I am going to make it my business to start coming out here more. I have been on a Class Pass kick lately and decided to sign up for the restorative Pilates session. The class was at 7pm which gave me plenty of time to get through traffic and park. On a Thursday evening there was plenty of parking too thankfully. There were a few folks in class and the session was very intimate! Hisako was super welcoming and attentive to my needs as a distance runner and fitness instructor. She gave me a lot of options to work on certain parts of my body that needed TLC! The 45 minute time frame for this class was perfect also! In addition the soothing yoga-ish music was a nice touch for this gentle practice. I LOVE THE PILATES REFORMER and legit feel like this is what I have been missing my whole life. Now that I have the ropes on this piece of equipment I will be utilizing it at my current gym more often! It was nice to stop in and try something not only new to me but beneficial to me as an athlete. I will absolutely be dropping back in on this class when I'm in the area again!

I've tried several places with different styles and Edge is what I've been looking for. It's located in the Bishop Arts District, which is a great community in itself. Depending on when you take a class you can either grab a mornings coffee after, lunch or dinner. The place itself is cold and decorated nicely. Vibrant pops of color give you more energy. I'm a restroom snob and this place has my favorite restroom design! Clean, nicely decorated and fully stocked. It's be nice if they put in some accessories like hair scrunchies and lady products. The trainers are knowledgeable and energetic. I can't recall other names but Amanda kicks my ass every time. I've tried the restorative Pilates late class which is nice because it's basically yoga On a reformer. Expect a slow pace class to stretch and destreza. Personally, I need to move faster so the other classes are more challenging for me. The Arms, Abs and Ass class is my favorite! I feel it two days later. One thing I would like to see incorporated more is additional more challenging options for those who are more advanced. They offer a 2 week unlimited special for new clients. Glad they do because that's about how long it'll take you to decide if it's for you. Great place, give it a try!

There are clothes, snacks and socks (you need them), water available to purchase and most importantly TOWELS. The ladies that teach are dancers and they know their stuff. Kristi knows her stuff, and gives the most detailed instructions of all the instructors. Huge focus on form! The workout consists of a warm up, stretching, thigh, seat work, abs, cool down, and more stretching. You will shake, you will work, you will tone up, you will be encouraged. You don't have to be a dancer to attend Smart Barre (hello? Have you seen my dance moves?). I am by no means a dancer (In public!) and never felt intimidated or embarrassed. Except the days I'm so tired I can't remember left from right... yes, it's happened. I have been to several studios in the area. If the word BARRE is in the name, I've been there sweating my A$$ off. Smart Barre has THE most pleasant staff. They show you the moves and actually do them with you, not just walk around the room talking. It's ALL barre all the time, not a studio with a few classes a day. This is a legit workout. There are days I think Sara is trying to kill me. Sally will whip you into shape.
