Interesting grocery store in Vernon with nice staff and a good selection of produce and products…read more On a recent trip to Vernon we stopped in at Butcher Boys a few times for groceries. They've got a large store with almost everything you can think of - from fruit and veg to marshmallows, refreshments to seasonal items, candles to couscous! We appreciated how happy the staff were to serve us no matter how large or small our purchase happened to be. Prices are more than you may expect from larger chains(superstore or Walmart for instance) but not super expensive all things considered. Would happily return on our next trip.

The restaurant is a causal yet trendy counter food service where you order the food first at the stall and find your own seat among the beautiful outdoor dining area they have. We ordered a spread of seafood dishes and was beyond impressed with every dish! The seacuterie board is such a creative seafood board filled with a great selection of smoked fish, cod ceviche, spot prawns, pickled veggies and house made rice crackers with squid ink. The SoBo's Pockets was a nice light appy with your choice of filling of shiitake mushrooms or BC Salmon. The Miso Lingcod Rice bowl was a favourite for everyone at the table. It was so beautifully presented and there was so much bold Asian inspired flavours and ingredients we just it loved so much! This has been the closest to a true vacation dining experience for me for a very long time! It was such a relaxing (aside from swapping away some wasp and flies who were also very appealed to our food too - but that's nature) and tasty experience! I can't believe this small little island has so much to offer!

The menu changes throughout the year so check their website for the latest menu. We shared a few dishes including the lingcod bowl, inari pockets, and seacuterie (seafood charcuterie) plate. The seacuterie plate had a spot prawns, smoked fish, ceviche, pickled vegetables and nori. I enjoyed most of this dish although I felt the salmon was a bit over spiced with dill. The inari pockets were filled with mushrooms and veggies, very fresh and tasty appetizer. My favourite was the lingcod bowl, which comes on a bed of rice and veggies including mushrooms. Great asian flavours and tender lingcod!

Everyone was friendly and the vibe was so fun and chill. We were all so hungry and the menu was perfectly set up for everyone to enjoy, including a vegan in our party. The tacos were very small street style tacos and they were all exceptional. They also have nachos, enchiladas, Baja style flour tortilla seafood tacos, and more. The beef, chicken, and pork tacos were deeply flavorful and you have the option to add 1 of 3 different salsas, each increasing in spiciness. The chips, salsa, guacamole, and bean dip were also a hit with the table. We almost went 2 nights in a row! The drinks were inventive and playful with an obvious focus on agave spirits and offered local beers. To make it even more fun, there's a restored 5 pin bowling alley in the back of the restaurant where you can also order from a limited menu of food and drinks to enjoy at you lane with your group. Plus they have a bowling HH on weekdays from 11-3 (50% off).
