I was away with some friends in Chestertown this weekend (a very low-key…read morebachelorette weekend) and one friend suggested that we find a local yoga class since it was raining and outdoor activities were a bust. My friend found Jackie online and emailed to see if she would do a class for us. Long story short, she (on very short notice) set up a private lesson for us at a super reasonable price. She asked if we had any particular areas we wanted to work on and focused the stretches on those. She worked with each of us to perfect our poses and was super fun and engaging! The time (1.5hrs) zipped by so quickly and we were incredibly relaxed afterwards. We all enjoyed it so much, that we asked her if we could come back again the next day and she agreed! Next day was even better - she pushed us to do some GREAT stretches and poses. If I lived anywhere close to Chestertown, I would definitely take regular lessons with Jackie! As a bonus, the yoga studio is attached to a GREAT coffee shop/cafe, called the Seed House. We tucked in to some tasty treats (avocado toast with poached eggs) and loose leaf tea after our workout - perfect!

While Rise is a great gym, maintenance has been an issue since day one of the new ownership. Having…read morea stationary bike out of order for a month is one thing but now the situation is far worse. The heater motor burned out on Tuesday and NO repairs have been made and there is no information available regarding status. It is COLD in the gym. And with next week's forecast showing highs in the 20s, this is not sustainable. An indoor business like this should have HVAC issues resolved same day or, worse case, next day. We're on Day 4 and no workers anywhere. I plan to ask for a refund for any days where it is too cold to use the gym.

The locker room was clean but there was a mousetrap visible under the counter. All this would have been ok but the staff was quite rude to us as visitors. We were asked for multiple forms of proof for the small discount that they offer. We were not offered lockers or any help navigating the gym. We definitely will not be back!
