs for something special...who knows!!! read more

Dropped by CSWT today while I was in the neighborhood. It had been a couple months since I was last here, so I thought I'd check it out and see what it had to offer. Turns out that the upstairs area is now open and it is full of vintage clothing and costumes! The sign out front had advertised Halloween costumes, and even though I already had mine, I got a lot of cool ideas just walking through the racks of clothes. The main floor is still home to great vintage albums and music, along with a crazy collection of stuff. Not really a good way to explain all that is here... Just one of those things you have to go check out for yourself. While they take cards, bring cash for the best deals. Enjoy! read more

This place is mostly an expensive tourist trap. With stuff that I really did not find all that interesting. Bought nothing.

Brought my friend from out of town to check the place out. They do have some cool pieces, but honestly the place was a little lacking. Pluses were lots of cool metal work, light-up signs, and some bigger things like trunks and old windows at a good price. Their little knick knacks, however, left something to be desired. I know it's just trinkets, but you want it to at least look cool or have a purpose. Most of those things fit neither category. My personal favorite was a poster from 2012 (!), glued crookedly onto construction paper, and put in a frame. I guess this place doesn't necessarily claim to be an antique store, but it did leave me puzzled. The upstairs had clothing, but when I was there all the lights were off. Furthermore, there weren't real windows. All the windows has been removed and there were old windows and doors leaning on the wall to somewhat cover them up. I swear I'm not high maintenance, but I feel like the merchandise should be lit (to sell it) and there should be real wall coverings on the second floor...? Surely that cannot be up to code. Three stars because I did end up buying something, but I wouldn't have my feelings hurt if I didn't visit again. read more

I was looking for unique furniture when I decided to stop in CSWT on my way home from Goodwill. It looks promising from the outside because of the Elvis statues but the inside didn't do much for me. I LOVE this store ! It is five thousand square feet of awesomeness! I bought a short church pew and an island for my kitchen. Two amazing pieces for a great price. The owner was chatty and friendly. The lower floor is filled with furniture and knick knacks and just STUFF! The upper floor is filled with clothing and shoes. The clothing is priced soooo very cheap! My husband and I popped into CSWT a couple of weeks ago. Again we found some real treasures. Hubby - Banana republic suede coat ( mint) $35. Me - vintage Lancome cosmetic travel case $15. vintage sweater 20. This store is like being on a treasure hunt. Items are in random places but it's fun. ( I found the travel case behind some chairs ) We got to the register and because the owner recognized us from being in there ONCE months ago, he knocked off $15.00 from our total. The owner ( is it Jim? ) is friendly, chatty and clearly loves what he does. Check it out. Really Cool Stuff Weird Things thrift shop, for sure! Kinda like a modern little version of London's Olde Curiosity Shop. A skippy character former performer naturally called Skip owns the place and is fun to bargain with. As in most independent thrifts I've shopped, a bit of bargaining is fine. Skip's place is a conglomeration of odd merchandise that somehow seems to end up in this place across from Richland Park. Sometimes some furniture and neat clothing transits thru. Strange and standard art things, home decor thats different and whatnots a step above most are waiting for a new home. Won't you adopt a piece of this quality junque & give it some love? read more

If the owner is not there it's a fun little shop (way over priced) and lacking anything original but if you're from out of town great to take pictures. If the owner is there just don't speak to him and if you do be prepared to be talked down to and insulted. He's just one of those guys that is mean and unhappy and he wants to spread the unhappiness. It might be just that he's sexist now that I think about it, because I've only had other women tell me he was a jerk to them as well. I'm actually surprised at the high rating of this business. I was sorely disappointed at the selection of 'cool stuff' and 'weird things' The things that I considered "cool" had an extremely hefty price tag. Not too sure who the target audience is here. It certainly seems to be aimed toward people with cash burning a hole in their pocket... However, I'm glad it's around, Charlotte pike could use a little more quirk in my Chicago native opinion. For now I think I'll head up the street and hit up some of the thrift stores to get a better deal on cool stuff and weird things. read more

I visited this store because I was out that way and it seemed interesting. It seemed like a cool place from the outside. Inside, I didn't really see anything that caught my eye. A few things I saw were a bit overpriced. The small Buddhas cost more than the same ones I saw at the mall. Not my kind of store but it wasn't bad. read more
