Prior to that I was exercising sporadically - boxing here and there, running some days, going to the gym inconsistently and with no specific regimen in mind. Monique did help me reach my goal of looking halfway decent in a bikini by the time April rolled around! But more than that she has inspired me to keep at it outside of our sessions. So aside from the 2-3 times a week we spend together, I have been more consistent in working out on the other days of the week. Whether it be running or boxing or yoga (coming soon!) I have a desire to keep active. Fitness is no longer a fad for me - it has become a way of life. Five months later I'm still working out with Monique's help. I started going to BBB because if I ever got into a fight at a bar, I wanted to feel confident kicking someone's ass. Plain and simple. I'm 5'1 so... Napoleonic Complex I guess? I LOVE BBB at Bayside because well first of all there is actual parking next door for it. Parking for a classes-only gym... In QUEENS?? Unheard of. But more importantly, everyone is serious about fitness and works really hard exercising, but no one takes themSELVES too seriously. It's not a popularity contest. It's mostly young professionals who are there to do their thing, hype you up if necessary, and peace out. The music pumps you up, and like my favorite instructor Carlos says, this place encourages you to "Eat something healthy and don't be a jerk".

Human Fitness has exceeded expectations I didn't even know I had. Their unique and amazing coaching and care has turned this slacker into the best version of myself I've ever been. Her workouts are thorough, comprehensive, and tailored absolutely to what your needs are. I am very discerning when it comes to trainers - having worked out with a number of them, and having been in the fitness industry myself for 10 years - and have a very, very high standard for whom I train with. And I appreciate having a trainer to motivate me and keep things challenging while understanding what's appropriate for me, where I am, and where I want to be. Christine is great at creating innovative, interesting, non-repetitive workouts. When we started working out, I brought in recommendations from my physical therapist and some of the rehab exercises I was doing, and she was able to incorporate them into the workout, but in new ways. She helped me build symmetry and strength - and now that joint that we spent a lot of time stabilizing is no longer an issue :-) She's been able to modify workouts on the fly if I wanted more challenge or needed less challenge. We've been training in different settings (Bootcamp/Inferno class, partner training, personal training for my mom who was recovering from hip surgery, small group training for me and my children), and I love the fun approach with the visible and noticable results.
