I usually am quite satisfied with the service here. Usually quite friendly too. Unfortunately, we had a rather bad experience last Friday night. My cousin ordered three lemon pepper grilled barramundi along with two crumbed barramundi and some chips. He ordered it on the phone, and fair enough the phone can be a hard way to order, but I heard him repeat the order three times and then he said the lady reread the order back to him and it sounded correct. When we picked up the order, the guy read out the order, and no fault on him but he read it out kind of fast but it sounded about right, and being that they were busy and it was noisy and that the service we had received in the past had been good, we went on our way. When we got home (we should have checked at the store, our mistake) there were no grilled fish. Instead we were given three battered fish and there was nothing lemon pepper about them. So we rang and asked could we possibly bring them back and get the grilled fish we had ordered. The man on the phone was nice and said that would be ok. When my cousin and husband brought the order back, the guy said just keep what you have we will give you the grilled fish (which was above and beyond very kind), however the lady (which I assume mucked the phone order up to begin with) said no don't keep it give it back. That is ok, it's their decision after all and letting us keep the mucked up order was an unexpected kindness. But when she handed us our "new lemon pepper grilled fish" is when the whole experience left a very bitter taste in my mouth. (I asked the boys to please check the order before bringing it home, and I'm sad to say they didn't) When the boys got home with the order we opened the "grilled fish" and realised why the lady was so insistent on getting our order back. The "grilled lemon pepper fish" was in fact our old battered fish that had just had the batter peeled off (as we could still see the old bits of batter that had been left behind and bits of flour) and there was no lemon pepper to be found.
I understand orders can get messed up, and some nights can be hectic. But what does disappoint me is that we were very obviously given what we did not order and I strongly feel that how we were treat was deceitful. And this was despite us being very friendly and understanding about the whole thing. If this conduct is acceptable at the Fish Depot I do not want to waste my dining experience there. read more
