I been coming here regular getting my fish for the last 8 months, regularly. Today I went in to fishy Fish to get my regular salmon steak and a guy that was in there was rude. It seems like they were trying to rip us off. We had three of them and it came out to $25 and we had always paid around $13 to $18 for the same thing, so we refuse to buy them. The guy got upset told us to not to come back. Nobody got nasty with the guy, but he got nasty with us. I will not be returning back here and if you are in the area find a different fish market cuz this place is a complete rip-off

two boxes of crab legs

I love this place!! Just bought 2 cases of crab legs for a celebration and they were amazing. On a side note- the other reviews that say this place isn't good because it smells like fish- well duh!!! I mean really- are you kidding me?? A fish market smelling like fish... who knew. Looking for good fresh seafood, please try these folks out.

Hello Friends, I stopped in here yesterday (09/04) after watching my line up (anything on Food Network, or Cooking Channel) anyway they were making a nice stir fry. I admit. i have been on Cedar Plank grilling (thanks to Sam the Cooking Guy) kick for weeks but now... Now I think i'll take my talent to Stir Fry cooking. I came in looking for some fish sause, and whole Red Snapper and THAT'S all! Yelp (welp) after I walked in while the owner held the door open for me, I was met with the pungent smell of fish (?????) Now I know where they came up with the name. Pretty nice place (this isn't my 1st checkin even though the app said it was) that has about 3 or 4 rows of seasonings, tea's, canned goods, noodles, etc.. They have a lot of different fish. Clams, Mussels, Oysters etc.. (I have been on my clams, mssls, oys. kick pretty heavy as well). They have a Numbered sign that goes from 1- taking the scales off all the way up to 10 (i believe) that takes the head off, fins, etc. oh yeah, I did pick up my fish sause, seasame oil, a jar of sliced ginger, and MY whole RED SNAPPER.. less than 17.00. Its just waiting for me to get home and bring my talents with me!! Cheer's to the gift of Giving and the Blessing of recieving, To eat like Men and to Drink like Fish!!

Went there to get calms to fish with, they were nice size. Bring cash if you will spend under $10.00, they only process plastic if over $10.

This place smells horrible. I would never buy fish from a place that smells bad before you even open the door.

There's a real sense of history here. From what I understand, Reid's is one of the oldest grocers in Charlotte, and that legacy shows in the details. The rich green tile, classic signage, and thoughtfully designed layout create an elevated, almost European-style market experience. It feels polished, intentional, and welcoming all at once. What stands out: * The store is beautifully merchandised and carefully curated with specialty and seasonal items you don't always find elsewhere. * The wine bar and café concept make this more than a grocery stop--it's a place to linger. I've enjoyed flights, tastings, and brunch on the patio, and each visit has felt like a small occasion. * Location-wise, it really depends on which store you're visiting. The SouthPark and Myers Park locations have easy, convenient parking, and there's also a newer location in Ballantyne (near Pineville). The Uptown locations, while not necessarily "easy parking," are incredibly walkable--perfect if you live, work, or have meetings nearby. If you're already Uptown, this is a fantastic stop to pick up elevated items for a beautiful dinner--think wine, specialty cheeses, or even something indulgent like caviar to round things out. One thing I appreciate is that Reid's doesn't try to be everything to everyone. It's not an organic-focused market like Whole Foods, and that's okay--it serves a different purpose. The clientele here tends to be people looking for specialty ingredients, elevated prepared foods, and a more curated shopping experience. Many shoppers probably visit both stores depending on their needs, and I find myself doing the same. When Reid's really shines: During the holidays and special seasons. Their selection of unique, festive, and hard-to-find items makes it a go-to for entertaining or finding something a little extra special. Overall, Reid's feels like a true Charlotte institution--elegant, distinctive, and consistently well executed. It's the kind of place that makes grocery shopping feel enjoyable again, and I'm looking forward to continuing to explore more of what they offer as I keep eating my way through Charlotte. Bottom line: A beautifully curated local market with history, charm, and a destination-worthy wine bar--perfect for specialty shopping, brunch, and seasonal finds.
