I walked in and all I see is treadmills (bad news for a weightlifter) I find the "weight room" and walk over to the dumbbells and the heaviest one they have is 75lb! I don't understand how such a large gym franchise can't put in one more weight rack with heavier weights! They only have 2 squat racks and one smith machine, their equipment is obviously used and recycled from another gym (although it's not that big of an issue as you pay less than $20 a month) but I just don't get how they have about 60 cardio machines, massaging chairs, a treadmill movie theater but still Only have the heaviest dumbbell at 75lb

The workout program is designed to fit my needs/weaknesses. He strikes a good balance between pushing you a level above where you'd go without injuring/killing you.. He works the room well and gives custom coaching to each person and is really good at balancing attention across multiple people in a group class in an effective and motivating way. He's knowledgeable about all the basics of diet and exercise and has a real passion to teach and share his knowledge. I myself have gotten a good deal stronger and more fit since doing 2 classes a week with Ian and a lot of the exercises he teaches I now build into my individualize workouts and that's been really good value too. Avoid OrangeTheory Ridgefield…read more I have been a member of OrangeTheory studios in multiple cities and have never experienced anything like this. I arrived approximately one minute late to a class for which I was registered and was refused entry. While I stood there, another woman arrived after me, greeted the owner with a hug, and was immediately invited into the exact same class. I watched her sit down and put on her running shoes while I remained at the front desk asking why she was allowed in and I wasn't. Rules are rules. Rules that apply differently depending on who you are friends with are not. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I had previously sat down with the owner and explained that I am postpartum with a young baby. Fitness is incredibly important to my physical and mental well-being, and coordinating childcare, naps, feeding schedules, and the general unpredictability of life with an infant is not always easy. I explained that despite my best efforts, there may occasionally be a time when I arrive a minute or two late. The response then was a complete lack of empathy. The response on this day was even worse. Being denied entry while watching someone else receive an exception in real time was humiliating. It communicated very clearly that some members are extended grace while others are not. It made me feel as though my time was less valuable, my circumstances less deserving of understanding, and my membership less important. OrangeTheory is not an inexpensive workout. Members are paying for coaching, community, professionalism, and consistency. Instead, I felt embarrassed, singled out, and frankly punished. The Danbury locations have always been welcoming, professional, and kind. The studios I attended in Los Angeles were the same. In all my years with OrangeTheory, I have never witnessed such blatant favoritism. A fitness studio should leave you feeling stronger than when you walked in. This one managed to do the opposite.
