My love affair with Fish 'N' Chick'N begins with the fact that it has appropriately placed its apostrophes in its name. (I'm the kind of person who would boycott an establishment for an improperly placed apostrophe, you see.)
Moving on from the grammatical love, Fish 'N' Chick'N is a little hit and miss. When it's miss, it's still good. But when it's hit, it's of the 'I could die a happy woman with a stomach full of fried deliciousness right now' variety.
This establishment is an institution in Witham and operates on a take-away only basis. You often see people huddled around outside consuming chips from the paper, regardless of the weather.
One time, after a long day of shopping at Ikea, Robert D and I made our way to the chip shop at 9pm, not expecting much because of the late hour. But, I have to say, that night I ate what can only be described as the fried fish of destiny. It was as if the heavens smiled down on me and the baby Jesus served me up the chips himself.
On more recent visits, I've discovered that this chip shop has no qualms serving me a children's meal, which, if I'm honest, contains only a little bit less food as a regular small fish and chips but at a significantly lower price.
