At 2, my daughter could swim across the pool by herself outside of lessons. Before lessons, my daughter would freak out anytime water touched her face, after just a few lessons with Cathryn, my daughter was literally dunking her head in the bath, and is the biggest water lover now! This summer I took my 1 year old to survival float lessons with Cathryn. The first 2 weeks, my daughter absolutely hated them. Screaming, crying, but floating entirely on her own already. By the end of week 4, my daughter was laughing and lunging herself into the pool. And she absolutely loved Cathryn, cuddling into her every chance she got. Cathryn is so positive and tough in the best way. Both of my daughters absolutely love her. I look forward to taking my youngest back next summer for swim float swim! I genuinely cannot recommend SoCal Water Babies enough. Good swim lessons are SO important, and I have serious faith in her technique. There wasn't much instruction or interaction from the instructors. The instructor demonstrated the different stations, but the parents were expected to do each station with their child, which we weren't aware of beforehand. My daughter wasn't interested in participating, and I was struggling to get her involved. I was really hoping an instructor would step in and try to engage or encourage her, but no one did. At one point, my dad was encouraging her to try the bar, and one of the instructors stood at the gate with her arms crossed and repeatedly shook her head "no" at him. That interaction was especially disappointing and made us feel very unwelcome. We ended up leaving halfway through the class. Some of the details are: - She messed up our schedule and had us at the same time with another kid which she keeps insisting that she did not, but she had no clue on our first day that we were supposed to be there at 1pm. She thought that our schedule is at 10am, and I think that is because I texted her around 9am that morning asking for the address. She might even have no idea that we are coming that day since I never heard anything back from her 2 weeks before after I paid her in full. - Her teenager assistant rolled her eyes to us and openly showing how irritated she is with my kids, and Marjorie letting it happen under her supervision (she defended her saying that she was just like that because they never had a student who got sick before). Both my kids never had any swimming lessons before so I'm not really expecting for an immediate result. However, I am expecting that they will have patience with them as I assumed that they are professional kids swimming instructors who would know how to properly deal with kids. Unfortunately, that's not the case. - After telling her that we would like to cancel and requested to refund our remaining credit (we paid her in full for the 8/30mins sessions for 2 kids), she won't answer or return our call anymore. I've been calling her using my cellphone for days with no avail. The "lessons" are done in a residential house in Chesterfield Rd, Riverside - I have to mention this as the first reason why we chose Crush Bubbles here in Yelp is because of the distance from our house and it was a let down that the location was actually about 20mins farther. As of for now, It's already been more than a month since I've been asking her to refund us with our remaining credits or the days that was not used. Unfortunately, all I've been getting so far are excuses. Empire Cheer and Stunt is an "okay" gym for All Stars. The program is expensive for what you get…read more I really didn't know what to compare their program to until I left and enrolled my granddaughter in another, more experienced All Star program. It truly is like night and day. The cost for the new program is up front, no surprises. Each category of skill and placement of each athlete is clearly defined. There are rules in the parent viewing area to ensure that there is no gossiping or other negative behavior. At Empire, gossiping and negative remarks were the norm. I stopped going into the cramped, hot and toxic viewing area at Empire because it was not a pleasant experience. Another example of the toxic culture of Empire was when attending a parent meeting where the owner, Rachelle, proceeded to say that a bad review was coming because a someone was kicked off the team. The team moms bashed parents for their lack of parenting skills because athletes missed practices. It was terrible. The meeting was called because of the lack of cohesion among the team. Whose fault is that? Coaches create that dynamic. Parents can only do so much. The team moms did set up a gathering but it was to make hats that cost more money. The new gym offer camps that create an opportunity for the team to bond and get to know each other. Finally the coaches at the new gym are professional and upbuilding. My granddaughter is shy and after the very first practice, she came back beaming at the fact the coach recognized her effort. The only thing she told me about Empire coaching was that she got yelled at. I do not recommend this program at all. Save your hard earned money for a better program.

They truly treat the children like family and create a safe, loving, and fun environment where they can learn and grow. We've seen such an amazing difference in our son's confidence, communication, and social skills since he started attending.
