I gave this place a try a handful of times since it's so close to me but I had more bad experiences than good. A few times it was fine, not great but fine, but some of the technicians need training to not damage your nails. Once I went in and got gel polish removed and she was so rough she put a dent/pit in one of my nails that took a while to grow out. I've also had two different people clip my cuticles so aggressively I bled, which has never happened to me anywhere else. The last time it wouldn't stop bleeding where she cut me and instead of waiting a few more minutes she started to paint over the cut, at that point I had it and told her to just remove the color and left. I don't want to constantly leave a place worrying if I'm going to get an infection because they gave me an open wound. In addition they take appointments but then don't actually hold a spot for you, so you either have to wait a while or awkwardly sit in a pedicure chair to get a mani. It's a shame, I hardly get my nails done anymore because there's no good spots nearby. read more

Came here on a few occasions prior to a vacation with the need for pedicures. Usually make an appointment as they get booked up fast. Even with that, there is still some wait before being serviced. The service is great and the employees are super friendly. They take their time and I've never felt rushed. The complimentary beverages are a plus (water, wine, or soda). With the wine it makes me feel like my pedicure is the start to my vacation. While that is all good, they are slightly pricy compared to other nail salons I've patronized. read more

Since Fishtown Nails Bar Cafe is walkable and close by, I would love for it to be my reliable nail salon, but unfortunately, it is not. The nail techs here are all so very nice, but only a few are more advanced than the others. Last time (and some of the other times), my nail chipped a day later, and the others started to chip thereafter. It was the holiday, and I was out of the city, I couldn't just go back and get it fixed, which was a major disappointment. I got a gel manicure with designs on every nail, so of course it was costly. I do enjoy the perks of their customer service, complimentary drinks, quick mini back massage included, and reward system, but getting my nails done here has truly been more of a miss than a hit. read more

So obsessed with this manicure! They had such a nice array of color options, and even offered me wine. I got OPI dip powder with clear chrome on top. My nail artist even took the time and consideration to give her opinion and offer to switch my chrome color for me when the first color I chose wasn't what I wanted. Cut my toes three times during the pedicure and did not know what "French tip" meant. Fortunately someone more experienced took over at that point and they came out looking decent. That said I can still feel the sting from The cuts as I write this. Every person and every business has its off day and seems like I unfortunately experienced theirs. Other customers with more experienced employees seemed happy but they don't let you book a specific person and assign at random so I guess it's the luck of the draw. I really enjoyed my experience at Fishtown Nails Bar Cafe! I was looking for a place to get a gel manicure on short notice, and they're only 2 blocks from my house which is super convenient. They had availability to I headed over! I wasn't super impressed when I walked in the door - the space is long and narrow and was very hectic. However, someone came over almost immediately to help me figure out a color - and let's be honest, a busy nail salon is a good sign. I needed help figuring out the right color because I was trying to coordinate with my toes (red) and 3 very different outfits for upcoming events. My nail artist ended up finding the perfect color, but unfortunately she realized it was only in dip (which is an extra $10 or $15). So, she found some other similar colors and ended up layering 2 gel colors to get the absolute perfect color for all my requirements. The final manicure was slightly bumpy up close, but lasted 3 weeks, and looked great overall. Oh, and did I mention they serve free wine? Came here for a pedicure. Booking online for an appointment was super easy. I arrived about 5 minutes early and they took me right away. I picked my color from their wall. Keep in mind they have two wall boards with different brands! Emma, my nail tech was really great. She was gentle but took care of my feet that desperately needed a scrub. They had dividers between seats which I appreciated even if no one else was next to me. They gave a quick hot stone massage during my pedicure that I also really appreciated. Before painting my toes they put on my flip flops (which I wore to the appointment). A nice touch to avoid polish blemishes. Once she finished, she helped me over to the drying area and even offered me a back massage, which I turned down. Overall, I really like this place and I'll definitely be back. read more

I absolutely love this place! I can't imagine going anywhere else. Fishtown Nails Bar is so clean and the ladies who work here are wonderful. They can make any Pinterest image come to life as they have for me many times. The owner is very lovely and I love when she helps pick out my colors-she gets it right every time. Prices are on par with every other place I've been to but the quality of their work is much better. I have been getting my nails done for 30+ years and have finally found the last salon I will ever use. The staff took great care wiping everything down after each client which assured me that they were taking great precautions to keep everyone as safe as could be. This is one of the cleanest salons I've ever been to with the friendliest staff under direction of the owner Aliza. I informed her that I had some sensitivity and since then she has taken great care when doing my nails with no reminder from me. An appointment may take longer than at other salons but I prefer that care that goes into that appointment rather than a rush job that is less than perfect. Anyone who isn't satisfied here?
