I usually don't go out of my way to give bad ratings, but this is a "Public Service Announcement"! In short, they will not cancel your subscription. The worker are nice, and the community, (at the capital heights location) was supportive. The Clinton location was shabby, but it was good for what I needed. I have been trying to cancel my subscription for months now. I went into the Clinton location 4 months ago. I Expressed my desire. They told me to call ASF, and supplied a number. I called ASF, and they stated that there hands were tied, and that I had to go into the local gym to cancel!! I had already went to the location, so I called them on the phone. The phone went straight to DJ's line. His mailbox was full. Smh. I emailed the company through the website, (several times). I got no response. I emailed the email address the bank told me to email twice. (I called the bank to report charges as fraud because Fitness 4 less never responded). But they suggested that I try try to resolve. I know a few people going through this. We are ALL placing stop payments against them in our accounts. That's the only way to stop them. If you are still reading this, DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. They will, through bad system practices give you the run around when it come to your money. read more

As a previous post mentions, DJ who I assume is the owner is shady. They closed the Capitol Heights gym in January and the email that was sent stated to call ASF. When you call ASF they tell you they cannot cancel memberships to Capitol Heights, per instructions by Fitness 4 Less, and can only cancel memberships at the Clinton location. This makes no sense because the membership is month to month. I have called DJ on several occasions, left my number with the person who answers the phone because DJ "is busy", and never once have I received a call back. I cannot speak to how good the Clinton location really is but the Capitol Heights one was in bad shape. A lot of the equipment did not work, and there was almost always a bad odor inside. They shit it down because of "redevelopment" which is code for the Golds Gym that opened up two miles away took most of their business. read more

I love taking there Zumba classes on Monday and Wednesday at 6:15 the staff is very friendly and helpful! its not like big gyms with pools and all the fancy stuff but it has all the equipment you need! So im updating my 3 star to 1 star now. I canceled my membership Sept of 2020. I had asked the Owners wife to cancel it. She as behind the desk and and after a few strokes, she claimed she canceled it. She then said I could have 3 free months since ive been a loyal customer. I was elated. So here it is April of 2021...i happen to check my bank statements....come to find out, P4L has been taking membership fees out of my bank account. His wife had put a freeze on my account for 3 months for whatever reasons. As was told to me for years.... DJ is a SHADY character. I brushed off those accusations because i never really had to deal with him but Ive found out for myself. Of course I tried to contact him and his wife but of course no response. I even msgd the FB business account. Whoever the person is reading it, read it but did not respond. Ive had to call my bank and tell them not to allow PFL processing center to take any more from my bank. I call their processing center (who were the ones that told me about the freeze), its been two weeks and they're still trying to work out the problems. NEVER ill I do business with PFL again......minus the fact that their facilities were like a 3rd world country. Several violations......Light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, constant leaks in several places, chain locked backdoors, tripping hazards from the mats........good riddance of this place. The most comfortable I've been at a gym in a long time! Great hours & friendly staff. It gets a little noisy sometimes, but I always make sure I take my headphones. The music played over the intercom is awesome if you happen to leave your iPod at home. Really good fitness classes too. They offer Zumba nearly everyday of the week. Some of the instructors are definitely better/have a higher intensity level than others. I only gave them four stars because they could use a few more sanitizing stations or should probably switch to wipes. There are paper towels and spray bottles as of right now. I've only seen two stations and people will sometimes keep moving the spray bottle of disinfectant. I think some people do not take the time to wipe down the machines because they don't feel like having to look for the bottle. Make sure you spray spray spray it up when you use the equipment for that reason! Also, some of the classes change without much warning. Sometimes, I show up and the class I wanted to take is already in progress because they changed the time. The changes aren't reflected on the calendar on their website or on Facebook. That gets annoying, so I just have to call ahead of time now to find out when the classes happen. Very decent value close to home if nothing else. Easy to get to from of Branch Avenue and Woodyard Road. read more

I love this gym! Its affordable, the staff is friendly and doesn't bother you or try to sell you supplements and personal training sessions like other gyms Ive been to. It is a good mix of people thatt go there, I don't think anyone could feel out of place. Its never too crowded and I've never had to wait to use anything. They have a good selection of cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights. read more

This place is a haven for men to pester women. These men in here are watchers and harassers. I know I shouldnt judge a gym for its clientele, but its obnoxious at this gym. I only go one day out of the week for this gym because the guys here are annoying. The weights area is circular and around the perimeter AND limited and usually someone is laughing or being very loud in that area. The facility is small as a whole. The classes are the highlight of this gym. Tips for ladies: Please ignore these guys and be careful when walking to your car at night because the parking lot seems desolate at times. read more

The gym is filthy and they are predators just looking to steal your money. TRUST ME DONT NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM! ESPECIALLY WITH ACTUAL BANK INFORMATION! They can careless about you just the $20 a month fee. The gym is falling apart and nothing changes. I use a prepaid card through my bank to transfer funds to pay my membership yet even after I pay the exact amount they tried to charge me return fees twice because they want to auto deduct a payment that has been paid. If I could give zero stars, i would. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. The manager of both the Clinton and Bowie gym, Marie, was hard to get in contact with. I wanted to teach a class here. First, I left my number with the staff numerous times(about 8) because she was either "busy", "not in yet", or she "just left". eventually I walked in and asked someone that worked there to call her. After he did, she called me immediately. I told her I was interested in teaching a class. At first i was willing to rent out the space but she starting talking to me about actually being on staff there to teach which was better for me. After I auditioned to teach and talked to her for an hour about a start date, trial period, etc., I thought everything was a go. i texted her my name and ideas and never got a text back. I called, no answer. One time she did call me back saying that her "assistant Jackie" was suppose to give me a call the following week because she handles those things. Needless to say, I never got a call. After a month of nothing I called her and left a voicemail saying if I hadn't heard from her by the end of the month, then I'll assume she didn't want to move forward. Instead of ignoring the fact that I was trying to communicate with her (like a middle-schooler), she should have just told me she didn't wan the actual class. It's better I find out now though that they don't communicate, than for her to have owed me money from a class. Again, DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. read more

You get what you pay for... this gym is a joke. Can you say GHETTO!! The machines are old and a lot of them are broken (BTW, they charge each member $40 yr for maintenance fees). There are several people, mainly men, that congregate at this gym - not working out, walking around talking. The classes are over crowded - which is a good thing but could you please start on time!!!!! Every class is late - why do we have to stand in the middle of gym waiting for the other class to end, which is always at least 10 min!!!!! Rico the Zumba instructor - yeah right. I know to each is own but come on - can you find a better certified instructor? A instructor that can signal, at least??? We're not one of the "groupies" or one of your "good girl friends", okay! He actually could be a great guy - be he is soo small that you can't see him. (there's no platform in the studio) I don't want to do Zumba to house music every Saturday mornings. Speaking of music, taking the classes are a nightmare - the speakers never work! Oh, regarding the other instructors - some are nice and some are good! One in particular, I believe her name is Verneta. She always mention bad foods / habits during the class and she only instructs, she doesn't workout with you or provide encouragement. News flash, you are there to help reform/change lives, not discourage by using comments referring to what people eat in a bad way. If you were doing this as a bit of encouragement, then it would be different. I joined as a supporter to one of my friends, who yes, is on the larger side - your comments are offensive. Like other views, I too didn't feel all warm and fuzzy about signing up for this gym but it is open 24 hours, close to my house and my friend really wanted to make a physical change in her life - so why not? $20 per month, no problem. Planet Fitness or any other gym will prove to be best. Again, they need to work on customer service, upgrading machines, additional or a larger studio for classes. So, with all the negatives with this gym my friend was discourage and stopped going - now she goes to a place called Strong Results (Kevin Strong) in Bowie, MD which has prove to be excellent (she lost 15 pounds in 2 months) and the motivation is incredible. When it comes to my safety, equipment and overall customer services, yes, I will pay more! This gym is not the worst, but it isn't great - the bare necessity! read more

Went to check out this gym. It's very convenient as it's located right next to route 5. Easy on/off. Staff are friendly. HOWEVER,,, what's up with not having paper towels or even a hand dryer in the bathroom! There's no hand sanitizer either. They tell u to wipe down the equipment after each use but only provides you with microfiber towels (rags) that are frankly overused and look like they outta be thrown away like yesterday. I like it becos of the location. Oh. I also didnt see any barbells. There is only ONE set of the weights. So, if someone is using the weight you want, u gotta wait for it. But I guess u get what u pay for. For the price, it's an ok gym. read more

It's a great gym and the staff is great @ the Clinton location! They're very helpful and friendly. You can't beat the fact that included with your membership is unlimited use of the workout classes offered and 24hour access to all locations. However I'm terrified to use and I'm extra careful not to touch anything in the restroom/locker room/showers. If I could describe that area with one word I'd use "TRIFILING"... Actually I'll add DISGUSTING and FILTHY. Maybe cleanliness was not included with the membership fee. Also once you sign up you can't opt out of the contract until one year is up, which was cool until the first time I went to try and use the shower after my workout. Soooo If you want a great gym and are not concerned about hygienic safety, this is the gym for you! read more

Attempting to Cancel my membership when i left town was the worst experience ever, it literally took me 2 years and eventually it required me calling my bank to cut off payments to them to make my membership inactive, then they sent my payments that they couldn't collect to collections. I did everything that them and ASF asked me to do and I still had to end up paying off the collections amount before I was totally rid of it all. I DO NOT recommend joining this gym if they this is the way they deal with long standing members. The sad part is that I would have probably re-joined with them when I came back into the country if they didn't give me such a hard time in the first place. read more

Convenience would be the only reason to go to this gym. When something breaks you can expect at least a two month minimum for it to be fixed, theres a broken mirror and glass just to name of few things that have been broken for more than a year. At one time the water fountain was down for more than 3 months. When it comes to the staff they are a great but the owner does the least with this particular facility. Beware all you do is sign up at the gym all financial things are handled somewhere else so if you have a problem don't beat up the employees there's nothing they can do. All in all don't join unless you have no other options and beware of price increases just because when I started it was $9.99 and then i got a letter saying $19.99 and I can go to all of their facilities, not what i asked for or signed up for!!! read more

Please make sure you watch your bank account closely with this company. I signed up for a membership at the Capitol Heights MD location, which eventually closed there doors. The owner of the gym emailed members informing them of the closing of this gyms location however the processing of these memberships fees continued. I called the Clinton MD location informing them that I would like to cancel a membership and was then given a 1-800 number to ASF for cancellation. Upon calling the number and speaking with CS Rep Anitra, I was told that I cannot cancel my own membership. DJ from the Clinton MD location is the only individual who is granted the ability to cancel all memberships. She made a note stating they should not have directed me to their processing company but instead rerouted me to speak with DJ whom is located at the Clinton MD location. I called back to that location and the same gentlemen who directed me to the processing center for cancellations only then informed that DJ was not present at that time. This gentlemen then made an extremely vage note that he had my number and would have DJ return my call. This membership system is a set up and needs to be reassessed as well as the staff! Just pay as you go! Beware of signing a membership with this company it's a rip-off!!!! read more

The gym is better than good as far as basics go; the equipment is always plentiful and in working order when I go. However, I recently moved from the Clinton area and needed to cancel my membership. Apparently, there is a 30day notice requirement and a $75 cancellation fee! I don't know if I totally overlooked this when signing the contract, but this seems excessive and a definite price gauging tactic that could make up for their low monthly fee... after all, in order to be released from their contract, they get another month's membership fee PLUS $75! I do hope I overlooked this in my contract, but coming from NYC and throwing down everything from BIG BUCKS to change for a gym membership, there was never a time when I had to pay a termination fee. The gym itself is good, but the management is totally useless. I have been trying to resolve billing issues because of their screw-up and I've left 6 messages for the owner and manager with the staff and NO ONE has called me. It has been almost 3 months and my account has supposedly gone into collections even though their system says I OWE NOTHING and am up to date on my payments. Depak from India won't stop calling me to harrass me about owing the gym money, but the manager doesn't have time to return my calls. I've belonged to this gym roughly 3 years. I've gone off and on. Reason being I leave for a few months in hopes that the equipment is fixed and they've made upgrades. Yes equipment gets fixed but then something else breaks and then there is months before it is fixed!! No upgrades! Every now and then it looks as though they went and found someone from the home depot parking lot to come in and touch up paint!!! Wooohoo! Now I have seen the staff come through and mop and vacuum but to me its at inconvient times. I think it should be done at a time when nobody is there, maybe 2 am, maybe 1 or 2 people. Whatever they use to mop is Strong and it will gag ya! How could I forget!!! There is a big hole in the ceiling, leaks water I guess when it rains, which has a trash can collecting it! Unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here recently, broken mirror, finally fixed, step machine, both(2 only) are broke. Equipment has wear and tare which is expected but buttons look as though they've been over pushed. I've tried to give this gym a chance. I left anytime fitness because it was more expensive and smaller but I'd definitely go back! At least they were clean, up to date equipment and sanitizing wipes! Not paper towels and spray bottles filled with god knows what!!!! I'm very dissapointed in this gym! The classes I have taken are great! Hence the two stars! But I Dont even want to take them any more because they are over crowded and I'm sorry but some of the zumba instructors are gaining weight!!! Wth! Dissapointing if you ask me! Now to a deeper concern. I've been trying to switch my times up because there are some men who are there just not only to work out but hit on women. I've been approached by one man who had the nerve to make a tongue gesture at me! Some older gentleman made me uncomfortable. I'm not the most fit nor the sexiest but all I want to do is work out!! I don't like being bothered while working out. Its very discouraging! The weight area is a joke!!! Half of that section is broke with signs saying they are out of order. Smh I'm willing to drive further and pay more! Also some patrons take no time to wipe down the equipment!! I have yet to cancel my membership only because I hear of how hard it is to get out of! While the Woodyard Rd is semi ok. The Upper Marlboro location is disgusting. The bathrooms are rarely clean, there was a flood a month ago, they have had the doors back open for over a week and the mildew is all over the floors and the weights. The cardio equipment is broken most of the time even before the flood. Both are run by the same owners and they are completely unresponsive and don't seem to care about their clients. You should definitely pick another gym! read more

We became members over one year ago, and just recently cancelled our membership. Here is why: hygiene. The bathrooms and common areas are always filthy. During an early Saturday visit, the bathrooms have not been cleaned and the stench was unbearable. The front-desk clerk, was spread out in one of the chairs at the reception/front with her cell on her hand paying attention to nobody and nothing. When a patron approached her about the bathroom and lack of sanitizers, paper towels and overflowing trash cans, she turned the other way and continue playing with her phone (for sure she is related to the owners, no manager would put up with that). At any given point, broken/missing weight equipment, -the water fountain was broken for over 3 months. As cheap as the membership is, it's not worth the trouble ...you may catch something and it's not going to be good! read more

Typically I don't like to bad mouth businesses but this gym has the worst customer service. They continue to charge fees that don't exist and when you attempt to resolve the issue no one is ever available. Time and time of visiting the gym to talk to the manager is pointless and leaving a message with the staff doesn't help either. No one returns messages or phone calls and the manager is never in. I asked for the manager first and last name and they told me I couldn't have that info. When I asked for the owner they told me I could not have that information either. WTH!? The gym is ran by a bunch of young kids who lack customer service. I tried canceling my membership and they told me the fees for June had to be resolved but it was paid in advance but they charged the card on file instead. The card on file is a prepaid card with no money (thank god) because this is the third time something like this has occurred. I rather pay more money for less headache and better customer service. read more

the gym is filthy needs help in so many ways. the management needs to listen, owners need to listen to the people that go to that gym. your front office staffers are killing your business. as you enter no one is there to greet or assist. the offices are dirty just to look at as a new customer. the staff is very ill informed about the gym and no copies of gym classes because the management does not provide it. the equipment is old and the floors are horrible. the ceiling air ducts have been in repair mode for months. fitness for less in capital heights md is the best. the staff, the inside and the customer service is superior. the best person the clinton md site has is the instructor named darren. top notch individual and instructor. mr gym owner should take notes. you have a great instructor. if wanting to speak to anyone within management you would not find it because no one know anything. poor just so poor gym. it should close. read more
