I've been going to the one in Katy for few years and my biggest issue is the reracking of weights or lack of weights. What is so hard about having a 50 lb straight and curl bar. They haven't had one for years. When you ask they still don't get it. They just added a whole bunch of new equipment and no 50lb bars. Why when I show up on. a Friday night there's only one set of 10lb dumbbells? Where's the rest? There's nobody in the gym and yet only one set on 10's. Stop allowing people to take equipment to different areas especially if they're not going to rerack.Orherwise the gym is fine, you get what you pay for and the sauna is a nice compliment to have without having to pay extra. read more

Boy. I just signed up yesterday and I'll be putting in my cancellation as soon as I get off. I've been HOUNDED by aggressive salesmen even after I've signed up. I'm getting three calls a day for a "free" training service that I told them I didn't want to their face when I enrolled. Today I answered and some guy claiming to be the manager calls trying to sell me the same service and hung up on me when I said I've repeatedly said no.....word to the wise. Do not sign up for this gym unless you really like paying for fees that come with them having incompetent staff and policies that are designed to bleed money out of you if you ever decide to cancel your membership. I recently closed a bank account and gave the representative at the front desk my new banking info so that the dues for me and my son could be drawn from the new account. I was assured that it was taken care of when I left. I got a letter in the mail stating that I had two charges from Fitness Connection that they honored and that I would be charged an overdraft fee. When I called customer service and made them aware of their error I was told that I should seek compensation from the bank because they couldn't do anything about rectifying the situation. They couldn't even give me the overdraft fees towards my dues which seemed reasonable to me. When they wouldn't work with me I decided to cancel mine and my son's membership on the spot. I was told that I would have to pay the last month's dues for both of us and I was still on the hook for my yearly membership fee. DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO THIS SCAM! read more

Signed up for membership with the intent of going mid day, was told that I needed to go through an orientation and told that the only available time was at 7 in the morning, so I made the appointment, showed up the morning of the appointment, when I finally got the attention of the front desk employee (he was sitting on the counter flirting) he texted the trainer, had to wait for the front desk to find her, when she arrived the first words out of her mouth were "didn't so and so call you?" I said good morning and then responded no, she proceeded to tell me that she had asked someone to call me and schedule an appointment for the evening since that is what she assumed I wanted, and that she already had two clients she was working with and didn't have time for me even though I had made an appointment. I turned to the front desk attendant and cancelled my membership and the trainer could have cared less and walked away. This gym is good or isn't bad...I guess it depends on what you're looking for. PROs: Big gym, lots of treadmills and cardio equipment, a lot of machines, and has a small turf area. CONs (This is where it lacks in comparison to Golds Gym that I'm accustom to) - The equipment is so/so...some are good and some pointless, the dumbbell selection in the 15-30lb range is terrible...good luck getting these weights without waiting forever, the same can be said for preloaded bars...there's like no selection...and the same can be said for 25lb plates as it seems like people are always looking for them, the crowd/vibe is alright at best and it tends to be a lot of younger kids, which isn't bad but it's just not the vibe I'm used too...oh and others that don't know decent gym etiquette...and there isn't much space to do stuff in the free weight area as people are basically on top of each other. You can get a decent work out in, but maybe the smaller chain gyms are better in this area. read more

Look, I'm going to say what nobody likes to say. But without being morbidly racist, the Hispanic crowd are the WORST gym hogs. Again, I am not meaning this in a racist or hateful way, THIS IS FACT THAT HAS BEEN OBSERVED OVER THE COURSE OF TIME. I have been going to this gym for a year or so now and it's always been an issue, and today was no different. I came to do some deadlifts and shoulders, and I arrive at 8:00am. One of the two racks is taken by a group of 4-5 Hispanic ladies who were there for the entire 1.5hrs I was here just talking and maybe one of them does a set every 5 minutes or so. The rack next to them was taken by a Hispanic brother who spent most of his time across the gym doing other stuff while his bag was sitting on the rack. I walked up to his rack because I hadn't seen him after 5 or so minutes, maybe he just forgot his bag? No, he ran over and jumped on me for taking his rack, and proceeded to not use it for another 15 minutes. No problem, I told him I was next in line. After I did all my shoulder workouts I came over and waited in the area, when he finally finished up he waited until my back was turned and gave it to the ladies on the next rack over previously mentioned. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME! Every man who is worth his salt is my brother, but I am the minority here in Humble, and they love to shove that in your face. Gym is nice, but if you get here any time after 8:00 AM don't expect to see any weights where they should be. I'm thinking about moving to a different gym. It's sad, but people are jerks no matter how cordial you are. read more

I got to the gym around 9:33 for a quick sauna session and the doors were locked already and when the short Mexican male with the curly hair came to the door he had an attitude and said "you know we about to close right" and I said " yeah I come here everyday but, that doesn't give you guys the right to lock the door early." He then asked why I had an attitude and I explained that he was basically making it seem like it was too late for me to be coming in. I then told him I Pay my membership here I can come anytime before close he then told me I needed to leave. I was walking to the sauna and said I wasn't leaving just because he was having a power trip. 20 minutes into the sauna a lady cop comes and I get out the sauna to talk to her and she's like let's go and as I try to grab my back pack she throws me against the wall and tries to hand cuff me and threatens to shoot me with the taser. Mind you I'm handicapped from chronic sciatica. So she hand cuffs me and is throwing me around while we walk out the gym. People were recording all of this in the men's locker room. Turns out the kid at the front lied to the cops and told the cops I threatened to shoot the gym. With all the mass shooting going on no one should be able to get away with lying like that to get someone kicked out. He told me he was going to say something to get me kicked out but I didn't know he was going to lie like that. Unbelievable I could've been shot and killed by police for a lie like that he should be arrested! it is illegal to make false accusations against another party in Texas and I will be filing a defamation lawsuit against the responsible party. read more

The gym is nice i won't lie everything seems to be well taken care of , the dumbbells are thrown literally everywhere to the point you have to find things ... groups of high school kids hogging 3 sets of dumbbells at a time . One of the worst gyms I've ever been to would be an understatement, since this is possibly the worst gym in all of Houston. Recently canceled my subscription upon moving to Austin for work, but honestly I probably would have canceled it anyway. The company (or perhaps just this location) has awful practices when it comes to billing customers, not to mention dubious overall quality for the price of membership. I've been a member of other gyms (Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, and am currently a member of Orange Theory), but my only negative experiences have been here at Fitness Connection. While Fitness Connection's problems are not limited to just one, by far their most egregious issue is their lack of flexibility when it comes to working with customers in rescheduling a monthly payment (anyone who has ever been in a financial bind of any kind knows what I'm talking about). Not only do they not allow customers flexibility with their payment--as a one time curtesy, of course--they also charge people's banks on a daily basis, ensuring daily overdraft fees for those experiencing said financial binds...even after lying to the customer's face and saying that their account won't be charged again until 'x' date. If Fitness Connection's goal is to drive away previously loyal customers, then I have to say they're succeeding spectacularly. read more

Humble Location: I would like to make a seggestion, the Boot camp area in the rear of the facility should be turned into a seniors area for 55 Years and older with more cardio machines. This will allow us to work out at our pace. The Dry sauna should have 5 marked areas to sit so that we may have access. I have got to take the time and not renew any membership. The parking lot is fetid with poopy diapers, value meals menu bags, water bottles and other debris. Save your time asking for someone to show you the machine that help stays out to lunch, dinner, on break or with another customer. gym assistant staff is never visible or available. What's worse is they haven't anything for handicapped. hard benches that you have to be lowered on by crane. They advertise $10 @ month but I am charged $28. read more

Not only am I member of this gym I have multiple gyms around Houston and I can honestly say I've been to every location and this is the absolute worst! I was literally two days behind on my payment because I'm switching banks and I was not allowed to work out which I buy enough product from the gym to pay for everyone behind the desk memberships! I started off not wanting a membership but was rushed into one because my mom's buddy pass didn't "apply" to me as a guest because I had already been there before. So whatever, I signed up for one in my ignorance just to work out with my mom that day. The rep who signed me even got upset with me because I didn't want to admit I had a weight problem. He asked what do you want to change about yourself and I told him nothing. I just wanted to work out with my mom. I never went again. I signed up in January, cancelled in March. I knew they would still charge me April because of the 30 day whatever fee. Okay, it was fine. COVID hit and I noticed they were still charging me- I know this sounds ridiculous but I have now tried to cancel my account through the phone for 4 months now. Every time I called was within business hours. Every time I called they extended their wait time. I work from 7-6 so I had a hard time trying to do this on top of my regular work day. I know it's ridiculous. When I finally got answered after waiting 56 mins today, 08/04/2020. The call was so short. I tired to ask for a refund and the customer rep said yes but what it really sounded like was "I'll tell you whatever to get you off the phone" I doubt I'll get my money back from all these 6 month charges. Watch out for the subject to change policy. One of the most dishonest tricks they use. You'll sign up and they will tell you they're no cancelation fees. When you try to just downgrade, they surprise it with you. In the end they will find a way to screw you. Corporate should be ashamed of their lack of transparency. Just trying to downgrade to 10 bucks a month not 20 a month . I did call the number below...it was a too bad sorry can't do anything about it. Gotta pay the 100 downgrade fee. Got kicked out of Fitness Connection today for helping someone during OUR workout. WTF!? I was told that it's against their policy for me to train/personally assist my workout partner. I wasn't training them as a professional but as a friend helping a friend who had little experience in the gym and also harbors anxiety about being in the gym. That's the most important part to me. My friend was uncomfortable to be there alone and I chose to aid them. Could someone explain how this is a rule? What if I brought my wife in an attempt to get her to join? What if someone is about to injure themselves. The worst part is, I was going to sign up directly after the workout because I was enjoying myself up until I was told to leave during my workout. Humble's gym has always been overcrowded with little high school kids taking up weights and machines while just standing there and talking. There should be a policy to remove people who use the gym as a hang out spot instead of actually working out. A buddy of mine got his car broke into in the parking lot of Fitness Connection while he was working out. When law enforcement showed up they wanted to review the video from the cameras outside Fitness connection's building. The staff could not allow law enforcement to view the video and when corporate was called, they denied the officer's request. This is not how you should do business in a community. If there is a way you can get scum off the street you should do everything within your power to do so. I'm so not happy right now. I canceled my membership because -I'm disgusted by the conditions in the restroom. Used toilet paper and feminine products not disposed of. -there are never matching sets of low weight dumbbells in the women's area. I see weights and plates all over the gym. Employees too busying in their phone, hitting on members or playing on the internet to care enough to enforce their rules, or to help keep the gym orderly. - I should not have to change my schedule to avoid 1 person who has had multiple complaints about their behavior in the sauna. Her behavior has gotten so out of control that she is endangering herself and the safety of other members by sitting on the heating element or the PROTECTIVE barrier that is there to keep the idiots from burning themselves. I'm not overly excited about the possibility of being kicked while she wildly kicks her legs in the air doing hand stands, and blocking the only way in and out of the claustrophobic hot box with her interpretive dancing. -------------- I joined with a partner gym. Part of the same parent company. To add insult to their poor customer service. I have to pay the same company 2 annual fees. The neglect of cleanliness and forcing members to adhere to policies and having employees helping keep the gyms orderly is a common issue among all fitness Connection locations I've been to in the Houston area. I haven't been to the Greenspoint location, and I'm not interested in being mugged or shot so that one is a hard pass. read more

I call them up to cancel my membership and I am told you have submit a Cancellation request online. I go online to do this only to find out I have to pay an additional $35 to cancel, I call B.S. on this, what a racquet. Like it is so f****ing hard for them to cancel my subscription. Personally it's my favorite gym in the Humble, Atascocita, New Caney, and/or Kingwood area. Gym has everything I need to use for a great workout including free weights, machines, cardio equipment, and even a turf area! Another perk is that the membership comes with free kids club so that definitely helps out the pocketbook. read more

People at this gym can't use the lockers but the gym is open expect that you have to Where gloves but no one uses masks what good is it if the gym is open when you can't take a shower and put your stuff away in your locker they should obligate people to use Lysol Just like the obligate them to put gloves before they get in a the gyms it stinks anyway read more

It said if i had any issues or concerns to call my home gym. I called to confirm the status. The rep, Jake, answered the line and immediately was flustered with me that I was not specific enough. I explained to him the email. He told me even if he looked up my account, he wouldn't be able to see any of those details and that I needed to call corporate. I could've been just as annoyed with him for being lazy and unhelpful but I politely said ok I will contact corporate. Total Scam. Recently moved to the area, and I presented my Military ID with an online 5 day free pass. Fitness Connection denied the pass because their policy states one must have local ID- which I do not have. After purchasing the day pass for $16.81, Fitness Connection then informed me the gym would close relatively soon, and I would need to come the next day to fully redeem the pass. Sizable gym with new equipment but poorly managed. Also, I thought they needed more clips. read more
