I stopped by here on a recent Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of fish available behind the counter. Prices are very fair too (I wish they would list this on their website because I think it would bring in more customers). Fish was fresh and I really enjoyed the cuts I ordered. They will cut steaks from the whole fish behind the counter. The rest of the store shelves are really sparse. There are some Asian products and lots of spices, but there is so much opportunity to make this place a really solid Asian fish market (fresh vegetables would be a game changer). There's lots of parking and the staff is really nice. I'll be back here for sure to try more. read more

The establishment should be a lot cleaner than it is. Also, they should wash their hands before putting on the gloves to weigh fish but instead they reuse the same dirty gloves to open the shelving doors for the fish over and over again instead of using disposable gloves when serving customers. I will not buy there again. read more

I have been going to this fish market for years. I love that they sell live blue crabs. My fish is always fresh but there is one thing I notice and was unaware that this establishment charges you for bags in the amount of 0.45 cents. Bags are free in NC so I'm not sure why this charge was added. read more

I been coming here regular getting my fish for the last 8 months, regularly. Today I went in to fishy Fish to get my regular salmon steak and a guy that was in there was rude. It seems like they were trying to rip us off. We had three of them and it came out to $25 and we had always paid around $13 to $18 for the same thing, so we refuse to buy them. The guy got upset told us to not to come back. Nobody got nasty with the guy, but he got nasty with us. This has been my go to fish market for a minute. I went in a purchased over $100 worth of fish. I wanted them to put them in separate bags...I think I had about 8 fish. Red snapper, trout, and black bass. The owner refused to bag them separately....said "we don't make money if we give you bags". My response was, the bags cost you less than a penny...and I'm spending $100 dollars". I forgot the fact that I allowed you to keep the fish heads for you to turn around and sell them again...because you know, I already paid for them. Had I not really wanted fish for dinner, I would have left them in the store....not to mention that they were half cleaned....still had remnants of guts on several of them. As I tried to approach the entrance I was reproached by a bearded young man who asked me how dare I block the intersection. I thanked him for his compassion. Hello Friends, I stopped in here yesterday (09/04) after watching my line up (anything on Food Network, or Cooking Channel) anyway they were making a nice stir fry. Now I know where they came up with the name. Pretty nice place (this isn't my 1st checkin even though the app said it was) that has about 3 or 4 rows of seasonings, tea's, canned goods, noodles, etc.. They have a lot of different fish. Clams, Mussels, Oysters etc.. (I have been on my clams, mssls, oys. kick pretty heavy as well). They have a Numbered sign that goes from 1- taking the scales off all the way up to 10 (i believe) that takes the head off, fins, etc. oh yeah, I did pick up my fish sause, seasame oil, a jar of sliced ginger, and MY whole RED SNAPPER.. less than 17.00. This fish market is straight outta some zombie apocalypse movie. We were greeted by blank, vacant stares by 3 employees instead of an actual hello. There were no lights on in the entire store except behind the glass and it was honestly 50 degrees in there. I didn't even notice the lights weren't on until I was squinting to read the spices, it was super weird. The whole place reeked of low tide and I've been in enough fish markets to know that's not what they're supposed to smell like. Thanks to my dad... this will be my go to spot for all my seafood needs! Now, I've driven past this place dozens of times and never gave it a second look... my dad's in town visiting for a week during the holidays and he finds this place and I'm hooked. The exterior aside, this place offers tons of really fresh seafood and it's really good quality. So far, I've had their shrimp, crab legs (which they will cook and season for you!!!) and fresh salmon. I would recommend them all. There is also a small grocery attached with different spices, flour and seafood breader so you can pick up all you need in one trip. The best part is the great staff. The owners and staff are always smiling and have some great suggestions to offer. This was an excellent find (thanks dad!) so if you are in the area you should definitely check them out! read more

This place is a gem and I've been coming here for years. I don't understand patrons that shop at ridiculously overpriced establishments (eg. Clean Catch). Tom procures the best head on shrimp PERIOD! So sweet and consistently so since I've been coming here. I always buy 2-3 lbs every time. To the people complaining about the fish smell, this is a seafood market! It should smell like fish, especially since there are whole fish everywhere. That's the dumbest complaint I have ever heard. If you're just selling already cut fillets then maybe your shop won't smell like fish. So just stop. Shop here if you want fresh, fairly priced seafood. Simple as that! read more

I like this fish market because it is the only place in Charlotte to get decent Blue Crabs. We usually buy blue crabs about 4-5 times during the summer. They are decent sized and always fresh and alive by the time I get them home which is an hour from the store. Others have commented on the customer service and I agree it is lacking. The owner and employees are a bit rude, whether on the phone or in person, same result. They need to understand better that the customer is the reason for them being open. I was looking for a fish market that I could get fresh salmon. I wanted to make salmon ceviche and wasn't willing to buy salmon on a grocery store, since the dish is with raw fish I tough grocery store fish could be dangerous. I had no idea this place existed, but when I was looking on Yelp for fish markets this one popped up and I got interested right away because of the good reviews. If you like seafood this is the place for you! They have so any fish and seafood options I was mesmerized. They also have a small section that looks like a grocery store focused on ingredients for fish and seafood. I almost got some jumbo shrimps too, but I would had to freeze them and it would defeat the purpose of buying fresh seafood. On the wall there are pictures of different fish cuts you can choose from, you can either buy it whole or ask them to clean and cut as you wish. Which was very convenient for me. The only down side is that they do not offer ice in the bag for you to take the fish with, so if it is a hot day and you live kind of far from them, you definitely you will need to bring something to keep the fish cooled. Pricewise is a little bit more than the supermarket but it is worth it because it is fresh. The staff is nice and very helpful. I am going back for those pretty shrimps! read more

I usually have a decent experience when I go into this seafood market. This actually was my go to spot when I want fresh fish. However the last to visits have changed my perception of this place and I starting to feel uneasy and unappreciated as a customer. Today I went in as usual the gentleman behind the seafood counter greeted me and assisted me with my order immediately. I made my fish selection and waited for it to be cleaned. Once he was done he passed me the bag, thanked me and I headed to the checkout counter to pay. The owner was behind the counter watching tv and I guess Interrupted his show, he didn't greet me at all just gave the total was scaffolding while I dug in my purse for exact change. I asked for another bag because the one the I had was dripping with fish water. He threw it on the counter and went back watching his show. Rude! Needless to say I would not spend another one of my hard earned dollars there. The time before this the same man asked me was I using ebt (welfare) It made me pause but I didn't want to overthink it and told him no and moved past it. This time I left disgusted, knowing that I have encouraged friends and family to patronize this business. Now my thoughts have changed I won't recommend this business. I went into this market at the suggestion from a friend and Bought 2 lbs of shrimp. When I got home and opened the bag, there was a stench. Thought maybe it was just my imagination, and that if the scent got worse while cooking, I'd know they shrimp were bad, so I cooked shrimp anyway. While cooking, the stench got waaaaaaay worse. I Ended up disposing of the entire bag, almost $30 down the drain! I wanted to give 0 stars, but at least 1 star is required. I will never Ever return to this market, ever. I have heard so many people say that this fish market smelled of fish as you pulled up. I beg to differ. I walked in the front door and fishy fish did not smell fishy at all until I got right up to the fish counter of course. The selection was great. I ordered a few pounds of perch filets and jumbo shrimp. I seasoned with a dash of salt and deep fried them using House Autry Seafood Breader. The fish smelled and tasted very fresh. The shrimp was great also. The store is very clean and the staff is very nice. the prices are in line with market value for this area. Actually the perch was a dollar cheaper than fresh catch and southside seafood market. I will be back to try the fresh Croaker and whiting. I am giving a 4 start because I haven't had a second trip or a taste of the different varieties to form and first hand opinion. I will be back soon though. read more
