Terrible customer service and an inexperienced tailor. He was extremely defensive, arrogant and would not listen. The manufacturer's directions stated that the dress should be taken in from the side seams, but he refused saying it was too complex. He whined about the pleats, the beadwork and the layers. It all was so complicated. Is that something an experienced tailor would say? If you have a formal gown, go to a professional. This guy doesn't know what he is doing. He had 3 weeks to alter the dress but refused to have me come in for a second fitting when I asked. He was so sure that the darts he insisted would be enough to take in the sides. He said he would call me if he completed the dress earlier. He never called. When I came to try on the dress it was a disaster. The back straps hung loosely, the sides needed to be taken in another inch and a half, the back zipper bunched up and protruded out, and he insisted it was a "perfect fit". How insulting! He took out an iron and began ironing the back zipper as if that would fix his botched job.
He did not offer to fix the dress but said he was closing the shop within the next hour to leave on his summer vacation. He offered $10 off to "satisfy" my dissatisfaction with his work. He charged me $100 for the disastrous darts, taking in the straps and hemming the dress, but the dress still did not fit. It needed additional work. Since he waited until the last minute and never communicated that he was struggling with the dress, there was no opportunity to take the dress to another tailor. I called multiple tailors but with a few days before the wedding no one would take the job.
I came to The Fitting Place so that the bridesmaid dress would fit. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the most unfitting place! read more
