    The outside attention grabber.

Went for lunch with my 86 year old father in law. The vibe inside was relaxing. The waitress was super friendly and took excellent care of us. Fried seafood was fresh and portion size was fair at least. Beer was cold. Overall a great 1st time experience for us. Plan to return soon.

The food was great and the prices are reasonable. The decor is not overwhelming and the staff needs to be more attentive. FishTaled is definitely worth a visit.

From the outside, Fish Tales doesn't look like much. In fact, it looked so bad that we waited almost a year after moving to the area to visit. Boy were we wrong! We decided to stop in this week. The food was delicious, and they had a good variety of options at a fair price. We are from Florida, and the restaurant reminded us of the cool themed seafood restaurants we have enjoyed in Cocoa Beach, Clearwater and Orlando. It was nice to experience a restaurant that is not the same old mountain vibe. The Services's excellent as well. We will DEFINITELY be back sooner rather than later. The only suggestion I would have would be to beautify the exterior - add some plants, some fresh paint, maybe a key west style bench or Adirondack chairs.

The floor was sticky as I walked in when I got my food it was cold and also just wasn't good.

It's been a long while since I've eaten at Fish Tales but we thought we would give it a try. This is a seafood/sandwich place in Norton, Virginia a few miles from the ocean. We are hoping this doesn't affect the freshness of the food. We were seated immediately with televisions all around for your sport watching needs. The waitress is very nice and gives us our time to determine what we wanted to eat from the menu. My wife selected the small flounder with home fries and cole slaw with Diet Coke to drink. I selected the large flounder with baked potato and rice, water to drink. The atmosphere is good not too loud at this time. Country radio station playing over the televisions sound. The food, cole slaw best I've had in a while, rice good, baked potato ok been sitting drying out for a little while, the flounder a bit tasteless except for the tarter sauce. I've got to say once you've had Hymans Flounder in Savannah Georgia all others can't compare. Overall good meal, order the cole slaw if you get nothing else. Appears clean

    Supreme platter with flounder.

Was staying in town for a night and decided to try this place. Got the supreme platter with flounder. Food is inexpensive. Fish and large shrimps were pretty good. Everything else was ok.

Great gem along the 23/26 corridor. It's just barely off the highway in a strip mall that doesn't do justice to the restaurant. The atmosphere is appropriately pirate / nautical themed, and comfortable. We had no wait on a 1pm lunch visit while traveling for the holidays. The waitress was very friendly and gave good recommendations when asked. She was knowledgeable about the food and answered our questions easily. They offer some barbecue and other dishes, but we stuck with the seafood. The 2 item platters were large or small for $15/$12. I had a small chicken tender and whitefish platter with home style fries and breaded okra. My wife had the catfish platter with green beans and corn on the cob. Our son had the burger and regular fries. Highlights: The chicken tenders (suggested by the waitress) were amazingly good. Hand breaded and seasoned well. The honey mustard dipping sauce was great - thin and sweet. The catfish was also great. Well seasoned and well cooked. The hush puppies were the best I've had in some time. They are about the size of a grape, and mildly sweet. They were not greasy at all. Regrets: the whitefish was very tough - we thought overcooked, but not burnt, so hard to say. It didn't taste bad, mind you, just tough. The green beans (canned, obviously) were too fibrous to eat. We asked our waitress about home style fries vs regular fries. She said one starts in the kitchen as a potato and the other is frozen in a bag. I suggest the home style fries. My only regret about them is that they're served under the pile of fish/chicken, so they're kind of soggy. The other sides were good, though it can be hard to screw up fried okra from a bag. We travel this route frequently, and I can assure you that we will be back.

The food was okay, the service wasn't great. The Ambiance was amazing! The pricing for the wine is outrageous.

Amazing hush puppies and fried shrimp. One of the seafood platters is enough for two people.

Our waitress was excellent and chicken tenders are a must and honey mustard. And now I've reached the character minimum.

Always a special occasion at this place…read more Group of 4 reservation on Friday at 7 pm. Table with view of river had spectacular view. Excellence is standard here from bar drinks and beers to service and especially the food. Shrimp cocktail coconut shrimp and fried green tomatoes for appetizers, although the ultra fine corn meal hush puppies are highly recommended too. Blackened redfish with special salsa was tender tasty and an unusually rich tasting treat. Mahi Mahi and Chilean sea bass were others chosen and one solo filet mignon. Conversation Slowed to a crawl with few oohs ahhs and you've got to try this statements all thru dinner. Desert was warm carrot cake and chocolate brownie Sunday. Decadent sweet and deliriously great with superb back coffee. Wait staff never left a glass unfilled and was great with recommendations for an unforgettable meal. Next time I'll come earlier to take advantage of the seafood market ( closed at 5 pm) for take home delicacies flown in fresh from everywhere greatest seafood exists. Can't wait til next excuse to go to Kingsport. We didn't scrimp on anything/ the bill was a tad over $ 200 with appetizers desert and entrees. But there were great looking selections on the lesser cost on the menu too. I was looking for a first class dinner experience and was perfectly satisfied. Stuffed and needing a nap after though lol

We walked in for dinner about an hour before closing, so they weren't all that busy. We were shown…read moreto a table along the windows, with an excellent view of the river just outside. It really was quite impressive. Our waitress was friendly but not very present, she'd disappear for large amounts of time and forgot refills a couple of times, but it didn't detract from the meal. I went with the Mahi Mahi entree ($20.99), blackened. I got the loaded potato for my side (+$1) and a side salad. My husband ordered the Stuffed Tilapia ($20.99) and we got the Fried Crab Bites ($14.99) to start. The crab bites and the side salads came out together. The salad was simple but good, kind of reminded me of a school cafeteria side salad in it simplicity. The crab bites were interesting - crispy on the outside, but still a bit...soupy?...on the inside. They were served with a remoulade dipping sauce that added a bit of zest. The main dishes came out pretty quickly, once the appetizer and salad plates were cleared. The mahi piece was smaller than I had expected, which was okay in the sense that I wasn't starving, but surprising in the sense that we were paying $21 for it. Still, it was blackened and flaky, and flavorful. The baked potato was also quite tasty, though I feel like it's hard to mess up a baked potato. My husband's plate was a cheesy, gooey slab of fish, served with two slices of crusty bread. He enjoyed the flavors of the tilapia and appreciated that they didn't skimp on the crab or shrimp meats. We had intended to end the meal with dessert - their specials menu was so intriguing - but by the time we finished our meals, we were stuffed, and it was almost 9 pm, their closing time. We didn't want to be those people making the kitchen stay late, so we packed it in and headed home. One note on the exterior: there were swarms of what we referred to as "midges" - not sure if that's what they truly were, but swarms of tiny bugs that hit you in the face as you were walking and followed you into your car as you were leaving. It was impossible to avoid them. Could have just been the time of year, or day, or maybe it's always like that. Just something to consider.
