My family and I were long-time patients who came in for regular checkups and additional visits, yet multiple small cavities were completely missed. Those same cavities have now progressed into large, invasive procedures that could have been avoided with proper care and attention. What's even more frustrating is the lack of accountability. We have called repeatedly to ask how these issues were missed while we were actively being seen, and no one will return our calls or provide an explanation. This is, without question, the worst dental experience I've ever had. Between missed diagnoses, poor communication, and unprofessional management, I would strongly caution others to avoid this practice and look elsewhere for competent, reliable dental care.

I am keeping my 5-star review for my first official visit as it was great…read more 7:00 AM appointment and I was surprised to enter a pretty full parking lot. I went in and sat in an also full waiting room. Just there a couple of minutes when one of the staff started calling names to confirm who was there. Right after they started calling people back to their appointments. I was the last one to arrive but I got called back as well. Hayley was my Hygienist and she led me to one of the rooms to get going. She asked a few questions and made notes in my chart, she was super friendly and we got to know each other a little as my appointment went on. Since it was my first official visit and cleaning, I needed a full round of x-rays, something I dread at the dentist office. It was pain free and quick so amazing! The whole process was easy and pleasant. The office is super nice and all of the staff are so personable. When Dr. Welker came in and reviewed everything with me, he took his time, didn't seem rushed, and answered all my questions. When I was done, I got a review of the plan of action for my issues with a cost break down and all information printed for me to take with me. This practice is family focused and it shows in all the things they do. I am really glad I was directed here when I decided to change dentists,

I recommend them so much that my entire family now goes there too. From the friendly front desk crew to the hygienist, assistants, and dentists, everyone there is ridiculously nice. They've somehow made going to the dentist (a phrase that usually strikes fear into people everywhere) actually enjoyable. For the first time in my 40 years, I don't get nervous walking into a dental office. In fact, if insurance would cover it, I'd be getting my teeth cleaned once a month just for fun.

We recently moved to Pevely, so based on the proximity to our home and the great Yelp review Pevely…read moreFamily Dentistry already had- we wanted to give them a shot. Sadly, our experience was not good. After several unreturned voice messages to the business, I was able to contact a receptionist by the name of Joyce, a friendly person. Joyce sounded sincere and helped us to figure out our insurance was out of network and after 2-3 reminders (phone and office pop-in's), Joyce did email me their services pricing so we could calculate our out of pocket costs for prophylaxis services. Our experience is that while the front end is friendly, consistent contact was problematic for prospective patients. I'd previously shared with Joyce my dissatisfaction with Aspen Dental's (who is In-Network) mandatory X-Ray policy, as the radiation impacts my health negative. Joyce indicated that it was a shame and that it was better we did not go to them. So, today it was surprising to me, when I managed to get an appointment for a basic cleaning and physical exam, just to get a call from Joyce canceling the appointment. According to Joyce, the dentist (Blake Besancene() refused to provide a basic exam and cleaning, unless I also purchased X-Rays- even though I have no tooth complaints. I again explained apart from the financial "out of pocket" burden, my own reluctance for radiation is for health reasons, and I offered that if an issue later arose when radiation was necessary for diagnostic purposes, I'd certainly agree to the encumbrance. I also asked to speak to the dentist himself so I might explain my reservations myself, but was told the dentist, Blake Besancenez was a very busy man until late 2025, which felt very disingenuous as I had a 3:00PM appointment for that very afternoon. I really, really wanted to join my fellow Yelper in giving these folks a great 5 Star review for awesome customer service... but sadly, as is so common these days- at Pevely Family Dentistry it's not about Family in our experience. It's certainly not about the customer's comfort, health, nor even a worry about their incurred financial burden with mandated and unnecessary services; ultimately it's about their own way or it's the highway. I did not feel cared for at all and truly it bums me out especially going into the Christmas week. It is of note that Charles Hurley (the presently listed dentist for this business) no longer owns this dentistry, and has sold it approximately 4 years ago. Blake Besancenez did me the courtesy of a phone call and listened to my explanation, though still insisted no dental services would be better for me than to just provide a cleaning, as this was his "own rule" as having full operational control. I cannot express deeply enough my disappointment in this man.
