Awesome food, great service, and welcoming venue. Our party had the pulled pork, brisket, steak and cheese, and pork rinds. We consumed so fast that I didn't get any food pictures. As a group of foodies, it did not disappoint. We will definitely be returning soon. At the time of this review, the address was not correct. It's across from Westmoreland High School, just a quarter mile from the posted location. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Picking up your order from the counter was perfect, it was quick and the food was fresh. The table-side service they do now is a huge problem. Our food took forever to get to us, and it was cold and soggy. A minor problem that I wanted to point out is what they did to the fries. The famous twister fries are now two separate things, "twisters" and "chips". The only difference is that the "chips" are shorter; the difference is also not specified on the menu. It used to be that you ordered fries, plain and simple, and you would get a mountain of them. Now it's a confusing process to get them and what you end up with is a measly handful of cold and soggy fries. The live music is still great, but everything else just took away the uniqueness and excitement of this place. This place used to be the best burger place ever, very genuine and a local favorite. Now it is just a cheap tourist trap. Will not be coming again. TLDR; the table-side service takes forever and ruins the quality of the food, the menu adjustments are confusing and vague, and the new portion sizes are way smaller.

And since the star of the show is a burger, they did NOT disappoint. I had a classic bacon cheeseburger and enjoyed every last bite of it. In fact, it dork slapped me that I don't go to burger joints enough! If this spot was closer to me, I would definitely return more often. With them I had their fries. They were CLASSIC fries. Very good and perfectly prepared. If it had any downsides it would be that they ration your ketchup portion. With the prices these days I didn't appreciate that. The atmosphere was wide open and clean. Plenty of covered seating outside. And, best - they had plenty of good staff. Always the sign of a great management team. Pro-tip: They have their own parking lot and plenty of street parking around. However, there is a VERY busy intersection right next door which makes is stupendously difficult to leave in some directions. Take that into consideration on your planning: how to get away from the place.

The moment we arrived, it was clear how much excitement this place has already generated -- people were willing to wait in the cold just to get inside. And once you step in, you understand why. The decor is stunning. Guests immediately started taking photos of the walls and ordering area, and I did too. The space is vibrant, modern but with a throwback feel, and it sets the tone before you even place your order. Now, the burgers. Incredibly tasty. Perfectly smashed, full of flavor, and cooked just right. You can tell a lot of care went into crafting the menu, and the limited opening‑day selection was a smart move, it kept the line moving and made decisions easy. The atmosphere was another highlight. At one point, a to‑go customer ended up sitting with others when the place filled up, and it sparked a friendly conversation between a loyal customer from the previous location and someone brand new. That kind of organic community moment says a lot about the environment Smash House is creating. Overall experience was deliciously good. Would recommend.

I ordered the OG Smash burger with double patty and made it a combo to add on the fries and a drink. Everything tasted good, but the burger did come out a bit greasy. That's expected though with a smash burger or any burger honestly. The smash sauce on the burger tasted very similar to spicy mayo and the fries were nicely crispy. The fountain drink options included Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Lemonade, Mr. Pibb, etc. I was told this was their new location and the interior looked nice. However, when the restaurant got busy, it felt very cramped given their setup. There was a good amount of seating, however not much room to wait for your order without feeling like you are standing in the way when all seats were taken. The drink station was also all the way in the back and becomes a one way path when it gets busy. The path to get from placing your order at the cashier up at the front, to the drink area in the back, got slim when busy since people were sitting at the tables and the bar. Although my first time here was a bit overwhelming given how busy it was, this place was a great option to get your smash burger fix! They also have other options including hot dogs, chopped cheese, tacos, etc. so there's something for everyone! I enjoy supporting local businesses and I'll definitely be back to try some of their other menu items!

The food came very quickly and the service was wonderful. Angelo's has a large variety of American, Italian, and Greek food. We got spaghetti ($9), a gyro ($12.75), and an iced cream brownie sundae ($6). The spaghetti was perfectly portioned for one person and came with meat sauce and garlic bread. Delicious! The gyro was also a nice size and served with chips. The tzatziki sauce and feta blended so well with the crisp lettuce and hot gyro meat. The melty brownie also paired well with the iced cream. The only thing I'm not a fan of is their water. Highly recommend if you're passing through the Northern Neck!

Parking is crazy, be prepared. Cheese fries with bacon, they were soggy with all the cheese on top. One order was sent back. The sauce that the lobster was tossed in was so watery that it completely soaked the roll and it became a flat piece of wet dough that you could not even pick up. It was disgusting. I had to go ask a fork just so I could eat the lobster without the roll. Anyone who has had lobster rolls before understand that the role is very important and it should not be flat mushy and wet. When I went to get the fork, I was asked why I needed a fork for the lobster roll and I told them that the role was ruined and wet and I couldn't even pick it up. I was then told that the next time I ordered a lobster roll I should get the one with the butter. I was then informed that I must not have been aware of what I was ordering and that's why it wasn't what I expected. I informed them that I was very aware of what I was ordering because I used to own a seafood restaurant and market and that what was served to me was unacceptable. I won't be getting lobster rolls there again, but I will go back for a burger.

They had a list of "complete" meals which are 3 course options from $15-20. One con: after ordering the ribeye steak, the waiter said the price on that had gone up and they hadn't updated the menu. It was annoying, but it was only a couple of bucks. For the appetizers, I had the crab cake and my boyfriend had the shrimp scampi (3 shrimps.) Both were really good. They were small but both tasty and nice to have a little app that isn't a salad. The crab cake came with lemon and tartar sauce to accompany. The meal also came with break sticks which were decent and butter with a nice crunch. I got the grilled fish (rock fish) and shrimp combination with potato and vegetable. The shrimp here was also tasty and a nice amount on a skewer. The fish was large and surprisingly flavorful. The mashed potatoes were fine, the peas seemed straight out of a can, but it came with a hush puppy that was slightly sweet and a slice of watermelon. Some highs and lows but overall a solid meal. The ribeye was cooked well and an acceptable cut. It came with one onion ring which was odd but a nice little addition. The dessert selection was limited but we shared the caramel ice cream (came with whipped cream/cherry/chocolate sauce to make it a little more fancy) and chocolate mousse pie (same toppings.) Nothing fancy, but like the appetizer, a nice little way to end the meal. Soda didn't have free refills, which was the only other downside. Even though the restaurant was small, it still had a nice bathroom. The waiter was really friendly. Since we were taking our chances finding a restaurant in the area, it was actually a pretty nice experience.

The restaurant has a pretty low/relaxed vibe. So low/relaxed that I thought the two people at a dining table who let me know that the porch was open for service were customers. Oh! The paper place settings have little tidbits on Virginian trivia and history. For our dining enjoyment, we went with a couple of orders of burgers. I thought my burger was pretty tasty, especially with the restaurant's special BBQ sauce. Also, I thought the portion sizes were pretty generous for the price. The only very minor issue (as of March 2026) was that the restaurant did not have its liquor license, so we could not order a round of beers go accompany our burgers. Other than that small detail, we had no problem with the restaurant. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that service was pretty good, and the prices were pretty reasonable.

From the moment you walk in, you can tell this is a place meant for slowing down. You can sit, relax, and never feel rushed. Every single person who works here is wonderful, and the owner is an absolute hoot. She's a ball of personality in the best way possible, and it genuinely adds to the charm and warmth of the place. You can feel the care that goes into everything they do, especially the food. So much is made from scratch from the biscuits to the sweet treats and it truly shows in the quality. The layout of the café is also really well thought out. When you first walk in, there's a seating area up front, and then another space in the back that feels like the main gathering area. As the weather warms up, the front area opens up and gives you that airy, open feeling and honestly, there's nothing quite like enjoying seafood by the water. Families are clearly welcomed here, which I really appreciate. The front area has a few toys for kids, like oversized Connect Four, and the bathroom is spotless. It even has a changing table, and right outside the bathroom there are coloring books and crayons neatly set up such a thoughtful touch. I also have to give major credit for the seasonal décor. When they decorate, they truly go all out, and it makes each visit feel special and festive. On top of all that, the pricing is very reasonable, and the food is consistently excellent. I've loved everything I've tried from something as simple as a peanut butter and jelly to the seafood platter. This place has heart, personality, and amazing food. I can't recommend it enough.
