I recently moved from out of state and was looking for a gym nearby, landed here at Fitness 19. The gym has everything it needs, especially regarding free weights and machines. It can get crowded at times, but that is expected. This gym has the feel that 5-10 years ago it was amazing, but that nothing has been updated since. The 2 stair masters have had the same "broken" signs for 4 months. At this point, fix them or honestly just remove them from the gym. It's a tease. Multiple other cardio equipment broken, only a few bikes are operational. Cleanliness is average. I've never seen more than one person working at a time (almost always a teenager) so maybe cleaning happens when they are closed? Not sure. The cleaning wipes are consistently empty and water spills occur without being cleaned up pretty regularly. Overall - it's a fine gym. It does technically have everything necessary, albeit a lot of cardio equipment is not functional. The free tanning is a plus, if you're into that. read more

The only thing this gym needs to do is take away the chairs next to the squat racks people tend to lounge in and take way too long. I shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes for a squat rack because some idiot and his gf think taking up two racks and OHPing the bar requires 10 minutes of "rest" and scrolling through TikTok. I also wish they had showers. Has a good amount of cardio equipment. Despite the chairs encouraging people to not go above 110 bpm hr there's 5 racks with two having a DL platform, lots of free weights, and my favorite a hip thrust bench. Being a wellness competitor I do legs 3-4 days a week and there is every leg machine you can imagine here. Just joined, and I'll be happy once the Resolution Rush calms down. read more

I stopped over here upon a recommendation from someone at Healthtrax to learn about their Silver Sneakers program. Much as though I would love to do cardio and strength getting older has limited my capacities to engage in high impact activities. Fitness 19 is a chain and upon joining after paying a registration fee costs $19.00 month. You are given a key card to swipe each time you enter and your membership is honored at their other locations. Upon request I got to tour the facility. The main floor has a number of exercise machines such as treadmills, ellipticals, etc. I learned that not all machines are TV compatible even though you bring your own headset. Some of them have them mounted on the machine itself. This floor also hosts a "red" light room for both tanning and other restorative needs There is also a massage chair and a wellness area. On the same the floor are small lockers where you can stow your belongings as well as a coat rack. They do not have a shower but they have a couple of changing rooms for your convenience. Traditional rest rooms are off to one side. Downstairs they have more strength equipment along with a free weights area. The man I spoke to explained to me that they just renovated a space which will be used primarily for free weights. In addition he showed me a newly redecorated room with a ballet bar which they plan to use for classes. This location plans to start classes next week but on a limited basis. They offer child care for an additional fee. If you have Silver sneakers membership card then you can join for free but you are only permitted to use the machines and take only Silver Sneakers classes. Looking at their new schedule I saw the only offer Silver Sneakers "classic" and "yoga" for the time being. If you want full use of all the classes they offer as well as the perks such as the massage chair then you must pay $10.00 month surcharge. Personal training is also offered here. Currently they have half hour sessions but they plan to start full hour next month. Rates on personal training is pricey but they are competitive with other gyms I have visited. Fitness 19 does not have any pool which is why the rates are a bit lower. Some of the equipment I saw had torn seats but was told they are in the process of upgrading it. A gym really is a matter of personal preference according to your needs and fitness goals. I ask myself "does it have everything that meets my needs with physical restrictions?" This one clearly does not. While I intend to check out another location closer to my home I don't feel it is worth the extra $10.00 month if I don't plan to come here on a regular basis just to get the classes I'm after. I'm not an exercise machine person since a class environment helps me achieve my goals. Still for those who love to work out on them as well as use strength machines it is not a bad bargain. This gym is dirty, messy, and cluttered, and the equipment needs to be fixed. Staff are unable to manage basic membership functions. I signed up for a membership online and went in for a card for myself and my two kids. The woman was able to activate one card and told me to come back later. I returned and the person working was able to activate my card and noticed someone named Patrick was on our membership. He said I had to return when someone else was working that could remove the mystery person and add my son. read more

I was a member of Fitness 19. I canceled in November of 2020 and numerous times after. Yet, they continue to charge me for my membership!! I originally called and was told that I had to come in and sign a form to cancel, which I did. Then, a few months later they called to offer my husband his free training with membership. I told the trainer that we are no longer members and had canceled the previous November. He said that he would take care of it. Then, this happened again a few months later when another trainer called. Again, I told them that we are no longer members and they said they would take care of it. I recently called the gym in Caste Village AGAIN when I realized that I was still being charged the $29/month membership. The woman on the phone said that the manager was not in (it was Sunday) but that he would call me Monday morning to take care of this.... no surprise, no call! I then spoke to their corporate customer service. The woman said that she would contact my local gym and refund my money. No confirmation and no indication that this is in process even though I was supposed to receive an email. Thankfully, my credit card has been charging back the fees for this year but I am still owed a couple hundred dollars from Fitness 19. The only communication that I receive from Fitness 19 is them trying to collect on the charge-backs. Are you kidding me? This company is a joke! Do they need the money so bad they are willing to take it without permission?!! This is ridiculous! Stay away... far, far away! There are many gyms in the south hills that have a lot more to offer, are WAAAY cleaner, and actually run like a legit business. read more

You have to go in person to cancel a membership or stop in person? I don't live in the area and was paying for my brother's membership. He isn't using it and I want to cancel it. They make it impossible to cancel. An email or a phone call won't do. Absolute nonsense. They also stopped answering my emails when I asked about canceling. Very unprofessional. read more

I didn't like going to public gyms but I really love fitness 19 with how friendly and welcoming they were towards the residents I take care of it encouraged me to go. I'm so happy I did. I go everyday the staff are still very polite and honest. I don't feel judged coming to this gym like before read more

Come here when I am in from out of town. Have been here 3 separate trips and haven't had to pay yet. Having said that, I will be joining as a member for the connivence of how frequently I'm in Pittsburgh. There are usually plenty of cardio machines available. People of all sizes so it rarely feels like a meat market. Major plus!!! Staff is friendly although, I haven't had any personal training from them yet. Prices are extremely reasonable. They have plenty of TV's and some cardio machines have their own TV's (which cam be extremely difficult to operate.) I really do like Fitness 19, and will consider myself a regular on my next vacation to Pittsburgh. read more

This is a great gym It's never over crowded and since they added the downstairs and put all the free weights down there, there's even more room It's clean, the same staff from when I joined five years are still there. If you wait until they have a special you can get in for about 12-15$ a month. No frills, no pool or sauna, a small changing room and small bathroom. But they have do have a kids zone where you can drop the littles off while you work out read more

Enjoy going. The staff friendly and the place is clean. They screen everyone coming in. Some of the people who go there ignore the distancing sheets on the machines and move them around. But you can still distance yourself reasonably. read more

Update: Since this review, it is now possible to drink from the fountains. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the place has not improved and if the management cannot see this, as it's blatantly obvious, that's the problem then. ie: the mold all over the bathroom wall has been there forever and the cardio equipment is NEVER cleaned. The bathroom should be cleaned multiple times a day even, the same shit seems to always be caked on the toilet. I admit, I have not been in the changing rooms for a while, but I can bet if I went in there the same dirt is still there. I can understand that cleaning is a job that no one wants to do, but it's part of the business you are in and you owe it to the members to have a safe and sanitary place to work out read more

Love this gym and the open floor plan. The price is good and it's well kept, which is insanely important in a gym environment.

I have been working out at fitness 19 for almost 3 years now. i had never had a gym membership before because I'm a runner and used to run outside. Since my allergies and asthma have gotten worse, my doctor recommended working out indoors. I like fitness 19. The staff is pretty friendly. I mostly just use the treadmills, but sometimes I dabble in other equipment. The membership fees are VERY reasonable, especially for families. They also have childcare at this location (I'm not sure about the others) and though I've never used it my sister has with no complaints. The only negative is there are no showers. This is fine if you plan to work out and and go straight home, which I often do. However, this is one of the reasons you pay less than some other gyms. They tend to get crowded around the new year but that dies down and I almost never have to wait for a treadmill. All in all, it's a good place to work out and very reasonable. read more

This is a great gym for the price! Since the remodel almost a year ago it is very spacious. Very nice equipment that is well maintained. They have a very nice sized free weight room and plenty of cardio equipment plus a lot things you won't find at other gyms. Just a real nice place for the money! read more

Wanted to cancel for lack of use and they would not let me out of the $59 annual fee or the current or next month's $19 fee. Additional $100 paid and haven't used in probably a year. I will never go back as a result. They got all them money they will get out of me. They know I haven't been in forever.
