I booked here way in advance for our early September trip, we were seated on the open air balcony with Newquay marina as the back drop. It seemed a little chilly to be seated outside at this time of year, but lo and behold they already thought it out with plastic covers at both sides of the balcony and heaters right at every dining tables. Not only did it create a cozy ambiance but made it warm and comfortable as well. We started our dinner with salt and pepper calamari to share with a glass of Rose and I then ordered Brown crab with salad and fries on the side, while my partner ordered grilled pollock. The dishes were undoubtedly fresh and came out in timely fashion. It is beauty about traveling, discovering new places and truly enjoying it. This experience was made even more awesome due to the hospitality and great customer service from the staff. A must try if you happen to be in Newquay!

Very noisy and some loud buzzing sound coming from the kitchen. Music is on loud trying to cover the noise.. Not working lol. They had surf and turf. Surf was ok.. Turf was undercooked and no flavor. I had fish and chips. Big piece of fish and large chunks of chips. Will say I didn't try the peas. Fish was ok, flavorless batter tho. Our young server didn't seem like she wanted to wait on us, but figure that's because we are Americans. She only came to check on us once. Younger man was very friendly.

The interior again reflected a typical country pub beams, open fire, a good range of tables and a friendly atmosphere. Locals and visitors mingled easily and the bar had a fantastic range of beers, wines and spirits. The staff were friendly and inviting, and the Red Lion had numerous events including quizzes, steak nights (£10 for a steak/catch of the day + dessert) and supper evenings. This weeks was an Aussie Christmas in July! a seafood barbecue, unfortunately it was fully booked. Food wise, a good range of steaks, burgers and curries, as well as other interesting dishes like Randang Malaysian curry and catch of the day (Hake with a potato salad). Settling on an Italiano Burger, it arrived as is the fashion currently on a wooden board, with thin crispy fries, homemade coleslaw, parmesan dressed salad, to compliment the Aberdeen Angus Burger, which was topped with Parma Ham and green pesto. A superb meal, as was my wife's sausages with seasoned mash, in a rich onion gravy, with seasonal vegetables, as a side dish. A dessert is almost compulsory, again two cracking dishes strawberry creme brulee and a iced lemon tart, that tasted like a giant sherbert lemon! Finished with a good cup of strong coffee, this was a meal to remember! The Red Lion also serves takeaway curries and burgers, and had Doom Bar on draft, now that's my type of pub!

The farm shop leads you to the restaurant and is stacked with local produce - meat, fish, confectionery and fresh fruit and vegetables brought in every morning, to name but a few. Not too pricey either, which is a refreshing change from most farm shops. The restaurant itself is mostly situated in a light and spacious conservatory area. Popular all day with familes, couples and retired couples, the Trevathan is a popular restaurant. They serve the biggest cakes I have ever seen, some triple or even quadrupled layered - coffee and chocolate cake amongst others. A good selection of breakfasts, snacks and lunches too. The cooked breakfast was both tasty and filling. Theres outside seating too, but unfortunately on every day we visited it was bucketing down with rain! Trevathan is also a place where you can pick your own strawberries, gooseberries and raspberries. There's even some motorised tractors and a digger for the children. A great place for families.
