I recently visited Fitness Connection as a guest and I was treated in such a disrespectful manner by the front desk worker named Nate. He had a horrible attitude and spoke to us very aggressively for just asking simple questions which is unacceptable in the customer service world. I used to be a member at this exact gym and due to the way he spoke to me and my mother and sister, I will absolutely not be be bringing my business back to this gym due to the type of employees they choose to keep at this gym. I've actually been to this gym and I find the machines always broken in terms of the gluten max machine, as well as the padding on the incline leg press way in the back they've actually taken out and did some constructions in terms of making the exercise space in the back of this gym the Fitness Connection more bigger I find that the general club manager is rude. He has no people skills at all in terms of he should learn to listen to the members and put his shoes, not only the members safety as well as a staff safety. He's rude and he needs to go back to school and learn and retrain on how to approach a situation by putting themselves in the Payne member shoes as well as making the gym safe and fixing it up. The machine machines look like the padding has been there since ever since the gym actually has open some of these people actually don't get off the machine. Nothing has been done about people sitting on equipment addicted to their phones while "us" that really want to work out and get the hell out are still being put off. Also, saving equipment while you're doing a different machine and getting pissed when I call you out on it...really!!!!!????, you can only do one machine at a time and yet the staff is still so complacent. Lastly, so many personal trainers that are using the gym and taking jobs away from the staff. Personally, upon my observation they run their mouths way more than actually training their "clients", bumpin fist does not make you a trainer in anyway!!! WAKE UP FITNESS CONNECTION!!!!! Based on several years being a member I would rate this gym a 2 star gym. 24 hours fitness bests them by far. I was also charged over $200 with the $50 maintenance fee without any warning for supposed late payments they charged every month. No communication when it first happened they waited months and decided to charge late fees. What???? I sent all the proof from the bank but the email given to me wasn't correct, I gave up. Excellent! Very clean restrooms. Have been a member since this location opened. I like management. They are doing a good job of greeting and holding the Covid-19 clean standards. I have always cleaned the machines before and after use so it is great that all guests are now required to also. I have always seen the cleaning staff keep the gym spotless but seeing the cleaning staff stay even more vigilant makes me feel safe. The only negative I can add is the corporate change to automatic payments was very challenging and cost me fees. Our manager's help was excellent and he apologized for the call center fiascos and explained how the current change would be handled by him. I changed gyms from LA Fitness off 1-10 & Katy Fwy to Fitness Connection. Their bathrooms are WAYYYYYYYYY cleaner and nicer. I'm so happy I made the choice and I'm saving money in the end! I had had my previous membership for 5 years and just couldn't do it anymore. Their equipment is better and I love the outside turf area. Kids Club area is 100% better too. My daughter used to say she couldn't breathe at LA bc the big window with the sun glaring in and little air circulation. The only thing that could be better is their sauna. I have been here almost a year at this gym and they really don't do maintenance on the equipment the treadmill are most of them are old ,dirty and sweaty they run out f paper towel to clean the equipment and when I ask for it they said check around to find some it is ridiculous. Even though membership is cheap is not worth it because you have to deal with many issues people don have respect for other I'm verily using a machine and they standing there and ask you when you going to finish I really feel bother . Too many members. Very crowded. Joined but decided to withdraw after I couldn't get a consistent workout there. Weights all over the place. That always adds time to your work out. Great place to workout! Cardio equipment stacked and they have free weights area along with every weight machine needed. They also offer outside area with rowers, ropes, racks etc. They have dry saunas and full bathroom for those that need to shower and go to work. They have cardio, spinning classes. In the two years that I've been a member here I've seen the place become a little run down and the front desk staff is not friendly at all. They're usually involved in a conversation with each other instead of greeting members as they walk in. There is a female Zumba instructor with ZERO rhythm. And a trainer approached me while I was on the treadmill and despite my obvious annoyance he continued asking questions and even complimented my bag as if that made it better. Signed up with the club manager and he was cool. Got another membership for my son from an employee named DJ and he was cool too. Front desk staff can be weird/moody but I don't go to socialize so it's no biggie really but coming from a service background I don't appreciate it. Either say good morning and goodbye or don't, but be consistent. Free weights are usually scattered around or misplaced and they aren't really enforcing the social distancing recommendation of 6 feet. I've been going to this gym for years So I went a couple of times during COVID and I honestly don't feel safe working out here. The two times I went I observed people leaving the machines sweaty and walking off. No wipe down. There were squabbles between the customers because people were calling others out for not sanitizing. I thought one was going to come to blows. Not once did an employee see any of this going down. They aren't walking around making sure people are being on point. Where were they? Let's see a couple were behind the front desk heehawing and one was in the doorway dancing. After that I said forget it. I can't trust these folks. I signed up for this gym over 3 months ago. The sauna has not worked since. For weeks they had the same excuse, "we are waiting on a new unit to be installed". After a new unit was FINALLY installed, it lasted maybe a full week and stopped working again. My guess is they never actually replaced it.. pretty sad that it's literally taken MONTHS to fix.. I have been a member with FC for a little over a year, and have finally gotten back into dancing. I called to cancel my membership and find a gym that had studio access. When I spoke with a manager, Chris Zimmerman, I was told if I paid 99$ ( which was 106$ after taxes I guess) and upgrade to all access I would be granted to use the studio after 9pm (When classes end) and for my youtube channel dance videos and still be at $10.00 a month. I happily agreed and had Chris post date to charge me on the following tuesday and told me it was in the contract and I'd receive a copy too. I tried the day after to come and use the studio, and I was told that chris wasn't there and there was no manager in to unlock the studio for me. I asked if there was anyway for them to get in contact with him so he could give the okay and they told me he didn't have a number for him. 7/1/2019, I realized my account had been charged 21.66 and not the $10.00 a month as promised. I called and spoke with Danielle Brown who stated she was a manager now and could help me. I shared with her what Chris and I had discussed and she seemed puzzled and said she was going to check my account. She checked and said I had been charged twice, and that she would refund the money. I said no worries, thank god I had the money available, and that I was going to come to the gym tonight to work in the studio. She then said she was going to have me speak with another manager, but did not share the name. I couldn't tell whether it was a male or female, but had said "Chris lied and due to policy I would not be allowed to use the studio." Then I was told b/c I missed a "3 day window" to cancel and receive a refund, I would not be allowed a refund for the 21.66 nor the 106 I was charged. They then offered me the corporate number and said to talk to them, then when I asked WHO I was speaking TO so when I speak to corporate I could share exact persons, and he/she had lied and said Danielle Brown. I told him/her I was just speaking to Danielle. She/he then laughed and constantly kept talking to whoever was next to them, and I had remained calm during the entire call, until this moment. Irritated, I said No what is YOUR name. And they say "Well ma'am remember, I'm not Chris Zimmerman" , while laughing. Now I am starting to get really upset. I say once more, what is your first and last name, and they daybreaks kenyard, and im like well what is your last name, they then say Kenyard, and laugh again. And then say I cannot disclose that to you, and I ask Well didn't you just lie and tell me you were Danielle Brown? and Give away Zimmerman's last name? & then they say well I thought you asked to talk to her, and I said that doesn't make sense. I gave up and said I'd just speak with corporate and figure this out and honestly, the "new staff" here are kids. So, Be careful! Because fitness connection will lie and make promises just to keep charging you and make their sale. I guess this place won't last too long with such lax standards. Overall too busy of a gym. Too much "bro-science" being thrown around between members. There is a mild concept of having equipment that are similar muscle group located together. But then you look down the row and see a mother set of equipment that's "better". Equipment is okay. Second tier facility at best. The staff seem miserable. As I walked around everyone in a fitness connection shirt looked as if they were ready to start looking for another job. This place is a joke. Ive been working out since 1980 and at one time or another have been a member of every gym company (ie. Balleys, 24hr etc) that Houston has. This place is beyond a doubt the worst I have ever experienced. The only thing it has going for is the $10 monthly. The roof constantly leaks when it rains. Last Saturday the was a 10ft diameter pool of water on the floor in front of the womens locker room. Rules are not enforced. -No video for example. There is a guy with a gopro on a tripod videoing. -Constantly tripping over or dodging gym bags. This morning between 5-7am there was a couple making out hot and heavy on one of the machines. -Some machines not fully functional that I mentioned to the now former Operations Manager. Nothing has been done and its been 4 monthes now. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Fitness Connection. They seem to care only about getting your membership dues. Truly unproffessional. I have been a member for more than 3 years. I had also bought a membership for my dad. I had to cancel my dads membership because he had not used it in two years. They told me I would be charged one more month of service for him after I canceled the membership. That was fine but they charged me for the annual fee for his membership. I called to speak with the manager and was told I could not speak with him without an appointment . I explained what I was calling for and was given a customer service number to call. So I called my credit card and refuse payment for that fee. I told the girl on the phone that I would give them a low grade for not letting me speak with a manger and making me do the extra work to get my money back. Very poor customer service. My wife and son have canceled their membership because we kept getting late fees on the account they said they could not bill the card. I have all three of my accounts on that card. We canceled their accounts they said they did not get the payment for the last account. Well, it was all on the same card again and they received the payment for my son's account but not my wife that we made at the same time? I am a real estate agent I all over social media and I will not spend the same amount of time and money telling people to know my experience. Please do not become a member of Fitness Connection. Like many other people (over 140) on the BBB (better business bureau) and many more have had problems canceling their membership. This company purposely makes it difficult to cancel and when you complain they come on line and try to get their act together by apologizing and saying that they have not received your documentation for canceling and to do it again with an attitude at that. Just look at everyone who attempts to cancel, it is not worth it and no they will not change their practice when you try to cancel. When i called in for info i was told theres no warning and theres nothing they can do and they NEVER refund fees so I could leave a message for a manager but they will say the same thing. Don't join here unless you are going to be a lifelong member. I have NEVER paid a bill late or gone to collections and this fitness connection sent me to collections. My husband and I had a joint membership here, I went in person to cancel and the person at the front told me it could only be done online. I went online and cancelled my husband and I's joint membership by putting in BOTH card numbers in the cancellation form. They cancelled my membership but continued to charge my husbands even though it was cancelled. Called the number on the website for billing and they assured me it was cancelled but that they were still going to charge me for 2 more months because they had to process the request. Surely the payments stopped in August of 2018 so I thought it was handled. No. My husbands account was sent to collections. $97 past due for December. How? If my last payment was in August 2018??? This was also done to 2 other people I know directly. It's not hard to fill a cancellation form out, seems like fitness connection could be selling "past due accounts" to collections. Hard accusation, but that's the only conclusion I could come to as to why me and other 2 friends had this happen to as well. And apparently others on this feed. read more

They are the worst and they should be shut down. You can walk in and get a membership but you have to send a certified letter to cancel. Then I was told it's a 30 day notice for the next billing and it takes them up to 3 weeks to get the cancellation in the system. There's an annual fee but they send you nothing in the mail just take your money without your signature on the renewal. But let your payment come back then they call you.
