Tyrone - Las Vegas We noticed some prior tenant damage on the baseboards in our house. I wanted to give a big shout out to Tyrone. He goes above and beyond when it comes to maintenance and customer service. He cleaned and chemically treated the wall and replaced the baseboard in our bedroom. Thank you, Tyrone!

I have been renting from Firstkey for 3 years. I've had a number of struggles but the worst is that they let it rain in my house for 3 months before even attempting a repair, it's still not fixed, and now they're trying to scam me out of my money. Details below. So it was RAINING IN MY HOUSE (a serious condition they were required to address quickly per our lease). I withheld rent to get their attention, as no one was responding otherwise and it had been two weeks with no action and canceled appointments. All my calls kept getting sent overseas and the call centers in India will not even provide you with a phone number for a local office, and you can't find it anywhere online. Eventually, someone contacted me once they were inconvenienced by my lack of payment, and I explained that if I am paying to live somewhere, the dwelling must be safe and our belongings protected. They agreed in principle, said they'd make a note of it, and promised progress eventually. Despite numerous conversations, they didn't fix the roof--instead, they issued an eviction. Unaware of the legal nuances at the time, I quickly paid everything current to avoid further issues. Then they told me I owed an extra $906 for an eviction that shouldn't have happened. It took THREE MONTHS before someone came to "fix" the roof, and I didn't even know it was done because their contractor never responded. I disputed the $906 eviction fee. They claimed it was because I hadn't sent a certified letter about withholding rent, even though we'd had DOZENS of phone calls in that time discussing the matter. (Lesson: send a certified letter 7 days prior to withholding rent and consider depositing the funds with the court. Hope that helps, folks!) Despite their breach of the lease by allowing the roof to profusely leak for 3 months, they still pursued that charge and lumped it into my rent, making it unavoidable. The property manager, Jessica Sierra (or Ciera?), said she couldn't remove the eviction fee but could request an inconvenience credit for the unusable room. Because reaching them took over a week and the fees were lumped in with rent--risking a late payment--she said not to worry about a late fee while she checked with management. Later, Iman Johnson from the Orlando office approved a $300 inconvenience credit--insultingly low but I wanted it to be over so I countered with $400, and she called me back the next day saying "Good news, we were able to get the $400 inconvenience credit approved" and I thanked her. When I went to pay, nothing had been removed from my bill. I contacted Iman about the $400 credit we agreed on and the $100 late fee Jessica promised to waive. Suddenly, the $400 credit also included the $100 late fee, though that was never once mentioned. It was a bait-and-switch. I told Jessica I wouldn't pay the extra $100, as I was promised both the $400 credit and a waived late fee, and they were represented as totally separate items in separate calls, and I wouldn't have been late at all if it wasn't for Jessica telling me she needed time after ignoring me for over a week. She said she'd review the call recordings and get back to me--two weeks later, still nothing. Director Maribel Stout also promised to follow up after reviewing the calls but never did. Meanwhile, rent is due again, and despite my daily emails and calls asking for resolution, no one responds. Worse yet, the roof still isn't fixed! It now leaks enough to create condensation and soak the floor after rain. My laptop, left open on my desk, was damaged because the leak continues and it's stuck in a power cycle loop-- silly me to think I could leave that there. I'll be taking it to Apple to have their team confirm the cause of the issue. This saga began 2/15 and continues today, 5/28, with no resolution and no management contact. They actually have since removed all credits from my account and left the $906 charge, will not respond, and have issued another eviction because I won't pay the unnecessary fees and refuse to let them continue to gaslight me that this is normal. It's not. And it wouldn't hold up in court when presented with all of the plentiful instances of negligence I've documented. I rarely leave bad reviews, but they earned this one. I hate stress and conflict, and I just want this resolved. I hope someone will be fair with me before my rent is due in three days. I'll update as necessary.

As a company, they're horrible. Just like other reviews, we've had issues getting through to maintenance for repairs and our ceiling has been looking like it was about to fall through. 2 no shows for scheduled maintenance repairs and finally Tyler was scheduled for us and he showed up. He did a fantastic job, was very quick, respectful and professional. 5 stars for him. Thank you so much for all your help, Tyler!!!

I am writing to express my outrage and utter disappointment with the inexcusable neglect, unsafe living conditions, and lack of accountability that my family and I endured while residing at the Lithia Springs location. The level of disregard for tenant safety, health, and basic human decency exhibited by FirstKey Homes is beyond unacceptable -- it is unconscionable. From June 2025 onward, this home deteriorated into a dangerous and unlivable environment. The kitchen sink was ripped out in July and left discarded in the yard, leaving us without a functioning kitchen for months. The floors were torn up and never repaired, leaving open, uneven, and filthy areas that became breeding grounds for mold. The air inside the house became heavy and toxic, causing my elderly parents to struggle for breath. In February 2025, I reported a water bill exceeding $1,000 -- a clear sign of a serious plumbing issue. For months, I pleaded for help. Only after constant follow-ups did a contractor finally investigate and find a burst pipe under the house that had been leaking for nearly three months. The delay caused massive water damage and worsened the mold problem. Your management team repeatedly failed to act with urgency or responsibility. I submitted multiple maintenance requests, received random and inconsistent calls, and was repeatedly told that a vendor would contact me -- yet no one ever showed up. Even when provided a vendor's number, my calls went unanswered. Each promise of resolution was empty, and each day we remained in that house, our health deteriorated further. Under Georgia Code §44-7-13, a landlord is required to maintain safe and habitable living conditions. FirstKey Homes failed this obligation completely. The conditions we endured were unsafe, unsanitary, and psychologically damaging. This experience has caused me tremendous mental and emotional distress. I am a medical professional -- a doctor -- and I have been unable to work due to the toll this situation has taken on my mental health. The constant anxiety of living in a contaminated, collapsing home while caring for elderly parents in declining health was overwhelming and cruel. No family should ever have to live like that. We have since vacated the property, as remaining there was not an option. I am demanding formal acknowledgment of the harm this negligence caused, both physically and mentally, clear release from lease with no penalty, and a written response from your office and corporate leadership outlining what actions will be taken to correct this gross failure. Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress (NIED) -- When a landlord's failure to maintain safe, habitable conditions causes serious mental suffering (anxiety, depression, lost work, etc.). Premises Liability / Landlord Negligence -- Under Georgia law, landlords must keep rental properties in repair and safe for tenants. Breach of Implied Warranty of Habitability (or similar doctrine) -- While Georgia does not formally codify this in all cases, courts recognise a landlord's duty to maintain a dwelling fit for habitation, and neglect of that duty may open liability including for emotional and physical damages.

Tyrone did great. He answered all my questions and repaired my door with no issues. I am completely satisfied with his services today.

1 star. This was one of the worst rental experiences my family has had. The main problem with FirstKey Homes was not just that things broke. The real problem was the combination of broken home systems, very slow repair response, and charges that felt unfair and excessive. The water heater failed during December, in cold weather, and my family had to live without proper hot water for about a month. We bought electric kettles to heat water for bathing and sometimes had to go to hotels or the gym just to shower. That should never happen in a professionally managed rental. The sink drain pipe then broke, and instead of getting repaired promptly, that situation dragged on for around three months. Water spread onto the kitchen floor while multiple repair teams came to inspect the problem and left without fixing it. To make matters worse, parts of the area were opened up during inspection and not properly restored right away. The problem ended up being handled by me and a family member rather than by the company that was supposed to maintain the home. The refrigerator and kitchen hood also had problems. In one case, two technicians showed up for the same repair request at the same time, and I was later charged in connection with that visit. That was deeply frustrating. There was also rotted damage around the frame/door area that allowed rainwater to come into the house. That repair still took around two weeks. The garbage disposal issue was one of the clearest examples of why this experience felt so unfair. The disposal was old and no longer working. After a delay, a technician came out, and then FirstKey Homes tried to rely on photos of ordinary food residue from that day to blame me and charge me $150. From my perspective, that was not a credible explanation for why an outdated disposal unit had failed. What I experienced with FirstKey Homes was a repeated pattern of delay, inconvenience, weak communication, and billing practices that seemed to favor the company at the tenant's expense. It created constant stress and made it difficult to trust that maintenance issues would be handled fairly. I would not recommend FirstKey Homes to anyone looking for a reliable rental experience.

I lived in a house rented out by First Key in AZ and to be honest, the one star is far too generous. If I could give zero stars or negative stars, I would. From the beginning we had problems with pests like mice, spiders, bees, roaches. When we called, they basically just said "you do it". We also moved in with a dead tree. We assumed it was just bare because we moved in during November, but nope. Summer came and it was very obviously dead and they would NOT do anything about it because "landscaping is your responsibility" (except according to the contract it's not so lol) We also had several pipes explode during the winter, one of which caused leaks in our laundry room. They were excruciatingly slow in sending someone out to fix it, and by the time they did, we had to keep the leak under control with a BUCKET. Weeks people. Weeks. The worst thing of all is that during the summer (bear in mind that this is Arizona and summer can get well above 120° F), our air conditioning unit BLEW A PIECE UP. The guy who came out to examine it straight up said that it was due to the heat, and yet when we contacted First Key, they hired the shadiest mechanics to come by to fix it and tried to charge us $1300 for the part. Not only that, they said it would take four business days to approve a part that they already had. We had to move out all of us and our pets to different locations so none of them would DIE, and bear in mind, it happened on a Thursday, so after all was said and done, they didn't do ANYTHING on the weekend, and it was a WEEK of intense heat before they did anything, and these CROOKS still tried to charge us by saying it was our fault the part failed because of the air filters?? (Which we changed monthly, so lol try again). And all they would offer in compensation was basically nothing. No reimbursement for the time we could live in our house, or any discount on rent, just a $125 voucher to stay in an approved hotel. For each resident, you ask? No. For all four of us. In one room. For four days. And we were on our own for the weekend. Seriously, these are the biggest crooks in the country. DO NOT RENT WITH FIRST KEY HOMES. They are arrogant, ignorant, and inept. They don't care at all about their renters, and act as if calling for maintenance is an inconvenience for them, but HELLO ITS YOUR JOB. Even when we tried to leave at the end of our lease, they made it as difficult as possible to get out and demanded a handwritten letter delivered in person THREE MONTHS before the move out date, and even with three months to get their stuff together, didn't approve the move until DAYS before the lease ended. Do not trust these people. They lack integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and any other good quality. They are evil crooks who just wanna squeeze you out of every penny you're worth and toss you out like a mouldy sponge (which is basically what we moved into. A mouldy sponge. With black widows and mice). I felt no greater pleasure than turning in my notice to vacate. Do yourself a favour and go with literally any other company. First Key Homes is absolute TRASH. read more

If I could give this company no stars at all I would my original move in date was suppose to be in July then it got pushed to august I was told the house would be ready went to view the house and it was not people belongings were still there and a bunch of other things I was told I could go ahead and sign the lease to assure I was locked in and that the deposit and first months rent I paid would go for when the property was ready for move in then they told me that it'll be ready again and again it was not I didn't end up moving in until some time in September I didn't have keys or anything ....at the older property a water leak was under the house and ran my water bill up to $2507.24 for 1 month which I was told I'd be reimbursed through my portal and I have not I was told to pay this bill and not my rent but yet it has not been credited to me I also had to pay for the movers to move me out of that house and into a storage do to mold exposure the. Into the new property which costed 1319.50 which I was also told I'd receive credit for but I have not....I was told due to the emergency move that the property was not finished but I'd have my basic amenities pronto (hot water air conditioning stove fridge working toilets dishwasher) as I made it very clear on medical conditions and the importance of cooked meals due to a low sodium diet ) and the rest in about 2 weeks done.... I've been now living in this home for 3 months and I finally had to cave and buy a fridge ($968.28) and electric counter stop stove($65) and oven ($150) I also have to supply the dishwasher ($212) I was getting to buy the stove it self but didn't know anything about gas ranges but just about 2 days ago luckily they finally brought me at least that stove which I still can't use because they didn't hook it up because a gas test was not able to be done at that time the hot water doesn't work because the hot water heater stopped working and the furnace emergency shutoff due to being dirty and not cleaned in years so also the heat didn't work a maintenance man came to pint the steps and felt the cold air and provided me with 3 heaters which is about the best service I have gotten from this company I have been emailing and calling and emailing and calling and haven't heard from anybody but somebody wanting to know why I had that balance on my portal and why a note was left on the account and what are they waiting on exactly to clear the portal up ..... but I have yet to hear any real progress of how they are gonna have this living situation I was put in taken care of this is ridiculous 4044923764 read more

So far they have been very helpful. Although when I first moved in the carpets were extremely horrible and we were left to fix them ourselves I guess because no one said anything about doing it. Maintenance have been fairly on time with coming to fix things. The last maintenance person didn't fully fix my issue. I had to put in another request and that took 2 months recently but that's because of COVID , but everything got fixed properly and in a timely matter. Steve was our maintenance guy this time and he did an awesome job. All together I'm still loving my first home and so far no big complaints. read more

Today was to be my move in day. They have changed the lease amount the denied me keys. They have my money I have movers here and they will not call me. I cannot believe they treat people like this! Now I know why the wanted cashiers checks - so they could steal my money. Oh and now they just posted the house I paid a deposit and rent for as a new available rental. I can't even get a call back and they have thousands of my money. By law I have an executed lease and they refuse to give me access. read more

My Husband and I will be at a year in may with this company. Our move in experience wasn't as fast as we wanted but we were give a reduced amount for the month due to them not getting back to us. Upon move in my husband and I stated noticing things that we hadn't seen before but we ignored it and told ourselves when we move somewhere else we will know exactly what we want and don't want. From May to October everything was normal we paid on time every month never late and lived here the best we could. In November our fridge broke, and for 2 weeks no one came to repair it after it had been listed as an emergency on more than one account. Within that time frame our two youngest actually got sick from having to much juice and not enough milk. (our babies are 1 and 2). We also had to constantly buy food because there was no where to store anything. When this was finally resolved we got a late charged dropped from our bill. Fast forward to February ( this is when my largest headache has began). I paid our rent for February through their portal app. After a week we get phone calls from collections saying we never paid. when we inform them we did its a nasty response of "well my computer says here we received nothing from you and a late charge has now been added". So we send in our bank statements in the middle of the month, NEVER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL BACK TO SEE IF THEY GOT THEM. So at the end of February we call them asking if there was a status what was going on. we were told " from what I can see you are in good standing you owe nothing the problem has been fixed". We move on to March 1 I call to pay our rent, because ill never use the portal after what happened, and Im given an amount more than double my rent amount. So instantly I say that's not right. The person Im talking to agrees and sends "a note" for the property manager to call me. As of that next Monday I still haven't received a phone call and I call them on Tuesday. The situation still hasn't been fixed so I get patched from collections ( at this point collections are the ONLY people at this company that answers their phones) to someone that can review my case. As I am being helped the person I am talking to agrees that somethings not right and her manager also agrees it needs to be looked in to. At the conclusion I am to pay only what I owe for march because they aren't sure what is going on with my account. 3 days later on March 7 we get a call from collections saying we owe a late fee because we paid after the 3rd. When trying to explain why Im getting yelled at and cut off by their agent. I am explaining the situation to her telling her Im waiting on the call from a property manager. After getting off the phone we continued to wait for a phone call from our property manager and still receiving calls from collections about being evicted and what all we have to pay them and how we can't live for free. Still waiting to talk to our property manager, who we have called and emailed. At this time I sent in our notice to vacate at the end of our lease. Im trying to call to get an answer on what going on and if my letter was received still nothing for an entire. Its Now march 28 and I am calling again to collections just to get answers. The agent I spoke with informs me that I was REFUNDED the questionable amount and that why Im being charged the amount again. So I call talk to my bank and for some reason the funds are pending, so that's the reason my husband and I haven't seen the money. I call back April 3 to pay my rent and talk to someone about how my funds aren't mine still to this day. In talking to the agent this time she has a field day telling me how none of this is their fault its been my bank and that I need to talk to my bank, or leave my bank, and I should keep a paper trail, an hour and thirty minute talk on how First Key is not liable for what happened. Im still telling her that Ive spoken with my bank the problem Im having is why as of April 3 am I being told that its been my bank when I was originally told it was an IT problem on your end. she says they don't have IT problems the money was never given to them.. ( I was told literally the week prior that First Key refunded me my funds). I then follow up to ask if my notice was received Im then told they never got it and get another lecture on how I should've sent it properly the way my contract says ( which is what I did). As I am still trying to talk to her I am telling her this could've been avoided if I had every gotten a call back and not constantly having to call them to try and fix everything. Ive been going back and forth since February with this, Its still not fixed I am still waiting on my property manager to call. I am still being told I owe funds. I am now being told that because my letter wasn't received I may be charged past the end of my lease. Along with the house being cheap. This to me was a con. It was done for them to try and get more money and fault me read more

Please DO NOT ignore the reviews like we did!!! First Key homes cannot rent their homes in a timely manner because they use a company called CORELOGIC to perform it's background checks. Well, then you end up missing out on good quality renters, because CORELOGIC told me they provide a report based off of "PUBLIC" information. This information consists of a google search based off of your name. Information is then complied from your name results, and the results from names that are similar to yours. Your social security number (the ONE identifier that separates you from everyone else in this world) is NEVER used. The agent from CORELOGIC also explained that they included information from names that "look" like yours, because "it COULD be you." People, please save yourself the time and money. Go with a company that associates themselves with a reputable company and is not out here selling SCAM reports at $35 a piece. First Key homes literally had a less than 24 hour turnaround denial...what kind of rental or job history did you verify in less than 24 hours? Oh, none, because you went off of a report based off of someone's name that LOOKED like mine...between the 2 of us, we have a GREAT rental history, and you would have been lucky to have us as renters. read more

Be careful when you move into a Firstkey property their maintenance Crews are not considerate of your neighbors, and maybe destroying their property, which won't make them happy to be your neighbor, and will probably reflect on your satisfaction in being in one of their properties. This is probably why of the many properties they own in my neighborhood nobody resigns their lease and leaves after a year sorely disappointed. read more

The only reason I'm willing to give this place a star is because of the incredible amazing human Cindy Heffernan who deserves 6 stars. She went above and beyond and was the reason we got to choose the place we wanted to rent. Even though she was two hours away, she figured everything out so we could see the house because the lockbox was broken. Everyone I called dozens of times never returned my phone call. I had called numerous times and was on hold for 30+ mins until I finally reached out to Cindy. She helped us see the home which we rented. Fast forward to move in, we told our property manager numerous times that we would not be there until after two weeks since they usually take the lock box off after a week. There is an entire thread of emails with proof. We get there, no box. All offices are closed. I called emergency maintenance hotline. The woman I spoke to was soulless and did not care about my situation. I asked her what I was supposed to do, her response was to send an email. I told her it was 8 pm, no one is going to be checking emails and we had no where to go. She didn't care, again said send an email. She was heartless and I hope she never stays in the customer service industry because she was so rotten. She refused to give me maintenance's number. I told her what am I supposed to do, sleep in my car with my pet? And again no human remorse. People like this needs to be understanding. We had no where to go. She was completely useless. I usually am very understanding of people in customer service because I was in it for over 10 years but she didn't care about my situation and was rude. I got ahold of Cindy who was not working, worked from her home computer to come up with a solution. She was amazing, understanding, sincere, I couldn't praise this woman enough for everything she's done. She went 110% above and beyond again, apologizing, being so helpful and communicative. As for everyone else in this process, I give -stars. The people on call should be trained to handle these situations because I had no idea what to do and that woman's only response was send em email at 8pm at night which didn't work because everyone was off. First Key Homes needs to reevaluate what to do in scenarios like mine and have a customer service training course. Do better, be like Cindy. read more

Do not even waste your time or money going through this company! They approve multiple people for one house and then have you race with your deposit to see who beats who for the home! I was approved first and they called me and not even 24 hours later the leasing agent contacted another person that was approved and they got to the office before I did when they opened with the deposit. You pay a application fee but apparently that department just processes them and doesn't pay attention to the fact that you have already approved someone for the same house! Horrible business practices!! Also, they give you an option for a move in date but don't tell you that you technically only have 14 days to move in after you pay the deposit! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

This company is the definition of Slumlord. They care nothing for the tenants, especially the on time paying, no issue tenants. I gave this company another year on the premise they would make it right. George Alex Gordon Property Manager, Orlando/Jacksonville Market has been the most unprofessional representative I have yet to deal with. This property manager informed me that his company was not responsible for the negligence in the handling of my notice to vacate the property. It has taken over a month for this individual to investigate my concerns and return my calls. When asked to speak with management he would not provide any information regarding her information or forward me to her. NEVER RENT FROM FIRSTKEY HOMES they are unproffesional and do not care for there tenants at all. read more

Terrible company, does not put families above profit. My family applied for a specific house in Olathe, Kansas. We were told that the application process would take 7-10 business days. Within these 10 business days I called both FIrstkey AND the realtor FOUR times and was never given any information and was told that there were no other applicants. 5 days into the process, our house was removed from the market. I called, no answers given. March 1st, day 9 of application process, we are approved. BUT THEY ALREADY APPROVED ANOTHER TENANT FOR MOVE-IN. Now, my husband and I who are relocating out of state, have to struggle to find a home for our family of 6 in 24 hours while possibly losing our jobs. I WOULD NEVER recommend this company. They do not communicate, had no solutions for their errors (or accountability for that matter). Our agent Cynthia King was terrible. When I called to touch base with her on day 5 of the application process, she basically told me "No, I don't remember you and honey I won't remember you 10 minutes after this conversation" which should have been my first indication of trouble. Save yourself. read more

This company is a joke. We were going to rent a house from FirstKey Homes, however the application process and feedback from the company is enough to turn us away and let us know not to deal business with them. We went and saw a house that we really liked on Sunday, 4-29, and began the application process on that day. We went through some issues getting one of my roommate's background check approved, however all documents had been submitted and we were well over 5x the rent by monthly income. I had not received any emails regarding the application status, approval, denial, and this morning I get a call saying that someone else had been approved for the home (within a day, when it took us a week to even get any information, and Wednesday 5-2, I spoke with the rep. working with us and we were the only ones that had put in an application for the house). Not only did we get our hopes up into getting this house, but the effort that it took for us to get any information out of anyone there is ridiculous. I spoke to the manager of the Houston office, and all she could say was "Oh sorry about that, we're going to certainly have a meeting over this to make sure this doesn't happen again". That doesn't fix the fact that we just lost the house to their negligence and lack of communication so this process could be done faster. We had submitted all of our paperwork, and unless told otherwise, it was out of our hands. We put a ton of effort into making sure they had all the information they could possibly need, and we were received by letting someone else take the house because they were a quicker process. It would be different if they had been upfront about it and told us we may not be approved, or someone else was also applying, but for us to be blind-sided with the fact that someone just swooped in and took it out from under us because their application process was quicker than ours from the application team, really does just suck. Stay away from FirstKey. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM FIRSTKEY HOMES!! These people are slumlords. They will not fix anything. We rented a home that has severe problems with the pipes and now mold in the home and they refuse to take care of the problem. You have to constantly call them 100 times before they even think about returning your call. HORRIBLE COMPANY! I could tell you horror stories about my short few months that we have been in this house. Now I know why it sat empty for a while. They want their rent but they don's want to do their part. My suggestion to you would be sleep in a shelter before you rent from them! This is the worst rental company in the world to rent from. Not worth the stress! read more

if I could give negative reviews of this company I would. we were approved through first key homes for a house in mint hill and were so excited to move. we signed our lease and before putting down the 3k they were asking for move in fees we thought it best to check the property out that we would be renting from them. when we arrived the door was open, and there was a family of squatters living inside the building that according to the neighbors have been there since late April, so the house has been sitting unchecked by this property while listed for rent on zillow. we called the police as instructed and one of the officers who showed up told us to tuck tail and run from first key homes and proceeded to tell us how they charged her over $600 in unexplained fees. after hearing that we opted against becoming a first key resident and reached out to our property manager Jessica slingerland requesting our application fees be refunded back to us. It took ms. Slingerland weeks and a bad review on google to finally get her to respond to my multiple emails, go figure. I finally get her on the phone and she let me know my refund was sent to my forwarding address, I was displeased with the lack of communication and asked for her supervisors information (which to no surprise I didn't receive) and after that I stated there was nothing else I needed and she rudely hung up the phone without a word. Seems like these companies will hire anyone with half a brain and an attitude to manage your home so beware!! Do not rent from this company!! Would suggest invitation homes or tricon residential if you want a company that actually cares for their tenants! read more

So everything has not been absolute Bliss by any stretch of the imagination. However I have to tell you we are extremely happy right now. we have made phone calls for maintenance requests that have been fulfilled within 24 hours. It started out a little rough when we moved in because we weren't through enough in our walk through. I place zero blame on us because some of the things that we didn't notice would have never have been noticed unless you lived in the home. However since then it's been a perfect 5-star service! Curan is one of their servicemen and he is awesome! The customer support line has been nothing short of superb lately. Again not perfect but improving drastically!!! I think it's worth noting that, we had a shelf break in our refrigerator on a Friday they came to look at it. the following Monday we had a brand new side-by-side refrigerator installed. I understand some of the ratings on Yelp but it has not been our personal experience with first key homes read more

Literally worst than renting from an apartment. Big companies like this buying houses and charging way more than the house is worth, should at least be able to keep up with simple maintenance for your house. They apparently have one maintenance man for our entire area, who came to fix something and ended up making a water leak that caused a huge bill and then the company said they would take care of that. They did not, even after months and months of emails and calls trying to get it settled. Now they TAPE a letter OVER my mailbox(which is definitely illegal) saying if we don't pay the water bill within 7 days that we'll be evicted. Also had wrong dates written on there, and was supposed to be hand delivered but was not. Rent has always been on time and has never been an issue to be paid. Also no one apparently keeps track of any records of phone calls, or makes notes on what's going on because after calling and speaking to serveral people, no one could help give an answer. No one responds to any emails or calls, and then makes it seem like they've tried contacting you multiple times. I will never rent from this company again, and I advise no one else to do so either. They don't care about their properties and have made it perfectly clear. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. It is practically impossible to get in touch with anyone in the office and if we somehow manage to, they are always extremely unhelpful. Calls are bounced around from person-to-person while each one passes the responsibility on to someone else. Simple tasks are dragged out for weeks and there is never any follow up. read more

Upon applying to multiple properties and Michelle Bushey who is somehow in charge of taking care of leasing explain to us that is first come first serve and to increase our chances of finding a property we should apply to an additional 1 or 2 more. Me and my family ended up applying to 3 proprieties since she told us that. And what is really disappointing is that you have 14 days to find a property, sign the paper work and move in. If not the property goes back to the market. Since it's such a short notice we wanted to improved our chances of finding a property quickly since I am getting a job transfer and my starting day is March 1st and today is February 4th. After spending $300 on applications, I received an email of denial, although Michelle Bushey explain 'they work with their renters'. I tried contacting firstkey homes to get further details of denial but contacting them is a nightmare. As soon as they are open it's a hold up. After anxiously waiting majority of my day for a call back and nothing, I decided to call the saferent company named 'CoreLogic'. I learned that because of a financial mishap that took place years ago was my cause of denial, as well as learning they don't use your credit score to analyze how you are standing on your current accounts. Both of this companies seem to be working hand to hand to profit of denial applications with a promise of them working with you and never responding. Although, I am glad of this denial as I have learned of how they scam applicants read more

First Key Homes is the Absolute WORST!!!! Me and my girlfriend are renting a house in Stone Mountain, Ga from them. Upon moving in (April 2018) we did a walk thru a week before, the stove didn't work or the air condition, neither did the dish washer. They ensured us that this items would be fixed before move in and guess what? of course once we moved in none of those things were fixed. Also the sewer was back up so everything we washed clothes the sewer in the front yard was flowing with piss and shit, we called and called and they wasn't returning our phone calls for about a week in a half, I literally had to call corp and vent to a manager to get a plumber out. Till this day our dish washer still isn't fixed and of course I left messages with them and they still haven't called me back. I should of read the reviews here before I signed a lease with this company. They are the absolute WORST and I cant wait till my lease is up to move out this whack ass house that we pay 1225 a month for and cant get no good customer service. Renters please take my advise and don't rent from this loser company.. read more

I have received the worst service from First Key Homes than I think I have with any other company I've ever worked with. I have had to chase everyone that works for this company around to get anything completed since day 1. I never received any information on our home - including having to contact our neighborhood HOA to find our mailbox number, I had to contact waste industries to find the day our trash would be picked up, and I had to contact our neighborhood HOA board to get the covenants. Aren't these things pretty much common sense that your leasee should be given information on? To top it all off, I was charged a $9.95 non-compliance fee on December 1st for not having renters insurance. I submitted proof of insurance on 11/19 and it was accepted immediately. 2 weeks before the bill comes out - ample time to remove charge. But rest assured, had I waited to pay my rent until it was handled (because they don't give you an option to change the amount you're paying) it wouldn't have gone over so well. I have been trying to get a credit on my account since 12/1 - when I first realized this was charged to my account. I was told on 12/20 they had handled this and I would see a credit on my account by the time January rent was due. Never happened. Now I've been charged once again for a non-compliance fee. I followed up AGAIN, and they hung up in my face after hearing my name. After being jerked around for 2 months - I finally spoke with effective coverage (since First Key said they weren't responsible for the charge - but had emailed several times to get this handled) and this company verified that First Key had NEVER contacted them about these charges. Which, now I know they never did anything to rectify this situation - and only lied and told me they had. I think this company is very unprofessional, and I'm not sure how they continue to operate if every client receives the type of service I have. Which, after looking at all of the BBB complaints - it seems like there are SEVERAL. read more

Do not rent from this company. Reading through these reviews I absolutely feel all of your frustration. We moved in the 18th of December. The onboarding was great! Melissa was amazing and had great customer service skills! I'm a single mom of 5 and moving is rough to say the least! We finally move into the home the 23rd of December. We notice that the sink in the guest bathroom is not draining and the sink in the master bathroom is leaking. I put in a work order. It's now Christmas time and my son is home from school so hes home for the plumber to come in and do work. A maintenance man that works for first key is sent out on the 28th and deduces that the plumbing needs to be fixed by a professional plumber. At this time the toilets start to backup. So I wait for the vendor to contact me. By January 4th theres no call from the vendor. Now we have sewage backing up into our showers and both toilets are clogged. This equals NO WORKING BATHROOMS FOR 6 PEOPLE!!! I email Jessica Flores and let her know, she gets the vendor to call us and come out. They come out and do absolutely nothing. They tell my son they have to get permission to do the work. I dont hear from them again until I once again email Jessica. They call, come out and cut a whole in the wall above the toilet. This allows the toilet to work for maybe 3 days 50% of the time. We are still seeing sewage backup in the showers. We are now sitting at January 18th and we have not been able to live in the home. More emails are exchanged. I ask for a rent credit to be applied. Jessica stops answering my emails. I put in a message to corporate and instead of an answer I get a phone call from Susanna Perez. Apparently the dates are wrong on our lease. She sends over an addendum to be signed. The addendum states on line 2 "Resident acknowledges and agrees to pay any additional fees discussed by representative of First Key homesLLC and listed resident for subjected change in household" WOULD ANYBODY SIGN THIS? Theres nothing else explaining whether fees are being charged or not. That leaves me open to any amount they feel like charging at any time! Susanna insists she can not change the addendum or add to it to make me comfortable in signing. I ask her to direct me to someone in corporate who can help me. She also asks about the rent credit and I explain what it is I would like. After this email she does not reply on the matter. The plumbers have been out to put in a new pipe. I have 1 toilet still leaking, a demoed bathroom, and 1 shower with no hot water. This was a HORRIBLE experience and they DO NOT care about their tenants. 5 kids with no bathroom and sewage coming up through drains. Deplorable read more

Please save yourself some time and scratch this company off the list. I've leased numerous homes online and completed the entire process on the internet. This is however the first time the had a bathroom with no sink or toilet, and a den with fiberglass insulation falling from entire roof and every wall. Even though their online site said 1.5 bath and I completed the process online I am responsible for adding the the 1/2 bath they are just responsible for the space in which I can do it . I have had a horrible experience with the move in process. I applied and got approved. I was told I was unable to tour the home until 2/10 but had to pay the security deposit within 2 days or it would go back on the market. Very frustrating but went ahead and paid the deposit. My move in date was set at 2/23. The very next day after paying my deposit I was told I was unable to tour the home until 2/17. I was very irritated and disappointed. I dealt with it. I asked to move my move in date to the 22nd instead of the 23rd. I received an email back stating it was changed and I could move in on the 22nd. I started trying to get ahold of the leasing agent since last Friday to see if the home was available to tour. I received no response until today. I was told today that I can't tour the home now until the 22nd. MY MOVE IN DATE. As if that wasn't bad enough, she goes on to say I CANT move in until the 25th now. The date has now been changed 3 times. I'm beyond angry. I have scheduled movers for the 22nd. I have 90% of my furniture being delivered on the 22nd and installed. My internet provider is scheduled to come on the 22nd. When I ask my leasing agent why the delay, I get a generic response. She said it may be due to weather or not being able to get the materials needed. I asked what I was suppose to do for a home during the gap. No answer. I asked what I'm supposed to do with my furniture deliveries and no response. This is a huge disappointment and would never recommend first key homes to anyone. Moving is stressful all in itself but to change the date 3 times and push it back further is unreal. read more

My husband and I were moving to Texas from out of state and found everything with FirstKey Homes, and their staff, very convenient. They allowed us to do a self guided tour of our potential home, which was perfect for us due to our distance. Every person we spoke to, emailed, or texted was very helpful. We had quick response times, even on weekends. Cade met with us for our walk through and was very informative about the walk through process. He was courteous to wait for us although we were running a late. From talking to Diego and Connie, at the beginning and dealing with Cade at the end, we have had an easy, amazing experience with FirstKey Homes. read more

Update: After getting the run around by some woman named Alice I was told that a technician would come to fix my AC at 8 am because I needed to get to work at 9 like most people who work for a living have to. I was told that they only work Monday through Friday 8-5 again when most people are at work. I have been without AC for two days during a record heatwave in Florida. I have two dogs that have to sit at home in a house that has gotten to 90 degrees, all because these slumlords can't get their shit together. Now I'm at home waiting for a technician who somehow got stuck in "traffic" when he was supposed to be here at 8 am. He is now over half an hour over due and I will be late for work. These people are a ridiculous and the fact that they think this is okay just shows to go what a pathetic excuse for a business they are. Mind you when it's time to pay rent you can bet your ass they are always there to remind you the day it's due, I have never been late or missed a rent payment but these people can't be bothered to fix the AC in 100 degree heat in a timely manner. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy they are a joke, incredibly unprofessional and rude. Especially if you have kids or pets because if you have never been stuck without AC in Florida during a heatwave count yourself lucky. It is dangerous and sometimes lethal for small children and pets and this company doesn't care about your safety or the safety of your loved ones they just care about that check you write them at the end of the month. These people are no better than slumlords. I have been renting with them in San Carlos park for a year and a half I always pay my rent early and try to maintain the place clean. But their maintenance response is a joke. When I first moved in the water was absolutely disgusting a yellow oily substance that was obviously not safe to drink. Now The clean drinking water act dictates that "Landlords are ultimately legally responsible for ensuring that residential rentals have clean, hot and cold running water." I called and called and was given the run around till I threatened to call the health department that's when they finally installed a brand new piece of shit pump that barely provides water good enough to shower but at that point I was in the middle of starting a new job and could not continue to loose work days waiting for the issue to be repaired. So I let it go because it was clean enough to wash dishes and such but I continue to purchase gallons of water. Now I am having issue with the AC both times I am told that they will call me in 24-48 hours in Florida during the summer where it's getting over 90 every single day. I work all day but I have two dogs who stay home and have to sit as the house get hotter and hotter getting over 100 degrees at times. The law in Florida states that AC must be provided and 48 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to be without AC in this state. This is abuse I am already in the process of breaking my lease because paying their ridiculous penalty is better than living in these deplorable conditions. Besides those issues the place is disgusting in terms of flooring that is cracked and permanently stained, half painted walls, a whole section of my kitchen wasn't even completely tiled. I live here because at the time it's what I could afford with rent prices being so high in the area. But they really are nothing but overprice slumlords taking advantage of tenants who sadly can not afford to move out. Now thankfully I am able to break my lease because it's the old lease version but their new lease option does not offer that choice and you cannot break their lease. So do not rent from these scammers trust me when I tell you it is a mistake their lease states that you basically have to perform all the maintenance yourself and that you are responsible for so much more than the average tenant is. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

When I write I review, I am usually writing a positive review. Unfortunately, I cannot give First Key Homes a positive review. If you are considering a home with First Key Homes please take your business elsewhere, and find a private landlord to rent from. Sadly, these rental companies are scams, and if I had known from the beginning I would have never chosen First Key Homes. My husband and I toured the home in April, and our biggest concern was the cigarette smoke smell and residue all over the house. This is a health and safety risk, especially since my husband has asthma. I brought up the concern and it was supposed to be resolved before we moved in, in May. It was not. It is now July, and the issue is still unresolved. After a few weeks of moving in we learned, we had a rat infestation that had been there before we moved in, and all of our smoke detectors were not installed in the house. I also learned last week that our fireplace is condemned. We have also had countless maintenance people fix many minor issues that we had with the home. I have reached out to everyone I know with First Key Homes, and all of my maintenance requests for the past few weeks have been canceled and have gone unresolved. Now maintenance is saying there is nothing they can do. I am highly dissatisfied with my experience with this company, and I am exhausted trying to do my part and get these issues resolved. After reading more reviews I am nervous we will not get our deposit back. First Key Homes does not care about the health and safety of their tenants, and they just want your money. read more

My experience with First Key homes, even in the first month, was horrendous. Our AC went out and they left us in a completely uninhabitable environment. After a week of pestering, and trying to survive in a 105 degree home, they FINALLY proceeded to fix our AC with no compensation. On top of this, they harassed us over minute details and NEVER would return calls, and charged us more than necessary for our rent. Once you sign the rental agreement; they don't care about you or your children. our house can be falling apart and they basically cancel all of your maintenance tickets without telling you why. We just took ownership of a property May 31 after relocating to Spring, TX from California and the home is in disrepair. It's infested with roaches. The leak under the kitchen sink has caused damage. 2 of the 3 toilets were clogged, the water and gas were both not on so we had days of no hot water. When you call corporate to submit a request they gladly take your information and submit it but the local office cancels everything without notifying you. The toilets were unclogged but that was it. The repair guy couldn't finish everything and reassigned it but I've heard nothing about getting any of the other repairs taken care of. The roach infestation request was canceled with a note stating it's the occupants responsibility to deal with pests. According to my lease it is the property managements responsibility for the first 30 days along with all the other repairs. I will be speaking to an attorney later this week to try to get this solved because I can't get anyone from First Key to respond to me and corporate says they can't do anything. read more

Rented from first key for 4 years. When it came time to renew-they decided to not renew my lease. I was never late on my rent-not once in 48 months. But they basically kicked me out. I can only assume-because I would call in about the house basically falling down around me. The air conditioner was severly outdated-average electric bill was 280 in the summer. After numerous calls-nothing was done. The house was infected with termites-for 3 years. Just imagine-brushing your teeth in the morning-and having termites landing on you. And then-the pool was leaking-so between the testing-me having to fill the pool on my dime-and when they finally resurfased the pool-btw-the pool repair company-left beer bottles all over my backyard. They were drinking the entire time. Plus the fact-they filled the pool-with the water hose-on my dime. And also-once "corporate" decided to kick a regular customer out- after sending the higher water bill-12 months of bills- went from 75 a month average- to 3 months at 175- which I was never reimbursed from. Then apparently they did not understand the term-"last month". So basically- They took half of my security deposit. The only way I got half back- is when I called them out. So basically if you are reading this- DO NOT TRUST FIRST KEY HOMES! They will do everything to screw you out of your money. I should be receiving a call from the 10th property manager from this post. Yes- 10 managers after 4 years. STAY AWAY! read more

This company bought the rental home we were already living in. The rent increased significantly every year yet they never inspected the property and repairs were extremely slow and would only happen after we called multiple times a day for days in a row. These were major issues that affected the habitability of the house. Twice it was a water line break that resulted in no water in the home for days and once it was a water heater that busted and flooded the house. When the home was flooded they finally fixed the water heater then said they would inspect the damage but never sent anyone. A large portion of the driveway also completely sunk and the home is up a very steep hill and when we reported the damage and asked for a repair they only came out to take pictures And never repaired it. The property management repeatedly put charges on our rent for not having renters insurance despite the fact that we had continuous coverage for the over 5 years that we lived there and sent them proof of our policy over and over. Any time they stand to make an extra fee they seem to lose the proof that you complied by their requirements. Finally we reached the end of our patience with the company refusing to adequately maintain a decent property with basic access and timely repairs so we contacted them about terminating our lease early. The property manager said it was no problem and sent us a move out package, accepted our date and accepted our rent plus two months extra rent as an early termination fee. Now four months after we have moved out another person from First Key has contacted us with a bill for three more months of rent. This is an investment company with no ties to any community that profits off of high rents while barely maintaining livable houses. They engage in predatory marketing like sending repeated emails to tenants soliciting them to sign up for services like rent trak that promise to build your credit by reporting your rent payments to credit bureaus but charge large fees to do so. It seems to be company culture to cut corners and perform the bare minimum because they are not providing a product to their tenants, they are providing an investment product to their investors. read more

All of these reviews are absolutely correct - First Key Homes is the worst property management company. I work as a property manager and manage student housing complexes. I completely understand the responsibilities of a landlord and how to provide support and customer service in this industry. I am appalled at the way I have been treated and embarrassed to work in the same industry. I moved in about a week ago and have had a nightmare of a time trying to get anything resolved or be shown some compassion. Just a few things to mention: First of all, don't expect for First Key to have time to show you around the home, they have self guided tours. Sounds great but that's their first step at locking you into their hellish lease (aka - no chance to ask any questions to the landlord about the house). If you have a question - you get to call their contact center in Georgia after you sit on hold for 10 - 20 minutes every time you call. As a renter, I don't expect to have to ask if a home will have cable outlets and Internet outlets in bedrooms/living rooms or if the home will have a disposal in the kitchen sink (I saw a switch by the sink and figured that was the disposal and checked it off my list), or check that the built in microwave has a ventilation duct to extract smoke when cooking on my stovetop and blow it outside the house (nope! it's just built in and hung crooked for looks). You would think because you are alive and renting in 2018, that your home you are about to RENT comes with coax cable outlets and ethernet ports - NOPE! They stripped them out of the entire house and explained that it's the tenant's responsibility and expense to get with your service provider to get those installed after you get the landlords permission for the cable company to drill holes throughout the home. We moved in and found our Internet cable CUT and dangling from our basement window. To this day, I still cannot have cable boxes in my home. First Key's response was to check section 23 of my lease that speaks about utilities and how I the tenant am responsible for MONTHLY charges of any utility charges. Of course I am responsible for the service charges, but I cannot even USE the service for which I set up and am paying for when there are NO OUTLETS to plug into to receive the service! That's like setting up electricity but removing every outlet in the home and saying it's my responsibility as someone renting for one year to install. It's insane and makes absolutely no sense for a tenant to be responsible for. Let's get to the worst part - I moved into the house being COVERED in someone else's filth! Pee stains on every toilet, a used soap bar and black soap scum stained tub, hair/beard shavings/nail clippings/dust in every bathroom and medicine cabinet. Food bits left in the oven, microwave, kitchen sink, and freezer and ice tray. Absolutely disgusting and was completely missed by First Key homes. Obviously I was upset and emailed my leasing agent about what I found on Sunday May 27th. She replied immediately and said she forwarded my concerns to the Regional Manager. Given this was Memorial Day weekend, I didn't expect a reply on Monday but Tuesday morning or before noon given I would have to live in this filth over the weekend and it should have been completed by First Key on May 23rd, my lease start date. Having not heard from the Regional Manager by 12 pm, I asked for her contact information. I emailed her at 2 pm asking for a reply on what her plan was to rectify this. I called her at 3 pm and 4 pm and left voicemails. Still no reply. I called my leasing agent and asked her to reach out to Christine Watkins, RM, and call me before she leaves for the day. She didn't. She emailed me at 4:45 pm with the most passive response: "I am sorry that your move in experience did not go as expected. It is our policy to present a clean home upon move in, so I am very sorry for any mess you encountered" ANY mess?! This wasn't just a couple dust bunnies around the house, it was disgusting and foul and not worth the over $2600 I had already paid them. I was not worth her time to call. I was not worth her time to come out to my property to walk it with me and show face. I was not worth her time to show any compassion or empathy for the mistake her company made and that her team dropped the ball on. I asked to be released from lease given their several lies of omission, to be told that wouldn't be possible, but good luck getting internet and cable in your home. Expecting to move into a home with Internet/Cable outlets? Not their policy. Expecting to move into a clean home? Won't happen. Expecting to have disposal in your kitchen sink? Not their policy. Expecting to have anyone care about your legit concerns? Not their policy! What is their policy? Take as many short cuts and cheap investments to benefit First Key and inconvenience the tenant by placing the responsibility on them. From, another helpless tenant of First Key Homes read more

Allow me to set the scene for you. My husband and I had an accepted application offer for a house in Indiana. However, we were having issues with the property generating in his account so he could sign the lease. No property, no lease. No signature, no house. Prior to this technical issue we received a phone call from Laura giving us the good news of our accepted application and that she would be our move-in coordinator. The best part is that Laura sent in a few maintenance tickets for us. This is normally a task that residents are responsible upon move-in. Thank you Laura for your hospitality and compassion it was a warm welcome to your community! Although, Laura was very sweet she is not the reason I am leaving this review. I will take you thru 72 hours of stress and frustration to tell you why I am giving FirstKeyHomes five stars, even though we almost did not rent from them. Signing the lease and paying first months rents needs to be done within the first 48 hours. Not a problem. Within the first 24 hours I sign the lease and wait for that to go through so I could pay first months rent. I receive an email stating my husband needs to sign the lease. I should have been reading things betters but this can be easily completed. Except it couldn't. We cannot get the property to generate on my husbands account, because his email was entered wrong. Laura puts in an IT ticket to get it changed and resends the lease. This is where the story should end. Unfortunately, we still have another 24 hours of misery to go. Laura's ticket to IT does not fix the problem. At this point I'm frustrated and concerned, because our move-in is 8 days away. I leave work to try to resolve this. My husband and I are not yet residents, meaning there is nothing IT can do for us except direct us back to their "Move-In Coordinators". Then Sharalyn Moore enters the picture. My husband and her have a conversation on the phone and she assures us that we will not lose the house even through our 48 hours is up. She needs to explore the issue further and call us back tomorrow. Promptly, at 9am, Sherelyn calls and tells me that the issue is resolved and we are good to go. We hang up and I go to sign the lease. The issue is still not resolved. I call IT who direct us back to a "Move-In Coordinator" who will contact us soon. While I wait to be contacted, I email Laura and Libby to update them and see if there is anything I can do to help move this process along while we wait. Laura and Libby attempt to help by resending the lease to both my husband and I. On my account I am getting the error code, "cannot sign lease until it is ready". I then receive an email from Benjamin telling me my request has been updated. The issue is still not fixed and I call IT again hoping that someone is still working to help resolve the issue. They are not. I am again directed to another Move-In Coordinator, Sara, and she gives me her number. At this point I have given up. I have begun searching for a new house to rent that is not with FirstKeyHomes. It is around 3pm when Sharalyn calls to see how everything is going. She hears my frustrations and anxieties; she treats me like a person, not the problem. Sharalyn is amazing! Over the next hour she personally walks me through the error codes. "What happens when you click this?" , "What error code does it give you?", "Let me try something and then we will refresh." One by one we solve the issues. Through this phone call I have realized three things. First, this is not a part of her job description. She is going out of her way to help us. Secondly, she has been dealing with these technical issues all day, and this is a company wide issue. Sharalyn has been working with other clients to figure out these issues, which is why she knows how to help us. Finally, she is amazing at her job. I used to work in the tech field as customer service, and I know that you distract the client with conversation while you handle the hard part. In-between conversation you are giving detailed explanations to what you are doing so the client understands what you are trouble shooting. People feel unease when they don't know what's going on. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE DID! It has also occurred to me that most "Move-In Coordinators" do not know how to trouble shoot these issues (because it is not in their job description) and are simply sending people to IT to handle it. Except, IT directs them back to the coordinators because they are not residences! My husband and I were stuck in the circle of " I will send you to somebody else to help you." until someone with exceptional hospitality skills stopped it! Sharalyn took initiative and did not wait for somebody else to solve the problem! If it wasn't for her I would have gone somewhere else. Not only is she the reason for this five star review, but she has saved you at least two clients by just taking the time to be present until the issues got resolved. GIVE THIS WOMAN A RAISE! read more

Don't Do It! Run... Scam Artists Alert!!! Rent Elsewhere... Thank Me Later!!! So, first off, I'm not one to write reviews even when I have had a bad experience somewhere, but this is absolutely necessary. I rented a home from First Key Homes on Jennifer Lane in Arlington, TX for over a year. We always paid our rent on time including utilities. However, I had to break my lease 2 months prior to our lease expiration due to the purchase of our new home. We paid through our 60 day notice and the lease break fee (equal to 3months) even though we vacated in January 2021. I asked for assistance with these fees and possibly waiving them as it was a lot of money for a home we are not living in. Hoping to leverage off of the fact that due to our commitment to paying on time during COVID despite the pandemic; however, NO help there... Ok, cool, it is what it is with that, you all are not willing to assist us in being great. Whatever, Fine! Fast forward to after move out. I log into the portal to view and pay my final account statement and to my surprise, I have over a $1000 balance! WTH???? At this point I'm confused as we left the house in a better condition than we received it. Not to mention I was charged for a smoke detector that I had already discussed was missing at the beginning of my lease. And when I say, they were so unorganized at move in, nothing was scheduled including the walk through, cleaned, nor repaired (broke dishwasher, leak under cabinets, plumbing issues, roof leak leading into one of the bedroom closets which I'm sure there was mold present- hazardous to our health (but they didn't care enough to fix it, electrical issues like whoa... You couldn't plug 2 things in the wall at the same time without it flipping the breaker. Half the house would go without lights for weeks at a time. This was never repaired btw, and the list continues on and on) all discussed prior to our move in date and or at move in with a rep of First Key Homes. I was reassured this stuff would be completed prior to our move in date and the home would be sparkled/cleaned and repairs completed. Low and behold nothing was touched from my original walk through and listed concerns. After several service requests and vendors, including techs coming out, the issues still persist in the home. I had taken many photos so I knew this to be true. The same dead bugs I saw at viewing, were the same dead bugs and dirty appliances I saw at move in a month later . Anyway, no use of crying over spilled milk. Back to this over $1000 balance. So, of this balance over $900 of it is utilities... Ok, so now, I'm really confused as I'm thinking they have lost there minds and this has to be a mistake. I called and it's the same old scripted BS about your usage changed/increased?! So, looking at the charges a little closer, I see that my gas bill (btw only the stove was gas) has increased by almost 4 times as much ... Mind you, the entire last month (February 2021 including half of January 2021, me and my family were living in our new home. How the h*** our usage increased and we haven't even been there. I call BS. At this point I'm willing to post this on every social media outlet and wherever else including the BBB, because there is no way I owe First Key homes $700 worth of gas bills from the last months of stay. Not to mention the final month was the highest (February 2021)?????!!!!! Y'all are absolutely delusional and this unjust. Worst renting experience ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would highly recommend you run from this company immediately... Do not pass GO, do not pay the app fee nor deposit! Run!!! They will set you up, provide a crappie product and find a way to suck you dry and then say oh well, we screwed you! read more

I am so frustrated and extremely disappointed how this company handles serious issues. My basement flooded a few months ago and I dealt with it on my own. The carpet in bedroom was wet over the entire bedroom. I have a finished basement where I live, living room, bedroom and 1/2 bath. My roommate lives upstairs. Since then it flooded AGAIN and this time the ENTIRE basement. The way came up over the top of the carpet and around your shoes when you walked. They sent out someone to look at foundation and someone else to dry carpets and a few days later to clean them. They even installed NEW padding in one room. The foundation repairman said it needed a trench dug along two walls of the house and a sump pump installed. Every time I emailed or called I was told the foundation work order hadnt been approved but I was directly told I could move all my stuff back. (I had to completely empty two rooms for carpet to dry) I questioned this logic and was told again it was safe to put my bedroom furniture/bed back and my living room furniture back. It seemed a waste of money to clean a carpet and install new padding when the floor needed to be jackhammered to install trenches for drainage to the sump pump. Guess what? It rained a week later and the carpet got wet again! I emailed 4 people, Larry Angerman, Lauren Stanislaus, Amanda Schable and Akeeta Freeman that it leaked again and never got a response. I will say Akeeta was very pleasant, as are most that I have spoken to, but that doesn't solve my issue! My carpet has been wet for 4 days and I had to place towels over the water flooded carpet to soak it up, launder the towels and repeat this to get it where it wasn't soaking wet. The foundation repair man also said the gutters needed cleaning and the the perimeter of the house needed grading to help alleviate the flooding issues. Here we are 3 weeks later and nothing has been done except someone came to clean gutters after two weeks. I had to wash all my clothes in basement as they smelt of mildew. I had to throw some items away. I have ZERO use of most of my living area but have put a mattress on the flood to sleep as I don't want to set up my entire bed just to get wet. They seem to think this is ok. If I had wind damage and a door came off I am sure they would repair it ASAP. But since it's just a basement it doesn't deserve priority? THE BASEMENT IS WHERE I LIVE! We pay $1275 a month and are not getting what we deserve. There are NUMEROUS other issues and I have dealt with them myself. The yard was in hideous condition when we moved in in Feb. Giant branches all over the backyard that had accumulated. There was brush around the AC/Heating unit on side of the house that I had to clear myself. When I went to the Orientation at the office before we moved I was told someone would walk through the house WITH us. That wasn't done. It was left to us. And then when you don't notice something they put the onus on YOU to tell them in 30 days. I felt this was unfair and I should have spoke up THAT day but I did not. So many little things are left undone when you move in and if you don't catch them you are screwed! Now our rent is due in a few days and I have spent the entire month of July without half my house usable and have had to sleep on a couch or the floor. Very unacceptable! read more

I rented a home from First Keys back at the end of May 2020... This was after I spent over a month trying to get in contact with someone and no one would return my calls or emails. They still don't Shoy is amazing. Does everything possible to resolve situations. Other than that it has been a nightmare with appliances, work orders, and getting things done. The garbage disposal, dishwasher, oven, microwave, and furnace all had issues. I had weeds, poison ivy/oak (reported that before I moved in to them and they didnt get it fixed til September) and window leaked. The maintenance team dropped the ball on the dishwasher so it was delayed over a month getting fixed. The oven has been broken since July. I specifically got this house bc of the double oven appliance. I have stated this to the company multiple time, to the techs, to all of them since July. Now it is December and they now want to fix it by replacing it. 3 different techs have been out and stated it could be fixed and just needed a part and if that didnt work that I could speak with management to keep the double oven type when they order a new one. The vendor confirmed they had them. Management said no to the double oven feature. Why was I not told this back in July. Why wait til December? And why did it take til December to finally get this work order almost completed? No communication from them. I have had to call and email and run in circles trying to figure it out. The other managers and director never get back to me. And when they do, they dont answer my questions. The weeds and poison ivy/oak took until September to get fixed. We figured out that my son is allergic to poison ivy/oak...the hard way. He broke out and I had to take him to the hospital. I let First Keys know... No apologies, no rush to get this taken care. Shoy did try to push to get things done and tried to always find out what was going on. That is my main contact because she most of the time responds. But she can only do so much. The window leaked and they sent someone out to fix it. A few weeks later it is still leaking...floor is damaged. I made an order at the beginning of October... still no one has come to fix the leaking window...but they sent a floor vendor to fix the floor... but the floor vendor said not til the window is fixed. That was at the end of October... I am still waiting and have had no communication from anyone on what is going on... Plus Ill have to miss work because the window that is leaking is in my office and the window has to be replaced and then the floor has to be replaced. The furnace didn't work the first day it was cold. Took a few weeks to have the furnace replaced since they said there were cracks in it and it was a old furnace. I see many many bad reviews about First Key Homes. And for paying such a high amount in rent, you would think they would treat their tenants better. They have not offered any kind of compensation for all the problems I have had. The lack of communication, customer service, and the lack of effort is very disappointing. I would give Shoy 5 starts for the hard work. The rest 0-1 stars and in this economy, being there for people is important. read more

I'm giving 5 stars Only because of NATASHA ARRINGTON!! I've been in my Atlanta area home several years before FirstKey became my new property managing company and over all I have not had a good experience with several FirstKey departments that I've had to call for support, especially maintenance. Now that I'm leaving I can say these last few months has been even more of a roller-coaster of emotions for me. A month ago, I've had my belongings damaged in the inside of the attached storage of my townhouse. Maintenance came out and repaired the roof and ceiling, yet two weeks later it's messed up again in the same spots and still today the problem is on going. Not one person from FirstKey have said they'd pay for my damaged personal belongings that I cannot move out because it has mold as well as water damage to it. This is one of many factual examples of my experience and issue with this company. There's no support or help when I need especially when the problem is not my fault. This can be very overwhelming especially during my move out time. So, when I made the decision to move and to go through FirstKey's process of leaving, my first thought was, it's going to be a headache of no help or support just like it is being here. However, I've spoken with a wonderful woman named Mrs. Natasha Arrington. She has, so far, been one of the best people I've came across of someone who has communicated and tried to help me. I've expressed what's going on and she's assured me that my move out journey will be with her assistance the entire way and if there's anything she can do she will. Natasha has answered my calls every time I've reached out to her and I can say she has told the truth! As I've stated earlier about my bad experience with FirstKey, another problem was that as a resident here it's extremely hard to speak to someone especially anyone who can handle and deal with the problems that arise. We always get the runaround, meaning I call the 800# they take a message to give to someone and I wait for a response and nothing or I send several emails without getting replies. They have a third party calling system with no communication returned to me. That's frustrating... however, not this time with Natasha! She's kept her word and has always called me back when I needed. With her, so far so good. Thank you for that!! I can appreciate and respect someone who is honest and keeps their word. I will update later as my journey continues with Natasha, thanks lady. FirstKey, I hope you appreciate having Natasha Arrington on your team with her integrity and empathy who makes your customers feel like we matter and not just another paying address. She has excellent customer service skills and I hope you (FirstKey) get more people like her. Thank you for taking the time to read this, be blessed. read more

I have a new friend. So, there are those occasions when a service provided by an individual is worth mentioning and praising. Yesterday a gentleman called Darryl came to my home to take care of a couple of maintenance orders I had placed through the FirstKey Homes Website. I will elaborate on the flow of the events: He called in the morning to let me know that he was coming and to confirm the time. He was very well-spoken and courteous. During the day I learned that I was going to be running a little late, so I called Darryl to let him know. He had an understanding tone and was very flexible. When he got home, we discussed the issues that needed attention and he quickly went to tackle the first one: garbage disposal. The garbage disposal that he had at hand as a replacement was different from the one installed. He discussed with me a couple of ways to do the replacement, but in the process, he came up with a third option which happened to be the best one. He demonstrated resourcefulness and he also considered my opinion. The replacement worked like a charm and the first issue was completed. When going to the second issue (a bad shower door), he realized that it represented a risk (broken and came loose easily), and without hesitation, he agreed to my suggestion to remove it so we could replace it with a regular shower curtain. He performed the second task quickly and neatly. The faulty and dangerous shower door was removed, and I was happy. I will say that seldom do you come across a person like Darryl. We had a friendly conversation while he was performing his job. Not everybody technician likes to talk while performing a task. Darryl was courteous and respectful in his approach and considered my views and opinions on the issues that needed repair. Darryl was knowledgeable and resourceful. He knew what he was doing and when faced with a challenge, he came up with a solution that turned out to be the best. Que was quick and made sure that everything was clean and neat after he finished. I think I came across a person that loves what he does and enjoys interaction with people. You don't see much of that these days. I say that Darryl is a Rockstar and FirstKey homes is blessed to have a person like him on his staff. I was very pleased and felt very good about his visit and work. And just like that, I can say that Darryl is my new friend. Thank you, Darryl, you are amazing. I wish all companies and businesses had more people like you. You make this world better. Thanks. read more

FirstKey Homes is by far the worst company I've leased with. From the very beginning, my experience has been filled with frustration and disappointment. When I moved in, I discovered that the advertised working fireplace was non-functional because the gas lines had been disconnected and capped. This became a significant issue during the winter when my heating system failed, and the temperature inside the house dropped to 30-40 degrees. I was stuck in the cold with my 5-year-old son. When I called for assistance, the representative suggested I use the fireplace--clearly unaware it wasn't functional. I had to isolate myself and my son in one room with a small space heater until a technician could fix the HVAC system. Even after the repair, issues persisted. Certain rooms wouldn't heat or cool properly. It turned out that the ducts in the attic weren't connected, causing the HVAC system to overwork, which likely led to the initial breakdown. Things didn't improve as the weather warmed up. I discovered that the outdoor water spigots on both sides of the house weren't functioning. After another service call, I learned the water lines had also been disconnected and capped--just like the gas line to the fireplace. Throughout all of this, I tried contacting the local property manager for help. She never answered her phone, her voicemail was full, and she didn't respond to emails--even after I escalated the issue to corporate customer service. As if things couldn't get worse, the popcorn ceiling in multiple rooms began falling due to record heat and poor maintenance. The first repair attempt was a disaster. The technician did a quick, tacky plaster job on one small area and left, claiming he had another job in 30 minutes. Thankfully, the second repair was much better. Ralph, the technician, was professional, pleasant, and thorough. He explained the likely reasons for the ceiling issues and suggested a better repair method. He carefully patched the areas and matched the popcorn ceiling texture as best as possible. While the entire ceiling still needs to be redone, Ralph did excellent work and treated the situation with care. The core problem with FirstKey Homes seems to be poor management and rushed repairs. Technicians like Ralph show that quality work is possible, but the company needs to prioritize giving its staff the time and resources to do the job right. Unfortunately, my overall experience has been far too negative to recommend FirstKey Homes to anyone. read more

ON Jan 3, I requested a least transfer for the second time due to various issues. Specifically my son had an injury in 2022 (first request) leaving him confined to a wheelchair and the 2 story home posed SOOOO many challenges. I was denied the request and told I had to first move out of the property and clear the home in order to be considered for a lease transfer. That would have been too challenging as I was then tasked with the care of my newly disabled son. I also cited safety concerns due to multiple recent car break ins and a recent drive-by shooting for which my son was shot in the leg by a stray bullet that came in through the window. There was also a slab leak in the home since 2020 that maintenance refused to repair despite my complaints about the high utility bill. My housing issue was not pressing for the individuals that I expressed my need as I was given obstacle after obstacle that hindered the process for mid lease transfer which is evident in my email traffic. On February 14, 2025, without a stable and safe place to live my son committed suicide. Prior to that date I was told that he was removed from the lease and I was advised to add him to the lease and a decision would be made. I added him to the lease after a series of emails pleading with my property manager citing every reason I wouldn't be able to move. To date I have yet to receive any feedback on my request. My current lease ends in July. That mid lease transfer request was placed to the side due to a plumbing leak which had been identified since 2020, that now all of a sudden was approved for repair. On 03/11/2025 the home water line was replaced and the entire home was repiped. I was told 3 billing cycles had to pass before I could receive any credit for any billing errors; conveniently 4 months from my lease ending. SO now after meeting all of your request from January I'm left with a dead son, a lease ending in July 2025, and overpayment by me of utility bills since 2020 (bills totaling $200+ a month for water/sewage which for years I was told was a normal amount. Then when I ask about my reimbursement for years of paying for a slab leak over these years, I'm told you only can grant me reimbursement for 3 months. read more

We have not rented a home in well over 15 years, so when we decide to sell our house and rent we were unsure of what to expect. From the very first interaction with the FirstKey team we were completely put at ease. When Elizabeth called my wife and I to let us know the home was ready for move in, she took the time to answer any questions that we had and even provided her contact number, should we need it. Knowing that she made herself personally available for us, provided great comfort as we were just getting things started with FirstKey. The following day when we discovered that the water had not been turned on yet as there was an issue with the city, the full power and teamwork of FirstKey was evident. Merideth had reached out to see how our move in was going, before we could even open a workorder for the water being off, once we notified her, she immediately started working on the situation. As we were moving a few small things into the house, we got a knock on the door, it Sasha who was in town assisting the team with some move in tasks, remove the lockbox from the door, doing additional inspections of the home etc. As we were introducing ourselves to him, and mentioning that we did not have water on yet, he jumped on the phone and got in touch with Sonya who is our region's Property Manager. Quickly Sonya and Meredith were able to connect and between the two of them they got the city to address the problem and we had water turned on within a very short period of time. Fast forward to the following day and we received a call from Stephanie, she had gotten notified that there was an issue with the city and getting the water turned on the day prior. She called us to see what she could do to help us out with the situation. It was another example of the teamwork and thoroughness that we have experienced from the FirstKey team. We could not be any more pleased with our experience so far and are looking forward to working with the FirstKey team over the next year.. Or longer. We highly recommend FirstKey to anyone looking for someone to partner with when it comes to renting a home read more

Dear FirstKey Homes Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with my rental experience through your company. After being a faithful tenant for one full year, always paying my rent on time and never once being late, I had expected a level of professionalism and respect in return. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite. In addition to poor communication, I experienced several unfair charges. I was charged for weeds despite submitting pictures proving the yard was properly maintained. At that time, your representative assured me that the charge would be refunded, yet no refund was ever issued. I was also charged for an insurance violation, which turned out to be an error on your company's end, but again, I never received the promised reimbursement. Now, as I close my lease, my reimbursement from prorated rent is being withheld, and this amount was not properly calculated or reflected in my final bill. To make matters worse, at the end of my lease, the rent was raised by an unreasonable amount, only for me to discover that the same property is now listed publicly at seventy-five dollars more than my monthly rent. This makes it clear that loyal, responsible tenants are not valued, while new renters are charged even higher rates. The move-out inspection was also unnecessarily difficult and stressful. Rather than a fair evaluation, the inspection focused on highlighting the smallest of minor issues, making the process feel punitive rather than professional. After maintaining my rental responsibly for a full year, I was shocked at the level of scrutiny applied to trivial matters. I entered this lease in good faith, believing FirstKey Homes to be a company that valued its tenants. Instead, I leave with the worst rental experience I have ever had. I strongly urge your company to address these practices immediately--specifically, tenant communication, fair billing and refunds, and the treatment of long-term tenants. Loyal tenants should not be disregarded, overcharged, or denied rightful reimbursements. Sincerely, A Former Tenant Warning Others read more

I'm so grateful that I read reviews and checked the BBB site for First Key Homes before even signing a lease. The experience we had with them was nothing short of exhausting and frustrating from the beginning. They seemed disorganized, and we constantly felt like we were getting the runaround. After submitting all required documents, they would repeatedly tell us they didn't have them, even though we had proof. Not once did we have a dedicated account rep--each time we reached out, we spoke to someone new who had no context for our situation. This inconsistency led to us spending hours on the phone, repeatedly explaining our case. During the week leading up to approval, the treatment we received was horrible. I made it a point to document every single interaction and conversation because it felt like we were getting jerked around at every turn. When we finally got approved, the last thing we wanted was to move forward with the lease because of how poorly we'd already been treated. But instead of a seamless process, we were bombarded with calls from First Key Homes up until the lease expired, adding even more stress to an already negative experience. Once we saw their priorities in action, it became clear they were solely focused on money, not on providing a good experience or quality service. They offered no clear answers on whether the property was move-in ready or if needed repairs would be addressed. When we asked if any maintenance or fixes would be completed before move-in, they said it was "on the agenda" but couldn't confirm anything. This lack of transparency and accountability was extremely discouraging. I would absolutely not recommend First Key Homes to anyone. This was the worst property management experience I've ever encountered. If I could sue them based on the treatment we received before even getting approved, I would. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of First Key Homes--they are not worth the hassle or the stress. read more

I've been in this house for awhile and some items that needed replacing or maintenance haven't always been done correctly by the third party vendors hired. Juan and Hugo (Actual FirstKey Maintenance Techs) came today and fixed several issues that had been ongoing for some time. One was as simple as turning up the hot water heater after the previous company turned it down when they were making a repair on it. They never turned it back up & we didn't know how to adjust the temperature. Juan took care of it within a couple minutes, making sure hot water reached the showers in the back of the house. They repaired a fallen down section of fence and made a repair to an exposed AC wire, protecting it against further issues when stray animals come around. They also made repairs to the electrical panel, and found two previous major repairs that need revisiting by third party vendors. These guys were thorough and they are so nice! Hugo has been out here several times before and my whole family just loves him. He's a bright young man with a friendly demeanor and professional attitude. Juan is quiet but very observant and insightful as to what might be causing an issue. Even when I'm flustered over an issue he's very calm, always confident that he can fix the problem. That's refreshing! He came out to our house once before and did an awesome job fixing some plumbing in the master bathroom. Since we Moved here in 2019 I can say these two are my fave FirstKey maintenance techs. They always do a fantastic job. Thank you!!! I also want to mention that their maintenance team has really been doing a fantastic job of late. When I first moved in a few years ago there were some struggles. I had heard they really wanted to step up their maintenance process and make things easier for tenants and make the repair process more efficient. I can see they have made great strides. And these two in particular are 5 star Fantastic! read more

Disappointed and Disheartened by FirstKey Homes' Service I've had several negative experiences with FirstKey Homes over the years, but this latest one has been especially disheartening. I recently received a $105 charge for a "missed appointment" to repair my stove. While I did schedule the appointment, I never received any confirmation that a technician had been assigned or that someone would actually be coming to my property. For the past three years, I've consistently received confirmation emails with appointment details for every scheduled repair. This time, there was nothing. Given that, I don't believe it's fair to classify this as a no-show on my part. I've recently returned to working in the office and would have absolutely arranged personal time if I had known the appointment was confirmed. As a responsible and committed tenant, I respectfully requested that the fee be waived -- only to be met with a firm and immediate "no." It doesn't appear that my concern was escalated beyond the initial customer service representative, and the lack of consideration was deeply disappointing. While I understand technicians aren't required to call ahead, I did expect timely and clear communication -- especially since I checked the tenant portal multiple times and saw no updates or alerts. No service was performed, and the original stove issue remains unresolved. Now I'm being unfairly charged $105 and worry I'll be charged again once someone finally comes to do the repair. The entire situation feels dishonest -- as if the company is profiting from residents without fulfilling their obligations. I'm sharing my experience as a cautionary note for current and potential tenants. I had higher expectations of FirstKey Homes, but this incident has significantly changed how I view the company and its approach to customer care. read more

The way this company treats a disabled veteran is beyond despicable. I'm a renter with Firstkey Homes in Dekalb County, GA. 30058. I applied for, and was accepted for one home but was told it is currently being made ready, and I would be able to tour in one month. The day before, at 5:56 PM, I get a voicemail saying the home isn't ready nor will it ever be. I was put into the position of be homeless, or go with another Firstkey home. The only other available home was move-in ready, and we went with it. I was meant to move-in 02-14-24, but the home had no heat and a rat infestation. The heat was resolved the evening of 02-29-2024 and the rat infestation wasn't resolved until 12-06-2024. This home also had no AC and the technician sent to fix it told me that because it was cooling by 2 degrees that it was functional and Firstkey wouldn't make any repairs to a functioning AC. I have spent my entire residency here being overcharged on utilities and other issues, to spend at least two months to receive a credit just for something else to break, and the process starts over again. Their entire customer support staff is overseas contractors that tell you they're doing X or Y, but they're just making an online ticket you already can do. Calling the support does absolutely nothing. Any non manager you speak with will treat you like dirt. The managers I have worked with do seem to genuinely care, but when you're a cog in a multi-billion dollar corporation, you have no choice but profit margin. I would tell you to not rent with Firstkey Homes, but they at least repaired things eventually. I've made my situation known to the BBB and I have tried everything in my power not to make my personal issues public, but I'm at my limit. If this is how they treat disabled veterans, God knows this is how they treat everyone. read more

We had issues with our AC unit being undersized, which was bad for the summer we moved in. While First Key Homes sent multiple visits for technicians to verify that was the case, they held their end of the bargain and upsized our unit to a correct size! We had Patrick and Sonny come over to perform this whole install and they were done within a short period! They made an amazingly clean install as well! They insulated the condenser lines and cleaned up our AC closet while at it too!Patrick and Sonny were also the technicians who verified we had an undersized unit immediately after troubleshooting! They went above and beyond taking care of us and our situation. They left us with a temporary portable AC unit to get us through the summer heat and until the unit was replaced! When the unit couldn't get below 83 degrees during the hot summer heat, it is now reaching the low 70s! Patrick and Sonny were super understanding and very respectful as well throughout the whole process! They helped us make sure that the unit was above the normal performance so we could deal with brutal summer heat! I could not recommend the First Key Homes Maintenance Team enough! They worked very hard to make sure we were taken care of. First Key Homes residential also made sure to us updated and filled us in on details! Our property manager Erica Cabrera also came in to help speed the process up, so we are very grateful to First Key Homes Residential for going above and beyond as well! I am very much excited to stay as a resident with First Key Homes as well! Our family couldn't be any more happy and pleased with how First Key Homes (Residential and Maintenance teams!) handles their work! read more

I regret that I must leave a negative review, but the level of service I received has left me no choice. I lived in the home for three years and consistently paid my rent, even while dealing with unresolved work order issues that contributed to significantly high electric bills. Despite these challenges, I was interested in renewing my lease. However, I was offered a renewal with a $300 increase, which was not in line with comparable market rates in the area. I attempted to negotiate with a representative from the renewals department and clearly communicated that I would not be renewing if the rate could not be adjusted. Unfortunately, I was not informed that a written notice was required regardless of this conversation. After trying to work with FirstKey and being unable to secure an affordable rate, I submitted my notice and moved out. Before leaving, I had the home professionally cleaned and the carpets steam cleaned. Despite this, I received a move-out statement citing insufficient notice and am now receiving collection notices. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I had hoped to continue living in the home, and this outcome feels punitive. The lack of communication, flexibility, and customer care has been disheartening. What I initially dismissed as negative reviews from disgruntled tenants now appears to reflect genuine issues. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and would not recommend this company based on my experience. The focus seems to be on profit rather than people, and the absence of a personal touch in customer service is evident. read more

We rented this property for 7 years, and our experience was marked by ongoing maintenance issues, poor communication, and lack of follow-through. From move-in, there were clear quality concerns. The kitchen countertops and master tub had been resurfaced poorly, leaving rough, difficult-to-clean surfaces. There were also visible gaps throughout the home that allowed pests to enter. Maintenance response times were consistently slow. It took approximately 3 years and numerous requests to replace a failing A/C unit. The roof had damage present at move-in but was not replaced until several years later, after a hurricane. Requests related to leaks, mold concerns, and other issues often took weeks to address, if at all. We also experienced frequent no-shows from maintenance personnel, requiring us to take time off work without resolution. Work that was completed was often substandard--for example, painted toilet seats instead of replacement prior to move-in. Communication was a recurring issue. Calls and voicemails frequently went unanswered, including repeated attempts regarding termite concerns. When preparing to move, there were delays in providing rental verification despite completing the requested authorization. Rent increased regularly over the years, including a significant increase at one point, and lease renewal terms created pressure to commit far in advance or face higher rates. After 7 years, these patterns did not improve. Future tenants should carefully consider expectations around maintenance quality, response times, and communication before signing a lease. read more
