For what it is, a discount store with cheap goods primarily made in China, this store is just fine…read more I have been going here fairly regularly for the past few years and I have *never* had any trouble finding items and can't help but wonder if maybe the reviewer "Deborah" is mentally challenged ? Also, the staff has always been courteous AND available. This may come as newsflash to Deb but employees do more than just stand idly at their register waiting for customers to approach. They are busy *elsewhere* in the store, stocking merchandise, etc., as per their job description. The store is not overly big that a simple "hello" will not bring their attention to the register when you are ready to check out, there is also a bell there that you can ring that will alert them, maybe ol' genius Deb couldn't figure this out. In all the times I have shopped here I have not once overheard the staff speaking badly about their jobs, maybe it was the negative energy Deb was giving off that caused her to interpret it this way... or maybe it was HER cranky self they were referring to ? And what a ratty thing to do, to come on yelp and say that and then condescendingly preach that they should be glad to even have a job. Well, that was written over 2 years ago, so hopefully by now Deb has taken a long walk and aired out that sack of farts she was self-righteously carrying around. Anyhow, I give this Family Dollar a 5 star rating, for the kind of store it is, it delivers. Thank you.

I found the prices were fair and the convenience incredible. It actually made my life easier as a teacher. This year our school was hosting a family event and my colleague and I needed to pick up a few things for our event. We both pulled in at the same time 7:45pm when someone ran to the front door and hung up a sign that said CLOSED. I parked and got out of my car and walked to the front doors the store hours clearly stated open until 9:00pm. I knocked on the front and side door and no one answered. At 7:55pm two men exited the building and stated that one of them had to go to another job and could only work until 8:00pm. The next day I called the manager and was told that he is away on deployment and the assistant manager was rude and said that having the wrong hours on her store job was the least of her worries and asked if I would like a job. I will never shop in the Tannersville, NY Dollar General ever again. It was made extremely clear that my business was not needed, I now see why so many were against this chain building in our town.
