My husband booked fat tire bikes for us to ride for the day. For some reason he thought they were…read moree-bikes, which was slightly funny at the time. They clearly expected us to last maybe 2 hours tops. They gave us good direction as far as where to ride and where on the sand to stay. They gave us one bike with an adjustable seat, and one that was not adjustable. They adjusted it to fit my son, but didn't tighten it enough to keep it in place. By the time we got to the beach it was all the way down with no way to fix it. It was a very windy day, which is part of the beach experience, but it was much harder given that we are tall and the bike was too small. I felt like we were not given all the information we needed. I would not rent the bikes again.

I am a native of Phoenix Arizona and this style of playground is extremely rare if not non-existent…read moreand have always wanted to see a wooden playground for myself so I went to Oregon and went during our trip. It's very charming and adds a little edge with how barbaric some parts of the attraction are but it honestly was so fun and unique. I heard they're planning to demolish this style of playground (lots of blisters and spiders honestly, this place hasn't been well kept in a while and even has mold on a lot of the planks.) I will still be very sad to see it go. :/ I can see why this might not be such a major attraction to children for the lack of colors and honestly it looks a bit daunting and medieval but what's without a little fun with something unusual? I'm glad I got to experience it at least once before it goes and at least I made a memory with it now. Lovely view too of the lake and so pretty and quiet.

The Knoll hike involves a pretty decent trek up to a grassy, expansive overlook of the coastline…read more There are a few parking options for hiking The Knoll. But no matter which you choose be prepared for a fairly steep uphill climb. You can make it a full loop, about 3 miles in total. To me the section directly up from Logan Road covering the ridge top around to the Gods Thumb offshoot is pretty, but the other half of the loop down to the cul de sac parking is not so picturesque. Regardless, you'll get a decent workout no matter which route you take up and down. There are lots of caterpillars vying for a spot on the trail right now, so watch your step. :) A fun and clearly popular hike, The Knoll seems to stay pretty busy on the weekends, so go early!

I feel compelled to write this review mostly so other people understand what they are signing up…read morefor. My wife and I went to Adventure Collective at Salishan with my daughter and her boyfriend. I had been zip lining once before, so when I read that the experience included "two zip lines," I somehow interpreted this to mean there were two zip-line courses to choose from. There are not. There are literally two zip lines. One takes you up into the treetops, and the other eventually brings you back. What happens BETWEEN those two zip lines is where things took an unexpected turn. What I thought was going to be a lovely afternoon soaring peacefully through the coastal forest turned out to be what my wife described as "paramilitary training for the end of the world." My daughter called it American Ninja Warrior training. I personally chose to imagine that the zombies had arrived and my survival depended entirely on making it across a swinging broken bridge 40 feet in the air. Because that is basically what you're doing. There are swinging bridges, barrels you have to somehow get across, rope swings, obstacles dangling in midair, and all sorts of other situations where you find yourself thinking, "Interesting. I did not realize this was how I was going to die today." It also requires WAY more upper-body strength than I was expecting. At several points I was fighting for my life while my daughter and her boyfriend were apparently having a wonderful time. Was it physically challenging? YES. Was it terrifying? Also yes. Did I spend a significant portion of the experience pretending I was escaping zombies in order to motivate myself to continue? Absolutely. Would someone who loves heights, obstacle courses, adrenaline, American Ninja Warrior, or preparing for the collapse of civilization have an amazing time here? 100%. Just know: this is much more of a treetop adventure/obstacle course than what I would personally call a "zip-line tour." Had I understood that going in, I probably would have been slightly more psychologically prepared for the battle ahead. And I do want to give a huge shout-out to the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, patient, encouraging, and helpful. At one point my helmet was hurting my head, and someone actually went all the way back to get me a different one, which I really appreciated. So five stars for the staff, the experience, and the fact that I survived. If you're looking for an adrenaline-filled treetop adventure, GO. You will probably love it. If you're looking for a relaxing afternoon of zip lining through the forest like I was... congratulations. You too may discover what you're made of.
