It's doing well in my tank and slowly getting healthier :) the javaferns at Nolan's were tiny and even in worst condition lol so I think I still got a good plant. Staff is super knowledgeable on plants and fish. I like how much staff they have, you never have to wait for help there's always someone that is around. Btw the owner is super nice and sweet! She said new inventory every fridays - I came on Friday and they actually had SO many more plants. So it's best to come Friday I guess so there's a bigger selection to chose from :) Btw: My water lettuce all rotted and melted in my tank. Idk what happened !!! I was here on friday 12/12/25, I was looking at a pleco fish and the mango pleco caught my eye, but wanted to sleep on it, decided to come by Sunday 12/14/25 and I saw the place boarded up/caution tape. So sad to see that there was a fire today, from the look of it, it looks pretty burn/charred up inside. RIP to the many beautiful fishes who burn in the fire, I do hope and pray some of the fishes survived, and I hope Tong's rebound/ rebuild/ reOPEN in the future.

I told him i would pick up from San Diego (more than 100 miles of driving each way!!!) I did not pay yet and asked to change my CPDs to 3 otos. I told him i would like 6 habrosas, at least. When i drove up to santa ana (the next day), with an invoice of 6 habrosas there were only 4 in stock. I understand that Corys prefer larger groups. Had it been disclosed ahead of time that there were only 4 corys, i would not have driven up from SD to Santa ana and the INVOICE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CANCELLED BY THE SELLER If there is not enough stock. There were not even enough otos as i requested. -This wastes my 3 hours of round trip driving (100+ miles) and gas to be short changed. ----------------- -i will have to report this to the BBB as well. -after speaking directly with Nolan, i will wait for his business to rectify this situation before i take additional actions. --------------- Edit on 12/2 after seller's response below: 1. 85 miles or 100 is an approximate. It is a trivial point given that it is a long distance drive from sd to santa ana. The crux of the matter is that you sold me 4 cories when you knew ahead of time i wanted 6. I acknowledge you are closed on Wednesday. You had employees in the shop anyway on Wednesday--they said they had to come in anyway to feed the fish for the long weekend whether i came or not. 2. The invoice i received is an automated email invoice. I can email it to you like. It has 6 cories written on it, not 4. And to your reply i am not looking for other cories, iam looking for the habrosas. 3. You knew i was there to pick up six (that is why the invoice that you personally emailed me stated 6 habrosas, which you wanted me to pay). So Eiither you or your employees did not take stock before you emailed me an invoice or you knew ahead of time that you did NOT have 6 and tried to sell me what you have. 4. The 4 habrosas and the oto cats have SEVERE red gills when they were pre-packed in bags upon my arrival. Either this is due high ammonia or red gills disease. I regret buying them. 5. A local fish store in san diego says it is bacterial and recommends medicine treatment. Since the day i picked them up They have been in medicinal treatment and it is nearly a week where the red gills have been present even with daily water changes and 0 ammonia.. I never had this experience with other local fish stores. 6 aside, i have received unsolicited yelp correspondence from your employee. Note i was courteous with your employees. They did not need to initiate any involvement in yelp which was not appreciated. 7. The only correspondence was that you would send 2 cories free of charge on monday and i would not take further action until we resolve this problem. 8. Please do not send the 2 cories, i am wary of the quality of care from your shop given the state of the cories and oto cats. Going forward I will not be ordering from this "guppy mill". And i will report this to the bbb and to other social media sites

BTW, this is a very impressive website. But was what even more impressive was our visit to the store. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome from Eddie. He was informative and passionate about the fish that were in his care. Not only did he help us select a healthy beautiful fish, he went so far as to give us some additional instructions on a handwritten note on how to acclimate our new pet to his new home and how to look for sings of stress. Our drive was about an hour away, so Eddie made sure he packed the fish well and even placed an ice pack in a box to ensure the fish did not over heat as we were in the midst of a heat wave that week. We even discussed feeding, filtration, plants, water quality & treatments. His customer service was full circle. Two weeks after bringing home "Sherman" We were ready to set up a larger 55 gallon tank for both our original fish and our new fish. We were feeling a little out of our comfort zone, so we reached out to Eddie again. Not only did he remember us, he took the time to review the key steps of setting up the larger tank as well as the steps needed to transfer both fish into their new forever home. Once again, Eddie offed key information on how to get the tank ready before the transfer. Once again, he extended the invitation to call him if we need more help when we are ready to add both fish to the new tank. His information was clear and concise which was very much appreciated. The reason their…read moreprices are lower compared to their competitors is that they do not quarantine their fish so you are at high risk of introducing fish that come with parasites from the wild or will cause Ick outbreaks in your tank due to the fish being stressed and their immune system being suppressed. I have setup a quarantine system and I quarantine every single fish I buy from them for a minimum of 2 weeks unless I see symptoms of parasites or illnesses in which case I will follow a strict quarantine regiment. Using this approach, I have successfully introduced several marine Angelfish into my system who were significantly cheaper than the competition. Emperor Angel ~ $130 Flagfin Angel ~ $100 Koran Angle ~ $95 Regal Angel ~ $110 I asked them to order me a Majestic Angel to complete my collection that also includes a Queen, Blue, French and Black Angel.

(Freshwater too!) If interested heres a little story... If not, just take my word for it and shop here. - This week I decided to relocated my reef tank for a better view in the house... biggest mistake ever! Everything that could've gone wrong, went wrong. I underestimated the weight of the tank thinking I could just get by with 90% of the water drained and removal of the sump and equipment, I was definitely wrong! I ended up pulling out everything, but the sand. Every coral, every invert, every fish... yes including 4 wrasses and a goby that all like to hide in the sand bed, I mean EVERYTHING! I then accidentally broke my rock structure into several pieces in the process of lifting them out of the tank and putting them into bins. Trying not to lose too much temp, I moved as fast as I could and used as many spare heaters as possible. It was a total disaster! After glueing back all the rock work that broke into pieces and moving everything back into the tank, I was unsure of how my fishes and corals would react to this sudden change in temp, biology and chemistry. 4 hours later, I finally got the tank running again (in it's new location,) I then noticed a huge bacterial bloom, Im guessing from the stirring of the sand bed. I then decided to do a water change to see if it would help. To add to my streak of badluck, I had no saltwater prepped. I quickly rushed to Age of Aquariums to get saltwater. That's where I was greeted by Isaac. He knew something was wrong. All I said was "I decided to move my tank" he already knew where I was going. I told him my problems and concerns and hesitancy to move my livestock back into the tank. He recommended several products to me, answered a bunch of questions I had and gave me solid advice. He also allowed me to borrow several containers for saltwater as long as i promised to bring them back. I am truly grateful. 2 days later, my tank is bouncing back. I had 0 losses. Fishes are happy and corals are all starting to open up again. Im leaving this review to share my experience with those new to the hobby, getting into the hobby and those who have been in the hobby for a long time. You can always get cheaper products elsewhere, especially online... but, you will never get the support of a local fish store. Support you LFS, like they support us.
