So good! My husband and I both had fish sandwiches, fries, slaw, and a cup of chowder. My only complaint, if you'd call it a complaint, is that the bacon flavor in the chowder was more pronounced than fish flavor - still VERY good!!! Will definately be back! read more

In my humble opinion this is the best fish and chips in Maine. Small storefront with a limited menu but what they do they do so well. If you can eat there, you'll be rewarded with crispiest freshest fish ever. If you take out eat as soon as you can. Haven't had anything else here but the clam chowder looked really good too. Saw the good reviews and decided to give this new restaurant a try. It was actually pretty busy and only 30 minutes until closing. No problem for them. They courteously took our order and the food was out quickly and we never felt rushed. We both had the fish and chips, and it was delicious. The fish was very fresh and the breading was very light (I hate a ton of crust). The fries were also good. The slaw was just ok, but I think it was just a little different style than I was used to. As a Biddeford native, I was SO HOPEFUL to love this place. I came in for Biddeford Restaurant Week and got a half-order of fish and chips and the fried diver scallops. Both were extremely greasy (stomach aches all around), had too much batter. I wish I'd taken a photo but the scallops looked like UFO ships there was WAY too much batter and little flavor. Plus they forgot the 2 free ice creams advertised as a special for restaurant week. The best part were the fries and curry dip. We were extremely disappointed and based on the rave reviews are hoping it was just a bad day. However, we won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

We eat at Fish & Whistle 1-2 times every month. We have had great food and friendly service every time! The fish is locally sourced from sustainable fisheries. The milk buns, used for any of the sandwiches, are baked in house and are AMAZINGLY good. It is fun to sit at the bar and watch all of the food being prepared. Only had the chicken sandwich, but it was delicious. I'm a huge fried chicken addict and this stands up w any of the sandos. Nice fish style breading, perfect tangy slaw w buttery grilled roll and pickles. Partner had the fish and chips, high grades for the fish, chips were mediocre. I don't get the hype. We found it to be overpriced and nothing special. Our fish and chips was heavy on the breading. It was a fluffy breading but there were many bites where I got breading only. Found the portion to be overpriced for what you get. The chicken sandwich barely had any chicken on it. Root beer was more ice than root beer. I would state that this is similar to food truck food but not the best food truck on the block. Everyone seems to love this place so maybe we ordered wrong. We won't be back. read more

I really enjoyed the way the restaurant was decorated. I really enjoyed the menu and the way that it was presented. I like how the atmosphere is laid-back and not very judgmental. Additionally the food is something you would only get it from a very talented person. The fish, french fries, the salad everything was excellent. The only thing I would caution you against is the coleslaw. It is very much tasting of celery seed. Not that it's bad. I don't like celery seed but but maybe others do. It was a really great place. I stopped in today with my daughter who knows the menu well, so she made some recommendations. Everything we had was amazing. Fish chowder, fish-n-chips & the green goddess salad. We also had dessert which I believe was a melon (flan) topped with figs. I have never cared for melon but I finished every last bite. We have a winner here folks! The large portion of fish was moist with an incredible crisp but light fried coating! This is the new standard for fish and chips -- crispy, delicious beer battered fish paired with fresh, homemade tartar sauce, hand cut fries and a big lemon wedge was amazing.
