Now on to my trainer Asad: have you ever woken up the morning after an intense workout and thought to yourself "my very existence is causing me pain right now" - but like in a really good way? Yeah that's me after every session with this guy. He kicks my butt in the best way possible. The great thing about him is that he makes working out fun as hell. There hasn't been a single session where we weren't cracking jokes and having a good time. But the BEST thing about him is that he really cares about your goals and he pushes you to be a better version of yourself. I once made the mistake of telling him that my program felt too easy. I have never regretted saying anything so much in my life, because the next day I came in and I was sweating buckets within the first 6 minutes. He's the guy you LOVE to hate. The one you can't wait to swear at under your breath as he's adding more weights to your trap bar, not to ruin your life (as you most likely will be thinking in that moment), but because he knows you can do better. The one that encourages you to push harder and be stronger. The one that makes you go for that last dreadful lunge even as your legs are collapsing under you, because he refuses to let you give up on yourself like that. He's not the trainer you need, he's the trainer you deserve. So he'll kick your ass. Because he knows you can take it. He's a vigilant mentor, a faithful spotter. A great trainer.

I had a gym membership…read moreyears ago ... can't remember a thing except that it's paid parking, which made it much less attractive for the membership. I also find the parking and access situation not so user friendly. You can start parking almost as soon as you pull in off Lawrence Avenue, but then you're left wondering where on earth to access the facilities, which consist of a number of services including the athletic facilities, the banquet hall/conference centre, the Foundation, the cafe, and last but sort of least, the old age home, which is affiliated and located behind the centre, but has its own parking lot off Playfair Avenue parallel to Lawrence. I basically took an entire tour around the complex before locating the athletic entrance, from which I then found the cafe. We met in the cafe, which has a more upscale atmosphere than I remembered and/or expected. There are so many food and beverage options available, many that I hadn't seen before anywhere else. For take home items, you can get Stella brand bags of Espresso, and, get this, pizza dough to bring home to make your own pizza. There were so many items, I couldn't remember and list them all. The cookies and baked goods all looked plump and fresh. They offer ice cream, various coffee based beverages, and meal options. My cousin insisted on getting the coffee, which I declined for myself during this visit. She's happy with it and the cafe in general so, I will take her up next time and try the coffee and one of the tempting items offered. While the entrance to the cafe looks deceptively narrow, the interior is actually quite spacious. The seating options are a little less comfy than I prefer, all being standalone tables and chairs that make it a little difficult to deal with your winter clothing and any bags you might have. Apart from that, the ambiance is quite nice with European flair decor, and lots of windows through which you can see the statuary and green space grounds. If it weren't for the paid parking and awkward entrance access, I'd be coming here more often.

Came for a recent event and the place is nice. It's attached to a restaurant…read more It seems like a bit of a hidden place as I didn't notice too many people going in or out. Seemed quite clean. There's some interesting modern art pieces that seem to rotate and there are busts of some famous Italian artists. Replica statue of david and a shadow version as well. Staff are friendly and all wearing masks. The security at the front is very intense about making sure everyone is wearing a mask which is comforting in these times that this place is following the rules. Lots of signs stating social distancing and masking policy. Overall, pretty neat place in Toronto and seems like a good place to hold small events.
