So I've been tracking Cooked…read moreBuffalo on their Instagram, I remember when another meal prep service opened a store front in Kenmore and EVERYONE in my previous office was heating up their meals for lunch. I was interested but not jumping on the train, a year or so later and a new year resolution..... Cooked Buffalo is a meal prep service located in Buffalo, they offer a decent size menu and from I can tell it changes periodically. The menu is available for download on their website and is either breakfast or lunch/dinner. The meals have cute names based upon what their theme is, Thai Tanic, Wakey, Wakey, El Chapo & Ma, the Meatloaf are a few examples. Below each description of the meal the calorie, protein, carb and fat content is listed. Ordering is easy enough, I did it on phone. You simply fill out a form checking a radial button for the number of meals you are ordering and list the names of the meals you want and if an option to include rice or not. Once submitted you get a confirmation email confirming receipt and advising you will be billed shortly. The billing is easy enough too, I received an email shortly from PayPal to simply and easily pay my invoice and BAM, it is done. Delivery was easy enough too, I'm within the 10 mile radius so my delivery is free. I received a text message the night before reminding me and another text letting me know my bag was here, nicely placed on my porch. I've already tried the Wakey, Wakey and damn it was pretty good. I always love a little more salt and pepper but the point of this (trial) for me is to eat better. But I have to say I am pretty satisfied and am looking forward to a week of lunches for the coming week. One thing I wished that had come with my meal was the calorie breakdown in the bag or in the container label and heating instructions but both of those are small compared to what appears to be a great value. If these meals taste as good as they look I plan on ordering again.

The price isn't too bad, $7 for each meal; all in all, not bad. Where things fell apart for my wife and I were the meals themselves. Some of them were great, while others were dry and severely lacking in protein. I'm open to updating this review if we try it again, but for now the consistency of this service wasn't there for us. The Jackie Chan/salmon meal was a bit disappointing, but some of the Indian dishes they had came through well with the taste and curry. I mean, ultimately Cooked Buffalo is for meal prep and it does make the week a little easier for a lower cost solution if you're unwilling to do it yourself. Give it a shot--don't let me tell you it's good or bad, but in my experience I just found it to be AOK.

A lot of places sell you "one piece" at the same price or more and it turns out to be a half. Their naan is HUGE!! We were very, very happy with everything...so we always planned on ordering again. This most recent time we ordered chicken over rice $12, akdha (stewed chicken, chili, with potatoes) with included flatbread $18. And I added a naan because they're so delicious and generous. It's not only their naan that's generous, all their portions are huge and definitely worth the price. You can get three meals out of each dish. While eating the sandwich, I couldn't identify any flavors besides the pickled red onion and obviously the turkey. There was one single piece of green leaf lettuce and a slice of tasteless cheddar that wasn't big enough for the bun. The amount of turkey was ok, but with so few other toppings the bun was overwhelming. I had to look up the description of the sandwich because my husband forgot what it had said and we couldn't identify anything unique. Plus, the proportions were so off I assumed they had forgotten to include something. I can see why he chose it, the description on the menu sounded thoughtfully composed. It says: turkey, cheddar, chipotle-bacon mayo, pickled red onions, & mixed greens on a house-made brioche bun, $13. Technically that's an accurate description, except for the mixed greens. But neither of us could taste chipotle or bacon in the mayo, it added nothing. So this is definitely not a sandwich I would order again and it makes me skeptical of the rest of the menu. I understand that they're making the buns in-house and I appreciate that immensely. But, they aren't that great for housemade fresh bread. They taste like grocery store bakery buns. They could be so much better. It feels like a missed opportunity. The Buffalo chicken wrap was good, not great and it had a big hunk of lettuce core in it. I found it surprising that the cook didn't notice grabbing a large chunk of core when the wrap doesn't have a lot of lettuce in it. For starters the cafe is so spacious with seating inside you can sit here for hours with a good book or work to do sipping one of their drinks. Which i didn't do since I've to go to work the first time i stopped in so i just browsed the baked goodies and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I wasn't going to get anything since i was on a low-key no sugar diet but he talked me into trying one of their scones baked fresh with real fruit. And i am sooo glad he did. The blueberries were bursting with flavor and i love how it was so soft and fluffy compared to the x amount of dry scones I've encountered *happy tear* - walked to work at a snail pace while eating it and blueberry scone never had a chance to see my office table. But this is not where it ends. I went back a few days later (ahem:yesterday) and again I was only going to browse the case but the cheddar chive biscuit called to me and the staff offered to heat it up so once again i walked out of the lunch box with a pastry in hand walking home and WoW! So soft and fluffy with a hint of sea(?) salt after effect on my taste buds after each bite - this has got to be to one of the BEST biscuits I've had in a looooong time!! So yeah, wasn't planning on having sweets or any baked goods but it can't be helped when the display is so tempting when you visit TLB. Consider yourself warned :)
